IT HAD TAKEN LILY POTTER LOTS OF CONVINCING that Sunday morning to get her own family and the Lupin-Blacks to go on a hike. But now, there they were, walking through some forest with at least five more kilometres ahead of them.

In the very front was a five year old Harry, trying to impress Scarlet, who was seated on Remus' shoulders, with his walking skills. She didn't pay any attention to him, instead pointing at a passing animal every few seconds, making Remus chuckle. Next to them was a panting Sirius, who had been exhausted from the beginning.

Beside the Lupin-Black family walked James, who was also complaining about the 'short walk' as Lily had brought it to the families. The redhead was in the very back, reading the map.

"Can we go home yet?" Sirius asked, wanting nothing more in that moment.

"No Sirius, it is important to spend time as a family. And being outside is very healthy." Lily lectured the man, making him continue whining about every pebble on their way.

"LOOK PAPA ITS A DUCK!" Scarlet exclaimed excitedly, almost slipping off of Remus' shoulders. "Oh yeah, there are lots of ducks, that must mean we're near a pond, sweetie!" Sirius confirmed, changing his demeanour completely and smiling at his daughter fondly. James looked up, thinking about what his friend had said.

"If there's a pond, we can cool off there! Let's go guys!" And so he began running, tripping over a rock, making his son and wife both burst into laughter, whilst Scarlet worriedly asked him if he was okay. The man looked at her with a smile and nodded.

"Daddy, can uncle Prongs carry me? I wanna give you a break from carrying me." The girl whispered to her dad.

"Sure, if you ask him and he's okay with it." The tall brunette replied in the same tone.

"Uncle Prongs? Can you pretty please carry me?" She asked in a very persuasive tone, making sure to look at him with her best puppy eyes.

"Sure, come here, Scarlet!" He smiled. Remus picked her up and placed her on his friend's shoulders.

"Hey, that's not fair! I asked you to carry me first and you said no!" Harry looked at his dad, feeling betrayed.

"Harry, being a gentleman includes making sacrifices." The man lectured.

"I'll carry you Harry!" Sirius suddenly exclaimed, quickly picking the boy up.

"Alright everyone, great news! We've hit the 5,5 kilometre mark, so we're halfway there!" Lily told everyone enthusiastically, earning three groans as a response.

"Prongs I'm suing your wife after this for torturing me." Sirius informed James.
