"Mira, your tea is ready." Fred waved a hand in front of my face, calling me back to real life as the boiling water in the kettle whistled. I got up from the table to pour the tea into my cup. Fred passes me the biscuit tin. I was becoming more and more aware of how this war was affecting everyone. Harry had sent his aunt, uncle, and cousin away so that would stay safe. Hermione... well, Hermione obliviated her parents' memory of her, so that they would be ok to go on their trip, far away without a single worry about Hermione. She would be staying with the Weasleys at the Burrow for now.
As for Harry, the Order was sending all of us to him for a special mission at hand. We just had to wait for it to get dark. I was eager to see Harry. We weren't allowed to visit any of them until school ended and then, as precaution, the Order refused to let me visit him until they had a plan, until they deemed it safe. I guess tonight it was safe. And we had to get Harry out of there before it stopped being safe. The kitchen was silent as Fred and I sat there, eager for the sun to go down. George came down the stairs, still in his work suit, and kissed the top of my head. He looked at his brother. "Are we ready?" I took a deep breath. I wanted to be excited to see Harry, but I knew that it wasn't in the best circumstances.
"As ready as I can be." I replied. George threw one of his jackets over my shoulders. We would be traveling by broom and the cold air would be nipping at my skin. Traveling at night was safer for us, all of us. We rode our brooms as swiftly as we could to Harry's house on Privet Drive.
Landing on the quiet street was easy. It was the type of street where people looked the other way if they saw anything weird going on. They didn't want to believe in magic, so they chose not to. When we landed, Fred and George saw their brother, Bill, and welcomed him with open arms. They loved their oldest brother, almost as much as they loved Charlie. I sent Bill a smile and gave him a hug. Even Fleur was there, since Bill was officially her fiance. "Good to see you Bill." Though Bill and I weren't close, he was like family, in a way. Fleur, on the other hand, had helped me in so many ways. She told me everything I needed to know about my grandmother. We helped each other with the Triwizard. There was something special about Fleur and it was her heart. Even though she knew nothing about me, and had everything to lose, she made me a friend and an ally. "Fleur!" I smiled at her, embracing her with a strong grasp. She kissed both of my cheeks, a French custom that I was glad had never made its way to the UK. But it was Fleur, so I smiled and squeezed her hands. I took a look around and saw Ron and Mione. When Mione saw me, she ran into my arms, collapsing. Ron awkwardly patted my back before shimmying his way out of the hug to go stand near his brothers. Now that Bill and Fleur were engaged, Ron had an easier time communicating with her. Fred and George still had money on him making a fool of himself in front of her. Hermione rested her head on my chest, hugging me tightly. I knew Mione needed it more than anyone else.
I gave George a look that told him to go ahead without me. He gave me a small nod and followed the leaders of the Order to the door. Mione and I would catch up in a second, as soon as I checked in with her. "How are you?" I asked the girl who was trying her hardest not to cry.
"I'll be ok..." She said hesitantly. "I did what I had to do." I nodded, understanding. I don't think I would have ever been strong enough to do what she did.
"You'll get them back. I promise." I knew I shouldn't have made that important of a promise if I wasn't 100% sure that I could keep that promise, but she was so close to tears and she needs that reassurance. We all need that reassurance right now. I lead Mione to the front door of Harry's house and she pushes her way through the crowd. As soon as the front door opened, showing Harry, Hermione flung her arms around Harry. Ron gives him a clap on the back. After them, Fred, George, Bill, Fleur, Tonks, Remus, Arthur, Mad-Eye, Shacklebolt, and Mundungus Fletcher walked into the house. Harry stood there with a smile on his face, seeing all of the people that cared about him enough to protect him. When he saw me, his demeanor changed. He looked more relaxed, less tired.
"Mira..." He sighed, as I stepped into the house. I looked around the house that I had never had the chance to step into. The house was still, and seemingly full of the trauma that Harry had been through his entire life living with these people. I hugged Harry, kissing his head. We were about the same height now, which irked me a little bit, but more than that I was just glad to see my brother again. I put my hands on his cheeks, moving his head so that I could take a good look at his face. "Mira. Mira... I'm ok." I sighed, believing him but also not noticing anything other than tired eyes.
"Good, good. I know. I just... I just needed to make sure." The roar of a motorbike made both of us turn our attention to the street behind us. Hagrid dismounted the motorbike.
"All righ', 'arry? Yeh look fit." I smiled at the half-giant.
"Yeah, he's ruddy gorgeous. What say we get undercover before someone murders him." I chuckled at Mad-Eye, following Harry down the hallway into the sitting room. The house was completely empty, all except for a cuckoo clock that was nailed to the wall. Harry looks around the room, introducing himself to Bill."Hello, Harry. Bill Weasley." Bill introduced himself, shaking Harry's hand.
"Wasn't always this handsome." Fred mentioned, putting his hand on Bill's shoulder. George followed his lead.
"Dead ugly." I smacked George with a small and playful eye roll. Bill just smiled at Harry, going along with it.
"True enough. Owe it all to a werewolf by the name of Greyback. Hope to repay the favor one day." Fleur leaned in, kissing his cheek with a smile.
"You are still beautiful to me, William." I smiled at the couple as Remus walked up, putting his hand on my shoulder.
"Just remember, Fleur, once you're married: Bill takes his steaks on the raw side now." Fleur didn't say a thing, only looking at her soon to be husband.
"My husband, the joker. By the way, wait until you hear the news! Remus and I are --" I wanted to know how she would finish that sentence, and for a brief second, I thought she had put her hand on her stomach, but when Mad-Eye interrupted her, her hand moved back to her side.
"All right, all right! You'll all have time for a cozy catch-up later! We've got to get the hell out of here and soon!" I nodded, looking back at Harry. I knew he wasn't going to like this plan, but it had to be done.
