Zhan paced down the hospital corridors, his footsteps echoing off the sterile walls. He finally settled into a chair, his face buried in his hands, his mind racing with anxious thoughts. “Please, let Wangji be okay,” he whispered to himself, his eyes squeezed shut in silent prayer.Yibo approached him, a gentle smile on his face, and a cup of coffee in his hand. “Hey, Zhan, I brought you a drink. Try to calm down, okay?” He sat down beside him, his voice soft and soothing.
Zhan lifted his head, a weak smile on his lips. “Thanks, Yibo…I just can’t help it. Wangji’s operation is a big deal, and what if something goes wrong?”
Yibo placed a reassuring hand on Zhan’s shoulder. “The doctors are top-notch, and Wangji is in good hands. He’ll come through this, I promise.”
Zhan nodded, his eyes welling up with tears. “I know, it’s just…he’s been through so much already. I can’t bear the thought of anything happening to him.”
Yibo’s grip on his shoulder tightened. “We’ll get through this together, Zhan. We’ll support each other, just like we always do.”
Zhan took a deep breath, his smile a little stronger this time. “You’re right, Yibo. Thanks for being here for me…for him.”Yibo smiled back, his eyes filled with warmth. “That’s what boyfriends are for, right?”
Zhan’s smile radiated relief as he turned to Yibo, his eyes aglow with gratitude. “How are the others doing? Are they managing okay?”
Yibo offered a reassuring nod. “They’re all good, don’t worry. They’re waiting anxiously for updates on Wangji’s condition. But they’re strong, they’ll get through this and as for the rest, your dad has already handled everything so you shouldn’t worry much hm?”
Just then, the doctor emerged from the operating room, a relieved smile spreading across his face. “Gentlemen, I have excellent news! Wangji’s operation was a resounding success. The bullet missed vital parts, so the injury isn’t as severe as we initially thought. He fainted due to the anesthesia and the shock of the bullet wound, but he’s stable now and on the road to recovery.”
Zhan’s tension dissipated, replaced by a wave of profound relief. “Can we see him?” he asked, his voice filled with eagerness. “We need to be by his side, to support him through this.”
The doctor nodded sympathetically. “Yes, you can see him now. He’s awake and recovering well. He’s going to be just fine.”
As they entered the room, Zhan’s eyes locked onto Wangji’s pale face, his heart still racing with worry. He approached Wangji’s bedside, his fingers gently tracing the bandages on his shoulder. “Does it hurt?” he whispered, his voice laced with concern. “Are you in pain?”
Wangji shook his head, a weak smile on his lips. “I’m fine, Zhan. It’s not that serious. I’ll be up and about in no time.”
Zhan’s frown deepened. “Of course it’s serious! What if…what if you had lost your life? What would I have done?”
Wangji’s eyes filled with warmth as he looked at Zhan and Yibo. “I’m glad you both are here for me. It means a lot.”
Yibo smiled, his eyes shining with warmth. “We’re here for you, Wangji. We care about you deeply.”
The three of them sat in silence for a moment, their hearts filled with gratitude and concern. Finally, Wangji spoke up, his voice weak but determined. “I’m glad you’re both here. It means everything to me.”
Zhan’s eyes welled up with tears as he smiled, his heart overflowing with joy. “We’ll always be here for you, Wangji,” he whispered, his voice barely audible.
And with that, the three of them sat together in silence, their bond stronger than ever, as they looked towards a bright future filled with hope and promise.
