Part Two

It has been two months since Tohru and Y/N had their conversation in the empty classroom. Since then, Tohru and Y/N have been inseparable. Tohru is still broken and wears Oikawa as a mask. Y/N wasn't some magical cure, but Tohru has made more progress in piecing himself together again. And now Iwa isn't the only person that Tohru trusts. He has Y/N by his side too.

Over the past two months, Tohru's feelings for Y/N have continued to develop. He has used these past two months to ensure that he wasn't misreading his emotions. That his feelings for Y/N weren't simply because she accepted the real Tohru. No, Tohru determined that he truly likes Y/N. He enjoys and finds himself seeking her out. He loves her personality and her quirks. He likes her.

But Tohru hasn't made a single move. He doesn't attempt to hide his feelings around Y/N, but he hasn't allowed himself to act on them. He couldn't allow himself to act on them. Because the truth is that he is terrified. Y/N accepted him as he is, but that doesn't mean that she returns Tohru's feelings.

Tohru is terrified of losing what he has gained with Y/N. He is terrified of rejection. He wants to be with her, he wants her to be his. But Tohru is too scared to act. He can't risk losing everything that he has built with Y/N. He just can't.

This was a new feeling for Tohru. He has never feared his feelings for someone. Oikawa is no stranger to asking a girl out. But Tohru is. He has never let anyone in to see the real Tohru. All of his former girlfriends only knew him as Oikawa. But Y/N sees past Oikawa to the real Tohru. And that changes everything.

What Tohru didn't know was that Y/N returns his feelings. Now that she had grown to know Tohru, Y/N found herself very attached to him. She enjoys his company and is constantly seeking it out. She likes everything about him. The real him. And she feels honored that Tohru trusts her.

Y/N knows that Tohru has feelings for her. He makes it quite obvious. He playfully flirts with her but there is always this look of truth in his eyes when he does so. It has grown to the point that everyone assumes that they are together, and neither of them ever correct these claims. They don't want to correct them.

Y/N also knows that Tohru is scared. And honestly, she is too. She doesn't want to ruin everything that they have created. But Y/N also doesn't want things to remain the same. She wants more. She doesn't want to remain just friends with Tohru.

Y/N knows that Tohru won't make the first move. So, if she wants things to change, Y/N will have to do something about it. The thought was enough to make her nervous. But she wanted it. She wanted things to change. So Y/N devised a plan.

Y/N lingered in the halls after school in order to catch Iwaizumi before practice starts. Tomorrow would be the weekend and Y/N was hoping to make her move then. When Y/N finally spotted Iwa, she spoke up. "Hey, Iwa. Can I talk to you for a minute?" She asked.

Iwa looked up from his phone. He was surprised that Y/N was stopping him. They are friends that have spent quite a bit of time together over the past two months, but Y/N typically isn't the one to seek out and start a conversation. "Sure, L/N. What's up?"

Iwa spotted Tohru lingering at the end of the hallway behind Y/N. Tohru seemed shocked seeing them together but he kept his distance. It seemed personal and he didn't want to interrupt. But he was close enough that he could hear everything that was being said.

Y/N fiddled with her fingers. "The volleyball team doesn't have anything scheduled for this weekend, right?" Iwa shook his head. "That's good. But do you and Oikawa have anything planned for tomorrow?"

Tohru listened carefully. He was confused as to why Y/N would be asking Iwa if he had plans. He also wanted to know why Y/N seemed so nervous. It almost seemed like Y/N was trying to ask Iwa on a date. The thought made Tohru's stomach sink. But he continued to listen. He knew Iwa had seen him, but Iwa didn't give any indication to Y/N. Tohru knew that Iwa had to have a reason for letting him listen in.

Iwa thought carefully about his answer. He subtly looked over Y/N's shoulder to Tohru. Truthfully, he and Tohru did have plans but he had a good guess as to why Y/N was asking. Being the good friend he is, Iwa wants Tohru to be happy and felt relieved that Y/N was finally going to confess. So he answered with a simple lie. "No, we don't have any plans. Why do you ask?"

Y/N smiled a little. She was glad that Iwa and Tohru didn't have plans. That meant she could hopefully ask Tohru to hangout as planned. Then she would confess her feelings for him. "I think it's time that I tell Oikawa," Y/N replied.

Tohru felt confused. Tell him about what? Without thinking much about it, Tohru approached them with a forced smile. "Tell me what?"

Y/N whipped around to face Tohru, heat rushing to her cheeks. No, this was not what she had planned. Y/N could feel her well thought out confession unraveling. Iwa had to fight back a smile. "I think it is time that you tell him." Iwa spoke up. "I'll see you at practice when you're done, Shittykawa." Iwa walked away with a wave.

Now that Iwa was gone, Tohru kept his gaze locked on Y/N. "Tell me what?" He repeated. Tohru observed Y/N closely. The pit in his stomach had disappeared. He enjoyed the way that Y/N was desperately avoiding eye contact, turning her blush covered face slightly. It made him happy that Y/N was so embarrassed. He found it cute the way she was playing with her fingers. Tohru felt the sudden desire to kiss her.

"Uh," Y/N cleared her throat. Her confidence was gone but it was now or never. It was nothing like she planned. She was caught off guard and cornered into her confession. "Tell you that I, uh-" Y/N was cut off by a pair of lips. Tohru had swept down and kissed her without thinking. He just couldn't hold back anymore.

Tohru pulled away with a smug smile on his face. Y/N was incredibly flushed. "Let's go see a movie this weekend," Tohru suggested. "I think it's about time that I take you on a proper date."
