someone you find yourself thinking about all the time
Athena lay in her tent, staring at the fabric ceiling, unable to relax. Clarke had instructed her to rest after a long day of caring for the sick teenagers, but her mind wouldn't quiet. The success of Raven's mission to blow up the bridge should have been the highlight of her thoughts, and she was genuinely relieved. However, something else dominated her mind, something much more personal and confusing.
Bellamy Blake.
Every time she closed her eyes, she saw his face. Every time she tried to clear her mind, she heard his voice.
She remembered the way he had looked at her earlier, the brief moments when their eyes met and lingered just a little too long. Her heart raced at the memory. Was it possible he felt the same way? Athena wasn't sure, and that uncertainty gnawed at her.
She knew how dangerous it was to get close to anyone in their world, how fleeting life could be. But she couldn't help it; her feelings for Bellamy were growing stronger by the day.
With a sigh, she rolled over, trying to push the thoughts away. She needed to rest, to be ready for whatever came next. But even as she closed her eyes, the image of Bellamy's smile was the last thing she saw before sleep finally took her.
Athena was jolted awake by a foul stench that filled the air, causing her to cough and sputter. With a sense of urgency, she threw open the flap of her tent, her heart pounding in her chest as she emerged into the night.
Her eyes widened in horror as she beheld the scene before her: flames licked hungrily at the edges of a nearby hut, casting eerie shadows in the darkness. Without hesitation, she sprang into action, her instincts kicking into high gear as she rushed toward the inferno.
"Octavia, you okay?" she called out, her voice tinged with concern as she spotted her friend emerging from the burning structure. Beside her, Bellamy moved with swift determination, his eyes scanning the scene for any signs of danger.
Amidst the chaos of flames and shouting, Octavia's coughing nod was a small reassurance amidst the turmoil.
But before Athena could fully process the situation, Murphy's loud shouting drew her attention to another altercation unfolding nearby.
As Bellamy hurried to separate the fighting boys, Athena felt a surge of frustration wash over her.
The realization that they had just lost all of their food hit her like a punch to the gut.
"Well, now what the hell are we gonna do? That was all the food," Octavia's voice rang out, the desperation in her tone echoing Athena's own inner turmoil.
As the fire was extinguished, Athena and Octavia immediately began searching for any remaining food. Athena turned to Octavia, asking what had happened.
"Del piled on too much wood, and the fire got out of control," Octavia explained. Athena shot a frustrated glance at Del, who seemed indifferent to the chaos he had caused.
"Is there anything left to eat?" Athena asked, her concern evident.
"We have some wild onions and nuts in the dropship. It's only enough to last us maybe one or two weeks. What's left here?" Clarke's voice cut through the tension as she joined Athena and Octavia. Bellamy soon followed, his expression grave.
"Nothing," both the Blake siblings and Athena replied in unison.
"Then we have to hunt. Anyone we can spare goes out," Clarke commanded, her tone firm and resolute.
"With the whole Grounder army out there?" Bellamy's question hung in the air.
Athena, however, couldn't bring herself to meet his gaze, her thoughts consumed by the realization from earlier. Unspoken emotions swirled within her, tangled and confusing, as she grappled with the weight of her feelings for him.
Despite the gravity of their situation, Athena found herself unable to shake the intensity of her emotions. The mere presence of Bellamy beside her sent a flurry of butterflies fluttering in her stomach, and she struggled to maintain her composure in his presence.
"Look, we can't defend ourselves if we're starving," Clarke argued, her point hitting home for Athena. As much as she dreaded the idea of facing potential danger in the woods, her growling stomach reminded her of the harsh reality of their situation.
In the bustling atmosphere of the dropship, Bellamy's commanding voice cut through the chaos, laying out the plan for their hunt.
"Each group takes someone with a gun, and they're for killing Grounders, not food. We don't have the ammo. Use the spears for hunting. Get what you can. Be back by nightfall. No one stays out after dark."
Athena scanned the crowd, searching for a familiar face to partner with, only to feel a firm grip on her arm.
"Wanna team up?" Jasper's voice broke through the clamor, and relief flooded through Athena at the sight of someone she knew. With a quick nod, she agreed, already mentally preparing herself for the task ahead.
"I'll just go grab a spear," Athena announced, making her way toward the weapons cache. As she selected a spear, it felt unfamiliar and awkward in her hands, but she knew she couldn't afford to stay behind while others ventured out to hunt.
Returning to Jasper's side, Athena's eyes scanned the crowd for him, only to spot Bellamy standing beside her friend.
"Oh"
