A Dream Come True

Chapter 17: Falling..HARD

They receive their food and start eating. They have small conversations, basically more about Clarissa. She explains that her family was well prepared if anything had happened to them. They made a will after she was born, and left everything to her since she doesn't have any siblings. All of their money, the house, the cars; everything. She chose to not live in the house cause it gave her the creeps every now and then and could also sometimes be depressing. She'll go there when she feels like she needs to get away from everything cause it is still her home. She leaves the cars there, not wanting to drive them cause she's afraid of them getting wrecked. Ever since the accident that her parents were in, she's always a little afraid of getting in a car, let alone driving one.

They finish their meal and walk out of the diner into the skating rink.

"Can you roller skate?" Clarissa asks Hyunjin.

"I can ice skate, but I've never tried roller skating." He replies a little nervous.

"I've never been ice skating so I can't really say it's the same, but I don't really see you having a problem. Unless you use quad skates instead of inlines then you may have a problem." She chuckles walking up to the skate booth.

They each get a pair of skates and put them on. Clarissa got a pair of quad skates; taking her advice, Hyunjin got the inlines.

Clarissa gets her skates on first and does a few laps around the rink. Dancing, doing some tricks, obviously having a good time. She sees Hyunjin standing on the other side of the wall and approaches him.

"Are you ready?" She asks him on the opposite side of the wall.

Hyunjin looks nervous as all hell. "The skates were a little hard to put on. They're nothing like ice skates. They feel clunky." He says looking at them, then looks back at her, "You, you're a good skater. I'm almost embarrassed to go out there. I'm gonna fall on my ass." He says putting his head in his hands.

"Hey," Clarissa says lifting up his chin with the tips of her fingers, "you got this. You're Hwang Hyunjin. You've already accomplished so much. I know you can do this. Plus, I've been skating since I was 5. I can help you if you would like." She pecks him on the cheek.

He takes a deep breath. "Okay. I'll try a little on my own first to see if I got it." He says confidently, "I can do this."

Hyunjin steps out onto the rink. He stumbles and takes it slow, but still makes it halfway around the rink before falling. He was right, he fell right on his ass. His face turns red from embarrassment.

"Are you okay?" Clarissa says coming up to him trying not to laugh, as she's already done a few laps. She then reaches out her hand to help him up.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He grabs her hand and stands up. "I bet I looked ridiculous.

She giggles, "It looked like you slipped on a banana peel."

Hyunjin runs his fingers through his hair, taking another deep breath. "I think I want help." He says.

"Okay." She reaches out her hands to help him stay balanced.

"I for one can't skate on inlines, but I would imagine it being the same concept for quads. It's really just like walking, but you push off with your back foot." She starts skating backwards still holding his hands slowly pulling him, and then pulling him more.

She laughs. "I can't just pull you silly. You gotta try."

He starts trying to push off with his feet, and gets a good momentum going. They practice together for a few laps before he feels comfortable doing it on his own. Clarissa lets go of his hands and skates next to him, just in case. Seeing that he was doing fine, she went and did a few laps of her own. She frequently stopped to check on him, and every time she did, he was better and better each time. Eventually Hyunjin was passing her on the rink! She was surprised but still enjoyed it, and was glad that he was having a good time.

They finish skating and decide to go back to the hotel. The driver was again waiting for them outside. They get in the car and Hyunjin comforts and cuddles with her more now knowing that she's slightly afraid of car rides.

Clarissa falls asleep on his shoulder on the way back. Hyunjin holds her close and feels her deep breaths, knowing that she was safe made him feel different. He feels that he needs to always know that she's safe, and that nothing is ever going to happen to her. He was truly falling for her, hard.
