butterflies in stomach
Athena sprinted across the room, her heart pounding in her chest. She desperately clawed at the rope , trying to loosen its deadly grip. "Please," she whispered, her voice shaking with fear as she tugged and pulled at the unyielding fibers. "Please, just work."
Suddenly, the door burst open and Jasper rushed in. He dashed across the room, his face pale with worry.
With renewed strength, Athena pulled at the rope, her fingers aching as she worked to free Bellamy. Jasper added his own desperate tugs, his muscles straining with effort.
Octavia followed close behind Jasper, her eyes widening in horror at the scene before her. "We have to get him down!" Jasper yelled, his voice hoarse with urgency.
With one final heave, the rope snapped apart. Bellamy's body went limp, his weight falling heavily against the cold, hard ground. Jasper and Athena rolled him onto his back, his face deathly pale in the dim light.
"Bell!" Octavia dropped to her knees beside him, her hands shaking as she reached for his face. "Hold on, yeah? Bell, breathe!" she begged, her voice cracking with tears.
"Is he...is he breathing?" Jasper asked, his voice barely audible.
Athena cradled Bellamy's face in her trembling hands, her eyes wide with fear. "Bellamy, breathe!" she urged, her voice high and panicked. She stared down at his ashen face, her heart pounding in her chest.
Then, suddenly, his body convulsed. A loud, gasping breath rattled from his throat. Athena felt a sob of relief tear from her own mouth. "Thank God," she whispered, her voice shaking.
"Come on, Bellamy," Octavia murmured, her voice a soothing counterpoint to Athena's panic. "You're okay. You're okay." Athena reached out, her fingers gently brushing a sweat-dampened lock of hair from Bellamy's forehead.
Athena nodded, her eyes never leaving Bellamy's face. "You're okay," she repeated. She felt a warm tear roll down her cheek, dropping onto Bellamy's skin. "You're okay," she whispered again, her voice filled with gratitude.
"Murphy! Murphy, it's over!" Bellamy's voice boomed through the room, echoing off the cold stone walls.
He surged to his feet, his eyes blazing with a fierce determination. "Murphy, there's only one way out of this for you now!" he bellowed, his fists clenched at his sides.
Athena could only stare, her body still trembling with the aftershocks of their near-disaster. She sat frozen on the hard ground, her hands braced behind her for support. Her eyes were wide and shocked, fixed on Bellamy's towering form.
She slightly tapped the back of her head, her fingers coming away wet and warm. Bringing her hand into view, she stared at the crimson liquid dripping from her fingertips, her mind struggling to process what she was seeing. The edges of her vision started to blur, and a wave of dizziness washed over her.
"I don't feel so good," she murmured, her voice trembling. Her knees buckled, and she swayed unsteadily.
"Hey, are you okay?" a concerned voice called out from nearby, but it sounded distant, muffled, as if it were coming from underwater. She tried to focus on the direction of the voice, but her vision was tunneling, the world around her fading into darkness.
Suddenly, her legs gave out completely, and she collapsed to the ground. The last thing she heard was the frantic sound of footsteps rushing towards her before everything went black.
-
"What if she's seriously hurt?" a hushed voice murmured, laced with worry.
Athena's head pounded like a relentless drum, each throb intensifying the pain. She let out a groan, the sound escaping her lips involuntarily as she struggled to open her eyes.
