"Megha! Hi." It was a male voice. Precisely Varun. "What a pleasant surprise!" He exclaimed.

Not for me!

"Hey!" I tried to sound cheerful. I guess I just didn't have that energy. And I am definitely not a good pretender.

The two men also greeted each other with a handshake. I could tell by looking at Agastya that he was annoyed. I tried to look at him but he looked away.

Perfect!

Just perfect!

"Do you know people in the army?" I asked Varun directly. I mean, only family members of the army men should be invited.

"Yeah. That's my brother." He pointed at Reyank.

Damn!

We were sitting at the round table. Varun took a seat beside me even though his brother was sitting somewhere else. Agastya was on my other side. He let out a sigh. If I wasn't sitting beside him, I might've missed it.

"Oh My God! Agastya you are sitting here! I looked for you literally everywhere."

And that was Amara. She squealed as she spotted my man!

I mean...

Forget it. I just don't have the energy.

She circled her arms around him as usual and gave him the tightest hug possible. Agastya had to take support of the table to handle them both.

"You look amazing as always!" She whistled, checking him out from head to toe.

"You look good too." He cleared his throat.

"Megha, you look so good in a saree! You should wear them often." She said, giving me a side hug.

"You look amazing too. Red is really your colour!"

She did look beautiful in that red full-length gown. I could see single men stealing glances at her.

"Oh my God! Varun, is that you?" She again screamed in excitement.

"So you finally decided to give me some attention," Varun said, getting up from his seat to greet her.

"You two know each other, of course!" Agastya said as I took my seat.

The two over-enthusiastic kids with the other two absolutely drained out adults, the night couldn't get any kinder.

Emotionally drained out.

Talk about yourself! Agastya looks happy.

How can I yell at my own subconscious?

"Do you want something?" Agastya whispered to me amidst the loud noise and Amara and Varun's constant efforts to make a conversation with us. I shook my head in response. I couldn't help but constantly fidget with the ring he gave me.
