Y/N stopped at a convenience store that day. She wasn't sure why but she had a craving for some sweets. It wasn't like her to stop on her way home from work, but here she was.
Y/N was a teacher, and after long day of students, volleyball practice, and stiff clothing, she normally wanted to do nothing but go home. But today was different. She had more energy than normal and her students had behaved extremely well today. So she stopped for some sweets.
Y/N got out of her car with some pep in her step. She opened the door to the convenience store and a little bell chimed signaling her arrival. Y/N immediately began wandering the isles for anything that sounded good. She had nothing specific in mind when she stopped. All she knew is that she wanted something sweet.
Y/N's eyes landed on a pack of miso butter cookies. Y/N hadn't had miso butter cookies in so long. Since high school she believed. Back then, she used to each them all the time. It reminded her of her time with the Itachiyama volleyball team. She had been their manager. That had been her most memorable part of high school.
Y/N picked up the pack of cookies with a small smile. They brought back fond memories. Y/N scanned the rest of the isle. It held various other kinds of cookies and candy and, surprisingly, dango. Y/N grabbed everything she wanted. Carrying her various treats, Y/N switched isles.
There was a very tall man in the isle. He had his hoodie up and a mask covering his face. There was something very familiar about him. The closer she got, the more Y/N felt she recognized him. And when she saw the familiar curls and two moles, her eyes widened.
Should she say anything? Y/N definitely wanted to. But was it okay to say something? She hadn't seen him in years. Although, they did used to be friends. Y/N inched closer.
"Excuse me," she called out. "Are you Sakusa Kiyoomi?"
The man turned. With a clearer view of his face, Y/N knew she was correct before he even responded. "Yes."
Y/N's eyes widened. It really was him. Itachiyama's former ace. Her former friend. Although she couldn't see his full face, he seemed like he had grown even more handsome. Sakusa was definitely taller now and more muscular. She could tell because he filled out his sweatshirt.
"I never thought I would see you at a place like this. How is volleyball going?" Y/N was in shock about running into Sakusa like this, especially now that he is a famous volleyball player. Although she had gotten a good look at him, Y/N hadn't realized that Sakusa hadn't taken a good look at her. Instead, his gaze was focused on the sweets in her arms. It was quite the pile of snacks she was holding.
"Great," Sakusa nodded. It was true. His time with the Black Jackals has been amazing. He really enjoys playing professional volleyball. But he didn't elaborate further.
"That's amazing!" Y/N smiled. She was beyond thrilled for her team's former ace. Y/N bit her lower lip, debating on saying something else. Ultimately, Y/N decided to throw caution to the wind and just go for it. It wasn't like she was still some high school girl. No, she was a grown woman now. "Would you like to get coffee sometime?"
Y/N was about to elaborate further but Sakusa beat her to it. "Sorry, but I don't typically go on dates with strangers. Especially not fans." The smile on Y/N's face fell. A frown took its place and her eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
"A stranger?" She asked. Did Sakusa not remember her? Had she really changed that much since high school? Or was she just not that memorable? Did her time with the Itachiyama volleyball team really not mean much? "So you don't remember me?"
Sakusa finally looked up, hearing the sadness in her voice. His eyes widened as he finally got a good look at Y/N standing in front of him. "Wait, Y/N?" He asked. Y/N perked up a little at the sound of her name and nodded. "I'm so sorry. I didn't get a good look at your face."
Y/N smiled softly, although she still felt somewhat disappointed. "Well at least I know you are still as blunt as ever." She joked.
Sakusa frowned behind his mask. "Can we go now?"
Y/N blinked. "What?"
"On the coffee date. Can we go now?" He asked again. Sakusa stared expectantly at Y/N waiting for an answer. Y/N's face erupted in a blush. When she had asked Sakusa to coffee, she hadn't intended it to be a date. But she certainly wasn't opposed to the idea, and definitely wouldn't correct him.
"Wait, isn't it a little late for coffee?" Y/N had a point. The sun had already set.
"Then we can do something else." Sakusa shrugged, still closely watching Y/N for her answer. Y/N slowly nodded. Sakusa grinned, which lit up his eyes. He grabbed some of the snacks from Y/N's arms and led her to the cashier.
Sakusa grabbed a hold of Y/N's free hand as he walked her to her car. Y/N looked down at their intertwined hands in shock. She knew Sakusa hated germs so she was very surprised that he was willing to touch her hands. Normally he had an aversion to such things.
"What would you like to do?" Sakusa's question caught her off guard. Y/N thought for a moment. What did she want to do?
"I haven't had dinner yet."
Sakusa grinned. "Dinner it is then."
