Chapter 50

Jerome POV

"I've already spoken with your Dad and Shion. They confessed everything to me—all the plans from the very beginning. I also have the list of names of the people involved with them."

Nakahinga ako ng maluwag sa nalaman ko. Putangina! Kanina kasi kinakabahan ako nung tinawagan ako ni Mama para pauwiin dito sa mansyon namin.

"Mom.."

"I'm sorry, anak. Alam ko na sobra kang naapektuhan sa ginawa ng Papa mo hindi lang sa iyo pati na din kay Calix. I understand how you feel about your father. You know me, son. You know that I don't meddle in your life because you're grown up now and you already know right from wrong. Pero ang makita kang nasasaktan dahil sa ginawa ng sarili mong ama, yon ang hindi ko kaya. Ngayon ko lang ulit nakita si Mama na nag-drama mula nung nag-hiwalay sila ni Papa. Putangina! Naiiyak ako. Nahahawa na ako sa asawa ko. Nagiging iyakin na din ako.

"I feel relieved that you've sorted out the problems in your company. Even though they couldn't fully return the money they stole from you, at least everything's back to normal now. And one more thing, do you know how happy I was when you introduced me to Calix? You mentioned before that you had a crush on him because you mistook him for a girl. You even cried when they left."

Tangina! Hindi ko maalala yung pinagsasabi ni Mama dahil siguro bata pa ako. Ang naaalala ko lang ay may bata akong nakakalaro dati na sinasama ni Tita Imee sa office. At hindi ko akalain na ang batang yon ay si Calix. Akala ko talaga noon babae siya pero hindi pala. Na-scam ako ng asawa ko. Bakit kasi sobrang ganda niya simula pa nung bata kami? Mukha kasi siyang babae. Kainaman naman! Ayan tuloy, lumubo yung tiyan. Haha.

"How are things between you and Calix? Is he giving you a hard time with cravings? I'm sorry if Calix and my grandchildren got affected by your father's action.
I can't imagine na kayang gawin yon ng Papa mo sa mga apo niya. I apologize on behalf of your Dad. Don't worry, son, no one will hurt you anymore. Gaya nga ng sabi ko nung huling usap natin na once na maayos mo ang problema sa kompanya mo, I will wholeheartedly support both of you. You can finally marry him. I don't mind that you're both men. Shit! I was almost in tears listening to my mom's heartfelt words. It's heartwarming! I'm so happy that I finally received her blessing to marry Calix, but I know there's still something missing. I also wish for a blessing from my father, but I know it's impossible.

"Thanks for everything, Mom."

My mom just smiled at me and then looked at me. "No worries, son. But can you still do me one last favor?"

I nodded. "Yes, Mom. What is it?"

"Can you talk to Shion? I know she's hurting because of her Mom's death. I'm still upset with her for hurting you and getting involved with your father, but I know she did it to help her family. Talk some sense into her. I want both of you to find closure so you can heal from whatever pain you've caused each other in the past."

I sighed. "She hurt Calix, but I will talk to Shion."

"Thank you, anak. I know you harbor resentment towards both your father and Shion, but still, you're willing to mend the pain they caused."

"I'm still angry at them, Mom. It would have been okay if it were just me, but involving Calix and innocent children who don't deserve it—that's what I can't accept. But I'm still willing to talk to them. Pinapalipas ko lang ang galit ko sa kanila. Right now, what matters most to me is that my company is back on track and that Calix and I are okay."
