Hinata Shoyo was helplessly smitten with Y/N. He had been since the first time he saw her.
Y/N is a sports journalist. And for the past few months, she has been writing a piece and filming a documentary about the Japanese Division 1 volleyball team, the Black Jackals.
Hinata's feelings are one sided, or so he believes despite the input from his teammates. His feelings were also painfully obvious. The ray of sunshine did nothing to hide them. He didn't see the point in hiding them. Some times he would just blatantly flirt with her.
There were little things that told the rest of the team that Y/N felt the same way, although she hid it remarkably well. Little things like how she leans into his touch and never tells Hinata to stop. But also the light blush that coats her cheeks every time Hinata is near.
Y/N can't act on her feelings though. That is the only reason that the two are not already together. She can't act on her feelings while she is still working with the Black Jackals. It would be unprofessional. And Y/N is very professional.
Y/N met with the Black Jackals that day to give them the first look at the documentary and article before they are both released the following day. She was dressed more casually that day than she had been all the others. Considering that filming was over and that this was her last day with the Black Jackals, she could.
Her last day with the Black Jackals. The thought alone made her heart hurt. Soon Hinata, the lovely ray of sunshine, would forget all about her.
Hinata was hurt too. He couldn't bear the thought that Y/N would no longer be around. No longer attending their practices or following them around, attending their team get togethers. It hurt his heart to think about. Hinata just wasn't ready for it.
Y/N was the last to arrive. They were on the second floor of the training complex, in the room in which the team watches game recordings. All of the Black Jackals greeted her with a smile, but one was especially radiant. Y/N kindly smiled back at them.
"I'm sorry for running behind," Y/N apologized. "I was held up by the editor." She handed the DvD to the coach of the Black Jackals. "I hope you all are excited to finally see the finished film. I would like to remind you all that the purpose of this documentary is to expand the fan base of Japan's volleyball while also providing content and an inside look of the Black Jackals for your preexisting fans."
Y/N took an open seat, which just so happened to be next to Hinata. The documentary wasn't too long, a little less than two hours in length. Y/N, and the team, seemed pleased with how it came out. After they finished watching the documentary, Y/N walked the Black Jackals through the article she had written.
In the end, Y/N was proud of her work, and was pleased to know that the Black Jackals seemed happy with it too. "That's all I have for you men today. Go home and shower, cause you all definitely need it. Good practice today and don't forget to thank Miss L/N for her time." The coaches dismissed.
Y/N walked out with the rest of the team. Hinata approached her with a bright smile. "Let me walk you out L/N." Hinata led her to the elevator. The rest of the Black Jackals got the message and headed for the stairs.
"Thank you Hinata, that would be nice." Y/N smiled. She and Hinata entered the elevator, pushing the button for the ground floor. It started to descend but it stopped with a jolt. Then the light went out.
Y/N's breathing picked up. She was stuck in an elevator alone with Hinata. How perfect. Y/N looked over at the man in a panic, although she couldn't see much in the dark. She was alone, in the dark, with someone she liked. Someone she was trying to remain professional around.
Hinata was in a similar panic. It was the perfect opportunity to shoot his shot. This was his last chance. After this, Y/N would leave and not come back. She would be there anymore. But he wanted her there. With a racing heart, Hinata reached for Y/N. "L/N," he called out.
Y/N felt Hinata's hand lightly grasp her arm. She gasped at the touch. It sent a tingling warmth across her skin. "Yes, Hinata?" Y/N did her best to suppress the shakiness of her voice.
"I like you a lot, L/N." Hinata confessed. He heard Y/N's breath hitch. He felt heat rush to his face and blood to his ears. All Hinata could hear was his own racing heartbeat as he waited for her response.
"Hinata,"
"Do you feel the same?" Hinata asked. His grip on her arm tightened slightly due to his nerves, but it wasn't uncomfortable.
Y/N's face flushed in the dark. She nodded, momentarily forgetting that he couldn't see her. Y/N opened her mouth but only a small noise came out at first. Her heart was pounding in her ears. "Yes," she squeaked.
Hinata barely heard her. A smile erupted on his face. His hand slowly ran up her arm, not missing how the movement made Y/N gasp, until it reached its destination and cupped her face. His other hand found her hip, pulling Y/N close. Hinata lowered his face to hers, his breath fanning over Y/N's face. Her breath hitched.
Hinata gave her ample time to push him away or reject him, but Y/N did nothing of the such. Hinata smiled and lowered his lips onto hers. It was soft and gentle. Y/N had never been kissed in such a gentle manner. Her face erupted with heat as their lips lingered together, but her eyes fluttered closed.
Then the lights buzzed back to life. The elevator jolted and resumed its decent. Hinata pulled away with a soft laugh. He grinned at Y/N before leaning back in to whisper in her ear. "You're mine now, L/N."
