"Bae, have you seen my watch?" Meech called out, his heart racing as he darted around the bedroom, his eyes scanning every surface, every corner, every conceivable hiding place. His new watch—a sleek, high-tech piece with a black stainless steel band—had gone missing.
He had just bought it the week before, and it was real. So the idea of losing it was causing him immense stress; especially because the bedroom was in a bit of disarray, with the bed half-made. The man had already searched the bedside tables, under the bed, and even Tink's vanity, but there was no sign of the watch.
However, Trinity was in the bathroom brushing her teeth. The morning was just starting for her, and her reply was garbled, a muffled "No" since her mouth was filled with toothpaste. She didn't even turn around; she was focused on her morning routine, her mind not quite ready to deal with Meech's frantic search.
The bathroom was modest but neatly organized, with a set of white towels hanging on the rack and a small basket of toiletries on the counter.
Nonetheless, the couple were both clad in their work clothes. Meech was dressed in a gray sweater that hugged his shoulders, black chinos, and his favorite black leather shoes. It was a cool morning, and he needed the sweater for warmth. He prided himself on his style, always aiming to look sharp, even on casual days.
And being late without his watch, felt like his morning was slipping out of control. It was already 6:40 a.m., and he needed to be at work by 7:15. He and Trinity usually woke up around five to have time to get ready together, sharing the bathroom just because. They drove separately to work though since they had their own cars—but they liked to leave the house at the same time.
After a moment, Trinity then rinsed out her mouth and called back to Meech, "I don't know, baby, maybe check on top of the dresser?"
She was dressed in her dark blue scrubs, ready for her shift at the hospital. Her hair was tied up in a tidy bun, held in place with a claw clip. She wore her usual white New Balance sneakers, and her Apple Watch gleamed on her wrist.
Then, Meech's hurried footsteps were heard the moment headed to the dresser. It was a dark wood dresser with a smooth surface, cluttered with various items: a few receipts, a stack of his wife's jewelry boxes, a small lamp, and some loose change.
As he sifted through the items, he finally spotted his watch, tucked behind one of Trinity's jewelry boxes. He let out a sigh of relief and quickly slipped it on his wrist.
"I got it, thanks bae" He stopped to kiss Trinity on the cheek once back in the bathroom—his voice softer now that his watch was found. And now, he was putting on some cologne; a subtle scent of cedarwood and citrus filled the room, mingling with the rich scent of Trinity's perfume too.
The man absent-mindedly left his phone on the bathroom counter while he went back into the bedroom to do whatever while Trinity was applying a light touch of some mascara.
