I was in my room, studying when the landline of the house chimed. Before I could reach it, Sid had already picked it up. His expressions turned panicky and he soon hung up.

"Who was it?" I asked, standing by the door.

"No one, just a wrong number." He shrugged.

"You panic talking to a wrong number?"

"I don't wanna lie to you." He shrugged.

"Then don't."

"But I don't want you to freak out!"

Good God! Did something happen to Agastya or what?

"Sid!"

"We get threat calls. It's nothing new. I get them every month. There's nothing to freak out." He sighed.

"Nothing to freak out! What did the person say?"

"Bhabhi, relax. It's just enmity for Agastya talking. It has been years now."

Is he for real?

"Did you file a complaint?"

"My brother, your husband is in the army!"

Shit. Of course!

"Are you sure that we don't need to worry?"

"No, we don't." He shrugged.

A few days after that conversation, the landline rang again. This time I was alone in the house. Siddhant was out for a client meeting. As soon as I picked up the receiver, a heavy voice came from the other side.

"Hello?"

"Never thought I would get to talk to you so soon. Do you know your husband has killed my family? Since he started this shit, I would have to get involved too, you know? Eye for an eye, family for a family and that reminds me, he only has his brother–"

Before I could respond reciprocate or comprehend, Sid snatched the receiver from my hands and put it back.

What the fuck!

"Sid, this is not some indirect abuse or wailing of an enemy, these are murderous threat calls. How are you taking this lightly?" My breath was already heavier.

"I am telling you, Megha, I get these every week. Nothing happens."

People die around me.

"We need to inform Agastya." I shook my head.

"No! Everything is fine. Don't you trust me?" He huffed out.

"I don't trust them," I yelled. "And my destiny," I whispered to myself.

"Megha-"

"Sid, please," I said, cracking my knuckles.

"Okay, fine! How about we tip Anniruddh about this? He will take care of the rest."
