Chapter 16: Love in Lasers

Chapter 16

(I forgot to mention in the last chapter that Hyunjins identity is hidden from a mask and hat lol)

Hyunjin and Clarissa continue their day at Hollywood Connections.

They leave the mini golf area and decide to go upstairs to the arcade. They look around and nothing is really peeking their interest until..

"LASER TAG." Hyunjin says, bouncing up and down with excitement looking at Clarissa with hopeful eyes.

"We can play." Clarissa says laughing walking up to the counter.

They get to the counter and the worker says that no one has scheduled to play so it would just be the two of them. They nod and say that that's okay. They go into the back room after paying to get their gear and go over the rules. They then enter a big room with obstacles, kind of like a big kid jungle gym with black lights so certain things pop out.

"The game will begin in 30 seconds." They hear a recorded voice over the speakers. They two look at each other, and head in different directions, getting ready for the game to start.

(Authors note: Again, I'm not sure if Hyunjin is good at laser tag lol)

The recording plays again, "5, 4, 3, 2, 1,"

Intense music starts to play over the speakers. Clarissa hides behind a padded wall, and peaks around the corner. She doesn't see Hyunjin and decides to make a run for it to hide behind another obstacle. She sees him across the way in a gapped area and aims, she misses. "Shit." She whispers to herself. She goes to move, as soon as she becomes visible Hyunjin hits her. "Damn." She said trying to get away from him. She slowly creeps around on her hands and knees looking for him hoping to get just one shot. She sees him hiding behind a wall, she aims through a window and hits him. "DAMN IT CLARY." She hears him yell in a funny manner from where he was. She chuckles to herself, going back to hiding. She stays on her hands and knees and plans to bombard and corner Hyunjin. She goes to the direction of where he was, hoping he was still there.

"1 minute left." The recorded voice over plays over the speaker.

Clarissa gets to where he was, no sign of him.

Hyunjin jumps around the corner, tackling her. He flips her over so he is now straddling her. He aims and shoots at her multiple times getting as many shots as he can before time runs out. Clarissa tries to aim back but is struggling from him waving his gun around.

"Game over." The recorded voice says.

"I win." He says sticking his tongue out and laughing.

"You cheated!" Clarissa says still being straddled and pouts.

"Awe, is someone's feelings hurt?" He asks playfully leaning down to give her a quick peck on the lips.

Hyunjin gets up off of her and helps her up off the ground. They exit the play room and decide to go get some lunch.

They head downstairs to the diner. The diner was red and white with old fashioned booths and tables. Red and white checkerboard patterned tiles for the floor. The bar had a metallic look. They sit at a booth, receive a menu and start deciding on what they would like to eat. Hyunjin orders a hamburger with fries and a Coke. Clarissa orders chicken strips with broccoli and a water. They wait for their food to be brought to them.

"So, I know that we have been hanging out and stuff, but I haven't really learned much about you. All I know is that you're beautiful, and very sweet. You're also a great kisser and everything.." Hyunjin says while looking at her red.

"Oh my god. He thinks I'm a great kisser!" Clarissa's stomach fills with butterflies.

"But I want to know the deeper things about you." He says leaning back onto the booth biting his lip and folding his arms.

"Well my parents were really successful. My Mom was a lawyer and my Dad was a neurosurgeon.." Clarissa says as she puts her hands on the table.

"Was..?" Hyunjin interrupts her concerned.

"They both died when I was 16."

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry Clary. What happened? You don't have to tell me if you don't want to." He says quickly sitting up to hold her hand.

She held his hand, letting him comfort her. "It was a car accident. The light turned green and when they were in the intersection, a drunk semi truck driver t-boned them."

Hyunjin's face dropped. You could tell that he felt very bad for her. He looked at her with tears in his eyes. "I'm so sorry Clary." He said squeezing her hand. "How are things now?" He asks her attentively.

"Things are getting better. I know that it was 4 years ago, but sometimes certain things take longer to heal. I just take it day by day. There are times when I want or need them for something, and they're not there. When I feel really down and lost I go and visit them at their grave. I can feel them comforting me when I'm there, and I seem to always know what to do by the time I leave the cemetery."

"I'm sorry that that happened to you. I'm here for you if you ever need anything." Hyunjin says with a caring smile and kisses the back of her hand.

Clarissa smiles at him with red cheeks. "Thank you." She replies with a soft smile.
