I couldn't go a day without seeing someone get asked to the ball. Draco had asked Pansy, unfortunately for him. Well, unfortunately for everyone that she was even going to this ball. Seamus had asked some girl in Gryffindor named Lavender. Neville was so sweet; he asked Ginny. Ginny was excited to even be going. Plus Neville is a sweet guy and Ginny liked him. Not in a crush sort of way, but in a friendship sort of way. Somehow Roger Davies was taking Fleur. Roger was a year older than me and he was the captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team. He was alright, though he and Oliver had a friendly feud on the field. Victor Krum had even asked Hermione to the dance. And she said yes. I was fairly shocked. Victor Krum was 18 and it seemed a little weird that he was attracted to a 15 year old but he was really sweet with Hermione. He looks at her like she is the most beautiful girl in the world. She's not in love with him and he's not in love with her, but they both find the other attractive and find their other qualities attractive. Plus, I mean, it's Krum. She didn't tell anyone other than me, though. She didn't want people to know. And I think by that, she really meant that she didn't want Ron to know. While we were in study hall, I could see Hermione sitting across from Harry and Ron, they were only a couple spaces away from me. "This is mad. At this rate we'll be the only ones in our year without dates." I heard Ron say. I smirked, trying not to laugh. Snape walks past and slaps Ron over the head. "Well, us and Neville." I roll my eyes at that comment. If only they knew.
"Yeah, but, then again, he can take himself." I leaned over my work, staring at Ron and Harry.
"It might interest you to know that Neville's already got someone." Ron gasps, his eyes wide as he stares back at me.
"Now I'm really depressed." Ron mumbled. I leaned back, looking at Fred and George, shaking my head.
"Your brother is daft." I groaned, leaning my head on George's shoulder. Fred crumpled up a piece of paper and tossed it to Ron.
"Who are you going with then?" Ron asked Fred, who wiggled his eyebrows that seem to have said 'watch this'. He threw a paper ball at Angie, who was sitting across from us. She looked up from her book, looking over at Fred.
"Oi, Angelina." Using only hand motions, Fred pointed to himself, then to Angie, and then did a dancing movement. "Do you want to go to the ball with me?" Fred whispered towards her. She smiled widely, blushing as she nodded. It didn't matter that they were dating. He still made her blush and smile. Fred turned back towards Ron, winking. Angie squealed softly, squeezing my hand. "Alright George, now it's your turn." I turned to George. My heart dropped a little as I looked back at George and his red cheeks.
"Who are you asking Georgie?" I asked him, nudging his shoulder. I wanted it to be me...
"I - uh - I have to go." George collected all of his books and walked out of the Great Hall. I furrowed my eyebrows. What just happened? I looked back to Fred, my eyes questioning.
"He was going to ask you..." Fred said, a look being shared between Angie and Fred. Leaving all of my books on the table, I stood up, running out of the Great Hall to catch up with George. George was walking slowly in front of me, muttering something to himself.
"George Weasley!" He turned around and his eyes went wide when he saw me. My face was probably a little red from the running. "Go to the ball with me?" I asked him, smiling widely.
"You're asking me?" I laughed, looking at his shocked expression.
"Yes. I have been waiting for you to ask me." He laughs and shakes his head at me. I hugged him tightly, wrapping my arms around his neck. "You're my best friend. I couldn't imagine going to this ball with anyone else." He smiled and kissed my cheek. I couldn't help but wondering, were we going to the ball together, or together?

"It's cold. Let's just get this over with." I groaned silently, hugging my jacket closer to my body. Most of the girls had decided to go dress shopping this weekend. I just didn't realise it would be so much work. Each time we went into a different store, one of two things happened. 1) All the good dresses had been taken. 2) The dresses they did have just didn't work on me, or them. So yeah, we continued to search for the best dresses for us. Angie had an idea of what she wanted in her head and after two stores, she found the perfect dress for her. It was dark purple, skin tight, velvet material. Hermione found the perfect dress after three stores. It was light but slim, different shades of pink ruffles. I, on the other hand, was still searching after five stores. "Mira, you are thinking too hard." Angie said, putting a hand on my shoulder as I ran a hand through my hair.
"You need a blue dress. It'll complement you perfectly." Hermione said as we walked into the next store. Malkin's Dress Shop was one of the best dress shops and I was just hoping there was something left. "Hello Mrs Malkin." Hermione spoke as the middle-aged woman stepped out from the back.
"Hello dears. Yule ball dress shopping?" She asked, noticing the dress bags in Mione's and Angie's hands. I stepped up, smiling at her.
"It's for me. I haven't found the right dress yet." She smiles at me and winks.
"I think I have just the dress. It's in the back." She said, leading me to a door. When I walked through the door, my eyes were immediately glued on this beautiful dress. It was a dusty blue colour and the dress went all the way down to the ground. It had straps, small and simple but they really added to the dress. The top part of the dress was embroidered with sequins and lace. "Oh my god, Mrs Malkin, this is the most beautiful dress! How much is it?" I asked excitedly.
"17 Galleons but since it's your first ball I'll make it 12 Galleons" She said sweetly, sending a smile my way as she wrapped the dress into its bag.
"Really? Oh thank you Mrs Malkin! Thank you." I said, putting my hand to my chest as she brought the dress out to register.

"Hey Mirabella, wait up!" I heard someone yell as I was walking back to the Gryffindor common room. I turned around, seeing Cedric run up to me. I smiled at him as he stopped, standing right in front of me.
"Hey Cedric. What can I help you with?" He smiled sweetly, a small red tint on his cheeks.
"Actually I was wondering if you wanted to go to the ball with me?" My smile dropped and I suddenly felt bad.
"Cedric..." His smile dropped and he shrugged.
"You already have a date, don't you?" I nodded and gave him a sad smile as I put my hand on his shoulder. "The beautiful ones always go first." he smiled sadly as he started to walk away.
"Wait, Cedric." He turned around, looking at me. "Cho Chang has a really big crush on you. She happens to be dateless and I know she would love to go to the Yule Ball with you." His smile got a little wider but I didn't know how we actually felt about it.
"Thanks Mirabella. You're a good friend. George is a lucky guy." I blushed as Cedric walked away.
