(I apologize for not updating last week, I had a severe mental health crisis and a lot of other stuff that prevented me from posting. Blind AU! On the way home from a date, Nico and Will get t-boned. One of them doesn't fully recover afterwards. ⚠️Slight Angst⚠️)

~Will POV~

Nico sat in silence.

"Darling." I said. "Lift up your head."

He only grumbled in response. I huffed.

"Nico." I said.

I grabbed his chin and tilted his head up, slipping the spoon in his mouth.

"You can't just not eat." I said. "I know how upset you are but eating isn't optional."

"Of course I'm upset!" He shouted, throwing his hands up and knocking the spoon out of my grasp. "I'm blind! Will! I'm blind! I'm more than just upset! I'm furious! I can't see what I'm doing! I can't walk around! I can't do anything! I can't watch the sunset! I can't see anything..."

His voice died and he let his hands fall to his sides. I cupped his cheek in my palm, running my thumb along his delicate cheek bone.

"I know." I said. "I know you're going through hell and I have no idea how this feels for you but if you talked to me then I could help you get through it. You're my husband, just let me help you."

Then the dam broke. Nico started to sob, tears running down his cheeks as he tackled me. Crocodile tears soaked my shirt as I hugged him. I held him to my chest, running my hands through his hair and squeezing his shoulders.

This is the first time he's been anything other than angry since the accident...

[Flashback To A Month Prior]

Nico's still unconscious...

I kissed his forehead and squeezed his hand.

"I should've been the one driving, not you." I said. "Please wake up, Nico..."

"Dr. Solace-Di Angelo?" Someone said.

I looked up. Nico's doctor. Dr. Chase I think.

"Yeah?" I said. "What is it?"

"Sir, during the accident, your husband suffered a head injury." Dr. Chase said.

"Clearly." I replied, annoyed. "Why else would he be unconscious?"

"No, I mean, he suffered an injury to the optical lobe." He said.

"He'll have some difficulty recognizing colors? Is that all you're trying to tell me?" I asked.

"The lobe wasn't just damaged." He said. "It was completely crushed. There were some attempts to save it but they were unsuccessful."

The realization settled on me.

"He's going to be completely blind." I said.

"I'm sorry." He said. "But yes, your husband is going to be blind."

I squeezed Nico's hand.

"I know this is going to be tough but there are facilities where he can get around the clock care." The doctor said. "I can request the hospital send you that information."

"I'm not sending him to some facility. He's my husband." I said. "I'll care for him."

[Flashback End]

Nico continued sobbing into my chest until he couldn't even make a sound. I kissed his head.
