Chapter Nine

Melody Taylor

Melody quickly jumped out of her sleep as she gasped for air. She looked around and noticed Mingi wasn't there, she slowly got out of bed before making her way downstairs. Just as she reached the bottom of the steps the front door opened.

"Good morning." Mingi said.

"Morning, I thought you left." She said.

"Well I did, I can't cook to save my life so I got us breakfast." He said holding up a bag.

"Oh." She said.

She sat down and folded her legs before Axel jumped in between them. She did a light smile as she rubbed her hands against his fur.

"Are you hungry?" He asked.

"Not really." She mumbled.

He placed food in front of her and she inhaled the smell before digging in.

"How are you feeling?" He asked.

"Scared...confused, so many emotions." She mumbled.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked.

She looked at him before looking away.

"Everything happened so fast, he was telling me about the case and he told me about something he found. When we walked out...it just happened so fast." She said.

"I know your not supposed to tell me anything dealing with clients-"

"Mr.Brown is dead so the client confidentiality is over..." She said.

"Do you think the case was related to his death?" He asked.

"Definitely, somebody didn't want Mr.Brown to talk." She said.

She sighed and rubbed her hands through her hair before her phone began to ring.

"Hello." She said.

"May I speak with Melody Taylor?"

"This is she." She said.

"Hi this St.Jose hospital, first I would like to say I'm sorry for your lost...you're more than welcomed to pick up Mr.Browns belongings."

"Wait is the investigation over already? I'm not supposed to get anything of his until the investigation is over." She said.

"The police gave us the clear, along with cremation."

Melody looked at Mingi and clinched her jaw.

"Ok, I'm on my way." She said hanging up.

"What's going on?" Mingi asked.

Melody began heading to her room as Mingi followed her.

"This is bad." She said removing her shirt.

"What is it?" Mingi asked.

"Mr.Brown was murdered, I wasn't supposed to be able to get his belongings until after the investigation is over. It didn't even take them 12 hours to figure out who killed him, unless someone was payed off." She sighed.

She noticed Mingi silence and turned around to see him just starring. Realizing she was only in her bra and panties.

"Oh my god." She said covering herself.

"I'm sorry." He said quickly covering his eyes.

She quickly put on a pant suit before fixing her hair.

"So you think the police is involved?" He asked.

"Something fishy is going on, that's what I do know." She said.
