"We're coming there. We're reaching in 5 minutes" Jennie spoke on her phone while she sat behind Tae on his bike. Gripping on his shirt sleeve, Jennie suppressed her tension and fear as much as she could.
She couldn't be weak if she had to support her friend while she's going through such a hard time.
"Kim, you know she's gonna do it right? She'll push through for us. Don't stress yourself so much!" Taehyung spoke to her, still riding the vehicle. He could feel her nails tickling his side as she held his shirt in her fist.
"Shut up and drive faster!" She hissed at him. Taehyung, taken aback from her tone, turned the handle, increasing the speed of the bike. Cold air hit their faces, hair flying around.
When they finally reached the hospital, Jennie did not wait for the engine to stop and hopped down to the ground and rushed to the receptionist.
Taehyung also, quickly parked his bike and ran behind her. Under the cloudy faint weather, Taehyung could still notice her hair sticking to her face from the sweat.
The weather outside seemed to make everyone wear coats and caps. But Jennie, she wore worries and fear in her eyes.
"Where-" Taehyung got cut off by Jennie running up to the stairs. Taehyung caught her hand quick enough to stop her. "Let go! I need to see her! 5th floor!"
"You can't climb up to the 5th floor on foot. We'll take the elevator and reach faster" Taehyung explained while he pulled her to the elevator door.
Jennie smacked her lips in annoyance but let him take her without resisting. In a minute or so, they stood in the large elevator with some more people.
Taehyung pushed Jennie towards the corner and stood like a barrier between her and others in there. Jennie looked down at her crossed arms, waiting to reach the 5th floor as soon as possible.
Taehyung stood facing Jennie, staring down at her small figure in front of him. He realised how short she was compared to him. He pressed the number 5 on the board that displayed all the floors.
He noticed Jennie tugging on her own clothes in anxiousness. He placed his hand on her head, slowly caressing it to calm her down. "She's gonna be okay," he whispered to her.
She maintained eye contact for a few seconds before bending her head down again. Slightly leaning in to his shoulder, she stood silently, her shirt wrapped around her finger.
As the elevator stopped at each floor, people exited one by one. With more space to stand, Taehyung moved away from Jennie now.
"5th Floor" the automated voice announced. Immediately, Jennie scooted forward, stepping out even before the door completely opened.
"504, 504, 504" she chanted while reading number plates on doors. When she finally found the number, she wasted no time, dashing into the ward.
"Leah!" Her eyes brimmed with tears as she saw her pale friend lying on the bed in hospital gown. Her eyes were noticeably tired.
Andrew sat on a chair beside Leah's, eyes puffy from crying. Leah's mother sat near the window, also in deep sorrow.
"I'm sorry I couldn't make it earlier Leah, I'm so sorry..." Jennie sobbed on the floor with Leah's hand in her own. She gently kissed it, her face sensing the cold skin of her friend.
"How- How can I help you? What can I do to have you stick around for longer? Please..." She repeatedly asked, though there wasn't a valid answer.
"Let's have fun till i breathe; together" Leah whispered with the little energy left in her. Her words burned the wounds of grief in everyone's hearts more.
"You'll be here with us, alright? You're not going anywhere!" Andrew said coming closer to her kissing her forehead and her nose once. "Andy.. You know I love you right?" She brought her hands to his face, caressing it slowly and lightly.
"Leah, I don't have a ring for you now, but will you marry me?"
Everyone in the room had their eyes go wide with sudden proposal to marriage. "Oooh!" Taehyung hooted as if to tease and began to clap his hands in celebration.
"Is that a question? Yes!" Leah smiled with her eyes filled, happier than ever. The couple kissed briefly, joy filled to the very top of their hearts.
The mood lightened with Andrew's bold move. No one knew how long that would last; only time could tell.

Back in Jennie's room, both of them sat on the bed, immersed in their own thoughts. Jennie, while she thought about what she could do to keep Leah happy in the remaining days, Taehyung on the other hand was contemplating whether he should leave or stay with her since she was in such a low mood.
"Kim?" Taehyung called out in a low voice. But she was still so busy with thinking, she ignored it after looking to his side just once.
Too disturbed to sit, she got on her feet and started tying her hair up, probably walking to her desk to do something.
"Kim? Look here" he called out again. When she paid no heed, he neared her while she still stood before the desk.
"What happened to your neck? Is that nails?" He pushed a few strands of her loose hair from her neck.
"It's- it's nothing. Forget it," she stuttered, covering the marks with her hands. He gripped on her wrist and pushed it down. "I can clearly see the marks. It has turned blue! Just tell me what happened"
"Just forget it Taehyung! I- I accidentally slept on my nails yesterday, that's how I got it. Is it done?" She spoke without looking at him.
"You're lying" he whispered, his tone sounding angry already.
"Do I not know what has happened to me?" She finally faced him.
"Well, I don't! Because you're not telling me the truth-""Why do you care Taehyung? You'll probably not even remember me or these stupid wounds. It's only a few more days, after the quiz is done, you won't have to see my face. Why do you care then?" her voice started to shake mid voice. Tears forming in her eyes, threatening to fall to the ground. She tried her best to keep them in.
"Kim I-" he tried to come up with something, only to fail.
"Right? Please, you can leave now" she demanded, sniffling once. She held the door open for him.
"If that's what you want—" he packed his belongings and looked at her one last time before walking out the door.
As Jennie was about to close the door, and hand stopped her. "you're not just a tutor or a schoolmate to me, Kim. I thought we were friends" he spoke silently, only loud enough for her to hear.
The hand slowly slipped away and disappeared, footsteps on the stairs lessening the silence around.
Behind the door sat Jennie, wailing in quietness of the room. No lights turned on, the atmosphere outside made it darker even at 6 PM.
Her hands had tears running down them, eyes absolutely soaked, unable to open them. She feared if tomorrow came she might not see Leah or Taehyung again.
She hated to say that to Taehyung, but she knew the truth was accidentally leaked at the wrong time. When he was only trying to comfort her, she pushed him away.
"I'm so sorry Taehyung... I'm so sorry... I'm such a bad person..." She cried on the floor, her knees to her chest.
Not longer, the female fell into a slumber there. No wounds healed, physical nor emotional.
Time would fix everything; that is what everyone hoped that day...
