The trip back home was quiet between the two parties and that didn’t surprised Wangji one bit. He knew it that it would be awkward between them from now on but he appreciates that it was in the least terms of awkwardness as Zhan actually initiated few conversations between them and he was glad about it. They got to know few things about each other and their childhood and Wangji was glad he was able to know even if it’s just few things about Zhan during the flight. He for some few minutes, saw a joyous young man trying to explain his past childhood though felt some slight pain knowing all were related to Yibo but still listened anyway. He was shot in the heart by Zhan and he really don’t want to heal from it.
They got to China after a day and the weather was slightly warm as the sun was slightly coming up at its peak. The others bidding goodbye to them, they went their own way and Zhan insisted on Haoxuan taking him back home so Wangji could go rest from the trip but Wangji decided on taking him instead as Haoxuan who looked tired and didn’t got any rest throughout the trip and after all, it's his job.
After much persuasion, Zhan eventually agreed and Haoxuan bid them a goodbye while they both approached the car which had been waiting for them.
The drive back to the mansion was a quiet one and Wangji was actually thinking hard on what to say to make it lively as he saw Zhan fidgeting. Probably from nervousness. His brain couldn’t come up with anything at the moment but decided to go with the easy one which anyone wouldn’t ignore.
“so… you’re starving? Is there anything you would love to have?” Wangji asks which Zhan jerked his head at his direction and he replies.
“err no actually. I’m good.”
“mmm”
It was once again quiet till they got to the mansion.
Helping Zhan with his bag, as they got out of the car, they both went inside and Zhan finally turned to Wangji.
“umm thank you for you help. You can go now.” He says and Wangji sighed internally. He really wanted to stay more but he decided not to as he wouldn’t want to make Zhan uncomfortable.
“oh okay.” He says and he passes the bag over to Zhan who received it and through the process, their fingers grace and with each other and as if real, an electric-like feeling bolted through them and they both as quickly as possible, retracted and Wangji smiled before turning and walking away without a word.
Zhan sighed as a faint blush appeared on his cheeks.
‘What is wrong with him?’ he thought.
He actually tried to not make things awkward between them but he still wasn’t able to get through the fact that this same man confessed his feelings for him and he also doesn’t know what was wrong with him on why he isn’t able to refuse even till this day.
He actually planned on giving him a reply of refusal after taking his bag from him, but it was as if the words were stucked in when their hands came in contact and he….he wasn’t able to say it.
As much as he really hates to say it but… he really liked that few seconds of contact. It wasn’t the same as the comfort he seeks but it was surprisingly calming and it eases his throbbing heart a bit.
Not thinking much into it, he head to his bedroom for a rest cuz he think he really needs one.
‘Maybe my thoughts aren’t stable yet, that’s why I’m thinking this way.’ He thought as he walks to his bedroom.
UNKNOWN POV
And here I am again, standing on a white, alluring illusion if I may say as that’s what I would call these that has been happening to me for quite few times now. I don’t now how long it had been but yet I’m stuck here, leaving in different memories which are my past and the only sad thing about it is that I’m watching it being played before me as if it were a television. I can’t feel it, nor can I touch it. I tried few times but I only ends up with me going through them. I could only reminisce and adore them and an eager wish to touch them…..to touch him. I miss him dearly. I gravely remembered how all these started but the question is WHY AM I HERE? WHERE AM I? IS… IS HE OKAY?.
