Y/N could not get a hold of herself. Her friend, Kuroo, had convinced her to get on a Ferris Wheel with him. It sounds nice and all. That is until Y/N's fear of heights is taken into consideration.
They were stuck. The Ferris Wheel had broken down with Kuroo and Y/N at the top. No, the Ferris Wheel wasn't just stopping to let people off, it had broken down. And based on what the announcer had said, they would be stuck for a while.
"Y/N," Kuroo spoke gently. He sounded genuinely worried about her. His delicate touch snapped Y/N out of her racing thoughts. Her panicked E/C eyes snapped to Kuroo's. "Y/N," he tried again. "It's okay."
Y/N did her best to focus on his gray eyes. She attempted to slow her breathing, although it didn't do much. "Tetsuro," Y/N called out for him. She sounded so fragile and delicate. As if one wrong move could shatter her entirely.
"It's okay, Y/N. It's all gonna be okay," Kuroo said softly. He took a seat and wrapped his arm around Y/N's shoulders. Kuroo pulled her into his chest, slightly stoking her arm. He felt Y/N's breathing slow to a normal pace.
"Let's distract you, okay?" Kuroo pulled out his phone and unlocked it. He pulled up Y/N's favorite show. It took some time, but Y/N finally relaxed into him.
"See, it's not so bad up here." Kuroo teased. He earned himself a harsh glare from Y/N. Kuroo grinned down at her, ruffling Y/N's hair.she pouted and pulled away from Kuroo.
"Shut up, you dumb rooster." Y/N bit back. Kuroo clenched his sides as he laughed. As much as Y/N did not want to, Kuroo's laugh made her crack a smile. His cackling caused a sense of comfort to wash over Y/N. She almost didn't mind that he was finding amusement out of her discomfort. Almost.
"I'm sure we won't be up here too much longer." Kuroo reassured once he had finished gathering himself. Y/N's glare softened. She sure hoped that Kuroo was right. Y/N couldn't wait to be on solid ground again.
"I hope so," she said.
"Do you want to watch another episode?" Kuroo asked. Y/N nodded and leaned back into his chest. Another episode sounded like just what Y/N needed to pass the time.
They were halfway through the episode when the car they were in jolted. Y/N clung to Kuroo for dear life. Then a voice sounded from over the speaker. "Everything is going to be alright folks. In just a few minutes we will be back up and running. Thank you for your patience."
Y/N turned to face Kuroo. Her face was lit up with hope. "Did you hear that, Tetsuro? They are finally going to get us off of this thing!" She stared into Kuroo's eyes with relief written all over her face.
Kuroo smiled. Truth be told, he had mixed feelings about getting off. The view was amazing, but he also didn't appreciate that the Ferris Wheel had broken down. Especially considering he had finally convinced Y/N to get on. "I heard," he mused.
Y/N opened her mouth to say something but was interrupted by the Ferris wheel jolting to life. Y/N unconsciously closed the gap between their bodies, clinging to Kuroo and burying her face in his chest. Kuroo laughed in amusement at the scared noise that had left her.
Kuroo couldn't stop laughing but he affectionately stroked Y/N's hair in an attempt to calm her. "It's not funny," Y/N grumbled into his chest. This only caused Kuroo to laugh harder.
"It's kinda funny," Kuroo teased.
Y/N pouted but kept her face buried in Kuroo's chest. "You're so mean, Tetsuro!"
Y/N lifted her head up in a panic as the Ferris Wheel stopped again. "Did it break down again?" Her voice full of worry. Kuroo smirked down at her.
"No, they are just letting people off." After Kuroo finished speaking, the Ferris Wheel jolted back to life. It continued this stop and go pattern until Kuroo and Y/N finally reached the bottom.
When the doors opened, Y/N released her grip on Kuroo and bolted out of the car. Kuroo calmly followed after her, accepting the apologies from the staff.
"I am never getting on one of those things ever again!" Y/N declared, pointing an accusatory finger at Kuroo. Kuroo laughed and raised his hands in surrender.
"That's fair." The rooster's expression suddenly softened. Kuroo walked up to Y/N and draped his arm over her shoulders. "Let's go get some ice cream. My treat," he suggested.
Y/N's eyes lit up. "Are you sure?" She asked. "I can buy my own." Kuroo shook his head. He was sure. Y/N gave up and thanked him.
The line for the ice cream did seem that long after they had been stuck on the Ferris Wheel for nearly an hour. Kuroo and Y/N were both planning on getting their favorite flavors. As the line inched slowly forward, Y/N tripped.
Y/N fell forward. Her eyes widened and she braced herself for an impact that never came. Y/N was being held up Kuroo's arms. Her face flushed, embarrassed by her clumsiness. "I'm sorry," she squeaked. Kuroo lifted her back to her feet and Y/N looked around to see what she had tripped on.
Kuroo boldly grabbed Y/N's chin, turning her head to look at him. "Don't worry about it," he reassured. "You can fall for me any day." Y/N's eyes widened, her face turning beat red. As Y/N's brain replayed everything that had happened that day, she came to a sudden realization.
That is the story of how Y/N developed feelings for her dear friend, Kuroo Tetsuro. The tale of how Kuroo developed feelings for Y/N is a little different, and takes place long before this. But that is a tale for another day.
