the record of a single's night's events
Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, Athena blinked awake to find Octavia standing before her, inviting her to join her and Jasper in the forest.
"I think it'll help him get over his fear of being outside the walls," Octavia explained, her confidence unwavering as she looked to Athena for a response.
Athena considered Octavia's suggestion, recognizing the potential benefits of exposing Jasper to the outdoors. Despite her own weariness, she nodded in agreement.
"Sure, I'll come with you," Athena replied with a gentle smile, ready to offer whatever support she could to Jasper as they ventured into the forest together.
As they approached the boundary of the camp, Athena walked alongside Jasper, offering silent support as Octavia took the lead, urging him to step beyond the safety of the walls.
"Jasper, it's been a week, okay? You've been given a second chance. You gotta use it," Octavia encouraged.
Suddenly, Octavia was pulled into the bushes, leaving Athena and Jasper frozen in shock. Reacting quickly, Athena moved to Jasper's side, her instincts on high alert as they braced themselves for whatever awaited them in the shadows.
"OCTAVIA""Octavia? Octavia? Octavia! Octavia, are you okay?" Jasper and Athena yell as fast as Octavia was pulled in to the bushes she was released. Behind the bushes popped out one of the delinquents laughing loudly as Octavia pushed and yelled at him."Hey, jerk! Get the hell out of here. Jasper, come on. There's nothing to be afraid of."
Jasper annoyed at the fact that he got scared, turns around to leave but instead falls. Athena's heart raced as she knelt beside Jasper, concern etched on her features. But her attention was quickly drawn to his gaze, following his line of sight to see what had caught his attention.
Turning her head, she was met with a sight that sent shivers down her spine.A chill ran down Athena's spine as she realized the significance of the scene before them. Whatever lurked in these woods was far more sinister than they had anticipated, and the realization filled her with a sense of dread unlike anything she had ever known.
Athena's voice trembled with horror as she cried out, "Is that a finger?" Her urgency was palpable as she grabbed Jasper, pulling him to his feet with a sense of urgency.
Octavia's startled exclamation echoed Athena's shock as she caught sight of the gruesome discovery. "Oh my god, we need to get out of here. Someone call Clarke or Bellamy," Athena urged, her voice urgent as she took charge of the situation.Without hesitation, Athena guided the younger teenagers, back into the camp.
As Octavia rushed to her brother, Bellamy's expression shifted from shock to a steely resolve as he processed the gravity of the situation. Quickly regaining his composure, he wasted no time in rallying a group of volunteers to investigate the scene outside the camp.
Meanwhile, Athena remained rooted to the spot, her mind racing with a mixture of fear and dread. The realization of the danger lurking in the forest weighed heavily on her, and she couldn't shake the gnawing sense of unease.
She senses someone coming up to her, looking up at making eye contact with Murphy. Murphy's concern was evident as he looked at her, his eyes scanning her for any signs of distress. "Are you alright?" he asked, his tone laced with genuine concern. "You look weird."
Athena offered him a small, reassuring smile, not wanting to alarm him with the gravity of what they had discovered outside. "Geez, thanks Murphy, but yeah, I'm okay," she replied, brushing off his observation. Despite her attempt to appear composed, the weight of their discovery lingered heavily on her mind, and she couldn't shake the sense of unease that gripped her.
"Thanks Murphy" she says grabbing his arm as he turns away to leave " i appreciate it" "You're welcome," he replied softly. "You used to check on me so often back on the ark, I had to return the favor."
Her heart warmed at his words, memories flooding back of their unlikely friendship forged in the solitude of the Ark. After Murphy's parents were floated, Athena had reached out to him, seeking solace in his company. What started as a simple gesture of kindness blossomed into a genuine connection, and they found comfort in each other's presence.
But when Murphy was arrested, Athena was once again left to grapple with her loneliness. It was only then that she realized how much she had come to value their friendship, and how much she missed having him by her side.
As Athena reflected on her brief interaction with Murphy, she felt a sense of comfort wash over her. Despite the chaos and uncertainty surrounding them, their conversation had provided a momentary reprieve from the grim reality of their situation.
Determined to reconnect with Murphy once the current situation had passed, Athena made a silent promise to herself. She would make an effort to bridge the gap that had formed between them.
.Athena observes Bellamy walk into a tent , where Clarke, Octavia and Jasper join him. She rushes into the tent to see what theyre talking about. "This knife was made of metal from the dropship." Clarke announces to the Group. "What?!" Athena exclaimed involuntarily, the shock evident in her voice as she processed the implications of Clarke's revelation.
Her outburst drew the attention of everyone in the tent, their gazes turning towards her as she awkwardly mumbled an apology. Moving to stand next to Bellamy, Athena couldn't shake the feeling of apprehension that settled over her, realising that their situation had taken a troubling turn.
"What do you mean?" Jasper asks. Clarke's intensity only grew. "Who else knows about this?" she demanded, her focusunwavering.
Bellamy spoke up, his voice steady as he confirmed, "No one. It was brought straight here."Athena's attention shifted to Bellamy, realizing that they hadn't spoken since the tragic loss of Atom. He seemed to have reverted to his role as the tough leader, a stark contrast to the vulnerability she had seen in him during their time in the cave.
Sensing Clarke's silence, Athena turned to her, seeking her thoughts on the matter. "Clarke? What are you thinking right now?" Athena asked, her voice tinged with concern.
Clarke's response was grave. "It means the Grounders didn't kill Wells. It was one of us," she concluded, her words hanging heavily in the air.
"Wait what? It was Wells? " Athena's mind raced as she tried to absorb the devastating news. Two deaths in quick succession, and now one of them was someone she had genuinely liked. The weight of the situation bore down on her, filling her with a sense of profound sadness and disbelief.
Bellamy's voice broke through the tense atmosphere, his words a stark reminder of the uncertainty that surrounded them. "You don't even know whose knife that is," he stated, his tone grave as he emphasized the gravity of their situation.
As Athena processed the devastating news of Wells' death, she felt a comforting hand on her shoulder. Turning slightly, she met Bellamy's gaze, finding solace in his reassuring presence. His touch offered a small measure of comfort amidst the chaos, grounding her in the midst of chaos.
"Oh, really? J.M. John Murphy. The people have a right to know."
