The gentle breeze carried the scent of flowers as I walked hand in hand with Molly toward the Burrow. I had been feeling off for a while now, and Molly had helped me schedule an appointment with the healer, just to make sure. I knew these symptoms; it had happened just like this last time. But it was better to be safe than sorry. The Burrow welcomed us with its warm embrace, the cozy atmosphere a stark contrast to my swirling thoughts. Molly led me to the sitting room, where the family had gathered for tea. The kids were playing outside, Angie resting from having her and Fred's third child, a little girl named Roxanne. Fred was helping take care of her upstairs and I hadn't seen either of them since I had arrived. George was with the kids outside and I could hear their laughter that filled my heart. Their smiles and chatter lifted my spirits, but I couldn't shake the worry in the pit of my stomach. After exchanging greetings and settling in, Molly leaned over to me, concern evident in her eyes. "How are you feeling, dear? Any better?"
I managed a weak smile. "Not really, Molly. I'm hoping the Healer can shed some light on what's been going on."
Molly nodded sympathetically, her motherly instincts on full alert. "Don't worry, Mira. We'll figure this out together." Soon enough, it was time for my appointment with the Healer. Molly insisted on coming with me, offering her support every step of the way. The Healer was kind and thorough, asking about my symptoms and conducting various tests.
When the Healer returned with the results, Molly held my hand tightly, her eyes filled with concern and hope. "What did they say, dear?" she whispered.
The Healer smiled warmly. "Congratulations, Mirabella. You're expecting twins." The room seemed to spin as Molly gasped in delight. Twins. I was going to be a mother of twins.
Tears of joy filled my eyes as Molly enveloped me in a hug, her excitement contagious. "Oh, Mira, that's wonderful news!" Molly insisted that we go shopping immediately and even though we weren't sure of the gender, she wanted to get blue and pink. Just in case, she said. Molly took charge of the celebrations, orchestrating a surprise announcement for George. She had prepared a special gift—a pair of tiny baby booties, one blue and one pink, symbolizing our double joy. Molly shooed everyone out of the main room as she prepared her surprise. I couldn't help but put a hand on my belly, excited at the idea of welcoming more kids into our family. Twins... I couldn't believe it. It shouldn't have been a surprise. Fred and George were twins. But it was still so amazing.
"Atlas! Go get mummy!" I heard George tell our son, whose giggles were filling the entire burrow. I spread out my arms as my son jumped into them, hugging me tightly with his little body. He was just two years old.
"Mummy!" He giggled. "Daddy was chasing me. Save me." I looked at George with a smile, the fact that he had no idea what was going on, made me more than excited to tell him everything.
"Can I tell you a secret?" I told my baby boy and he nodded, excitedly. "But you can't tell daddy." George scoffed, putting his hands on his hips. "Promise?" My son nods, crossing his pinky finger over mine. "Mummy is going to have another baby." I tell my little boy, very quietly into his ear. Atlas gasped, giggling as he patted my leg.
"I don't tell daddy." Atlas says, nodding. I smile at him, giving him a big smooch on his cheek.
"Meanie." George commented as he ran after our very mobile son. Within minutes, Molly had called everyone in the family to the main room, making them sit down. I had Atlas in my arms as he snuggled close to my belly, trying to hear the twins. I knew he wouldn't be able to, but he thought they were talking to him, making me smile. The family sat there, eager to get back to what they were doing, having no idea the type of news they were about to hear. George stood behind me, running his hands through my hair. Molly beamed with pride as she made the announcement, her voice filled with joy.
"Everyone, I have some incredible news." The family perked up and Atlas raised his hand.
"I KNOW THE SECRET!" He screamed. George laughed loudly with Fred. Molly looked over at George, frowning. I knew it was fake, but no one else did.
"George, where did you put it?" George furrowed his eyebrows, looking at his mum. "I gave you a box to give to your beautiful wife." Molly scoffed at her son, walking into the other room to grab the shoe box. She put it into George's hands.
"I've got Atlas, can you open it for me, Georgie?" I asked him with a small smile. Atlas stood up on my legs, making me wince in pain as he started to jump on me.
"Of course, love. Atlas, don't jump on mummy." Atlas stopped jumping as his father opened the school box. George dropped the box on the floor, his hands holding onto a pair of booties - one blue, one pink.
"George, I think you'll need these for the newest additions to our family." I tell him, looking down at my belly. Atlas giggles.
"I kept the secret, mummy." I nodded at my boy.
George's eyes widened as he took in the significance of the booties. "Twins?" he whispered, his voice filled with wonder.
I nodded, tears of happiness streaming down my cheeks. "Twins, Georgie. We're going to have twins." The room erupted in joy once again, hugs and laughter filling the air. Molly beamed with pride as she watched her family celebrate this momentous occasion. As I looked around at the smiling faces of my loved ones, I felt a deep sense of gratitude and happiness. Our journey to this moment had been filled with twists and turns, but now, with the news of our twins, our future seemed brighter than ever before. And I couldn't wait to embark on this incredible adventure of parenthood with George, Atlas, and our growing family.
