The sound of Dayvon's car door slamming shut with a thud echoed throughout the neighborhood before he marched his way up the walkway, his fists slightly clenched at his sides without him even noticing. He had been trying to reach Kema since the last time they talked but his calls were still going straight to voicemail.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. So he decided to just pop up over her house because why the hell was she still being stubborn? And not only that, he wanted to buy Kai a phone and maybe take him ice skating.
He then reached the front door and knocked firmly, his knuckles connecting with the wood in a rhythmic pattern that seemed to match his agitation. He paused for a moment, listening for any signs of movement inside.
It was an early Sunday morning, and the neighborhood was still mostly asleep.
And he could also see boxes stacked near the front window, partially packed and ready for the move he had been told about. The sight only fueled his irritation further—even though the last thing he wanted was to argue. But this situation wasn't fair to either him or his son.
However, Von knocked again, louder this time, his patience wearing thin. "Kema, open the door. I needa talk to you" He called out, trying to keep his voice cool despite his growing frustration. The quietness of the house made him wonder if she was ignoring him or just simply sleeping.
After what felt like an eternity though—the door finally creaked open, revealing Kema in a robe. Her eyes were still half-closed, and she rubbed them absentmindedly as she looked at him. Her hair was disheveled too, and there was a hint of annoyance on her face as she blinked, trying to fully wake up.
"Who is it bae?" A man in nothing but boxers suddenly shuffled into view, his arms sliding around Kema's waist. He nuzzled his face into her neck, clearly still half-asleep too while yawning.
His presence, uninvited and casual, only added to Dayvon's irritation. Because who the hell...
"Who the fuck is this nigga?" His eyes narrowed, letting out an unbelievable chuckle.
That's when Kema froze, her eyes widening once she took in the sight of her boyfriend who casually draped around her and her baby father, whose gaze shifted between her and the man behind her.
The tension in the air was now intense while this random guy's arms remained around Kema, oblivious to the awkward and heated confrontation unfolding at the front door.
"Von...what are you doing here?" The woman began, her face flushing with embarrassment.
But Dayvon only ignored her. "This who you been having around my son?" He took a step forward. "You think it's okay to have some random ass dude hanging around my kid? Fuck is wrong with you?"
Kema's boyfriend, who was now confused, frowned and released her. "Yo, chill out. Who the fuck you talking to like that?" He asked, clearly offended.
"Broke ass boy, youn even know me. Shut the fuck up" Von snapped seriously, his anger barely contained. Just as the tension between the two men was about to escalate into a full-blown fight, Kema stepped in between them, her hands pressed firmly against their chests to hold them back. The slight smile on her baby father's face told her everything she needed to know—he was more than ready to handle Deshae.
