IRL - A Cat's Fortress

It has been 2 months since the incident with the collector who is still frozen in ice and has now been sent to the shadow prisons so he will never bother anyone again, it was a week till valentine's day and it's also a week until emily gives birth to her baby, she was fine with the pregnancy until now as the baby seems to be acting restless as it moves around a lot and kicks a little too unexpectedly making emily react to it with a flinch or a bit of pain as it depends on how hard the baby kicked, emily was trying to cope but the baby lately has been more unsettled during the day but calm at night which was a good thing, it was a nice night and emily was fast asleep in her comfy bed when suddenly above emily, a portal appears, the portal was green and swirly and then it starts sucking emily up, emily wakes up a little too late as she disappears into the portal and then the portal disappears like it wasn't there.
it was a dark night and the moon was shining brightly on a old mining town called 'coal town' which was written on a sign on a arch that was between 2 buildings, in the right building and there were 8 man in there as well as a person in a gas mask, one one in the red shirt, hat and headphones was scout, then the one on the helmet over his eyes was called soldier, the gas mask wearing person was called pyro, the one with the dark skin, eye patch and the chunky body armour was called demoman, the one with the bald head and the chunky body was called heavy, the one with the overalls and the backwards hard hat was called engineer, the one with the gray glasses and the white coat was called medic, the one with hat and sunglasses was called sniper and lastly, the one with the skii mask and the red suit was called spy, the 9 mercenaries looked really tired as they all stood around the room while soldier and engineer were standing in front of a little station that had the word 'upgrade' above it in red, bold writing which was also glowing a little
"right then, maggots, i know it's late and we all should of got some sleep for tomorrow's battle with the BLU team but miss.pauling has told us that the robots will be attacking here so we need to prepare for the attack" soldier says on his strict bossy voice and engineer nods next to him as he holds out his wrench to the others
"yeah, those robots will be here at any moment so upgrade your weapons and then go into position around the front" engineer says and the others nods bit looked exhausted
the group then go to the upgrade station while others went to the one in the left building as there was 2 and then updated all their weapons before going to the front using engineer's teleporter, the 9 mercenaries had different weapons with scout having a scattergun, mad milk which is a glass bottle of milk and a strange looking fan called the fan 'o' war, soldier had a cream rocket launcher called the original, a backpack with a trumpet called the buff banner and a horse whip called the disciplinary action, pyro had a flamethrower called the phlogistinator, a gas can called the gas passer and a hammer called the powerjack, demo had the grenade launcher, stickybomb launcher and a frying pan, heavy had the mini gun which he named sasha, a sandwich and his fists, engineer had his sentry and dispenser set up as well as a exit teleporter, he has a shotgun called the panic attack, a controller with a saulite dish on front called the wrangler and a wrench, medic had a crossbow called the crusader's crossbow, a medigun with a attachment on the nozzle called the kritskreg and a strange looking saw called the ubersaw, sniper had a silencer sniper rifle called the hitman's heatmaker, a smg and a big knoife called the bushwhacker and lastly spy had his disguise kit where he can turn into anyone on the enemy team as well as a watch that can turn him invisible but he also had a revolver and a butterfly knife.
the mercenary then waited for the robots to come looking dertermined to kill them, then they waited...and waited...and waited until an hour had passed and the robots weren't appearing yet, almost all the mercs were asleep at this point with soldier and engineer asleep together on engineer's chair, medic and sniper were asleep on medic's doctor/dentist chair, heavy was slumped ageist one of the buildings holding his minigun close to him, demo was asleep in his deck chair, pyro was in his gas filled swimming pool curled up like a dog in a dog bed, spy was in his red chair asleep and scout was slumped on his beanbag trying to sleep, suddenly scout wakes up shocked as he heard strange music, the music sounded haunting and it was like it was coming from a record player but there was no record players around, he listens in trying to figure out where the music was coming from as he looked around but it was now gone only hearing the light to heavy snoring from the others and the crickets chirping away as the sky was clear showing no clouds making the stars and the moon shine, scout them goes back to sleep and he soon falls asleep like the others.
meanwhile in the left building at the back where the upgrade station was and the green portal appears a few feet of the ground where it places emily before disappears again like it was never there, emily was more awake now and she manages to save herself from crashing to the floor, she looks around to see she was in a wooden building with some artefacts behind 3 of the 3 glass containers but one of them seem to be broken and the artefact stolen, she wonders what it was but then she ignores it as she looks around the room
'so, where am i?' emily thought as she looks around then she sees the upgrade station 'upgrade? what is being upgraded?' she thinks as she flies over to the station
she looks around seeing that there were weapons hung up in the walls behind the counter and there were also ammo and health also behind the counter, she knew now it was weapons that were being upgraded but why? aren't weapons powerful enough to take down anything so why do they need more upgrading, she then spots something behind the counter and she sees it was a newspaper and a thin book called 'mercenaries guide to defenting gray mann's robot army and some other things', she decides to look though the book out of curiosity and she finds out about the lore of teufort, the mann brothers, redmond and blutarch with their lost triplet brother, gray, a man named saxton hale and his family tree of his dad and grandad, the mercenaries and some other stuff, after reading the book, emily stares at the book for a moments before getting seriously confused
"...wat?" emily says out loud confused and she tries to think it over but couldn't
she then felt her baby kicking her like it was telling her off for yelling even though emily whispered it in a confused way
"oh, sorry!" emily says as she looks down at her baby bump
she grazes her paw on her baby bump and she looks at the newspaper to see the date, the date said '7th february 1969' and this made emily realise she had gone back 39 years, she then looks at the door which was a metal garage like door and she finally decides to explore outside, when she gets outside, she sees that it was dark and sees that the building in the entire place was made our of wood, she also sees there is a ramp to her right and sole stairs to her left going up a small hill to some more buildings, she sees that there is a big wooden building in the middle which had 2 big stairs on each side and then a very deep pit in the middle, emily flies passed the pit looking a bit scared seeing how deep it was and then she land in the roof where she runs over to some wood poking out the front, she jumps onto the top part seeing it was a sigh for the building she was on and then she sees the mercs sleeping
'oh, dose must be da mercenaries da book i read talked about' emily thought as she looks around at them as they still slept
she looks at the mercenary after remembering what they look like from the book and she can instantly see after looking at them that there were 2 same sex couples in the group as the couples were sleeping together, she smiles seeing how cute they looked as they were sleeping together peacefully and then she was about to look around more when she suddenly grans her baby bump as the baby was kicking again but this time more often
"wh-what wrong w-with you" emily says in a whisper as she squeezes her eyes in pain as she had both her paws on her baby bump
suddenly she hears a noise making her ears perk up, the noise was some type of music being played on a record player and it sounded eerie and strange, it then started to make emily feel uncomfortable as she makes her ears go down and she looks around scared, she then suddenly felt like someone was behind her and she slowly turns around then gasps in fright making electricity come off her as she sees a life sized marionette looking like heavy but it also had a very distorted face which what made emily gasp, she then fires off her electricity which does hit it but it wasn't effected by it making emily look even more scared, the marionette then disappears suddenly with the music suddenly stopping too making emily look around in fright and she sighs in relief when she doesn't see it anymore
"wh-what was dat?!" emily says with fear in her voice as she was breathing a little too hard but still whispering as she looks around scared with big wide eyes
she then composes herself as she can feel her baby still kicking her so she calms it down by rubbing her baby bump affectionally which seems to work as the baby stops kicking, she sighs in relief and then looks over at the mercenaries who were all still asleep peacefully making emily sigh in relief that they didn't wake up to her electricity as it can be loud sometimes especially when she's scared, angry or sad, she then feels her exhausten catching up to her as she was feeling tired but at the same time, she felt like she needed to guard for that marionette just in case it decides to attack one of the mercenaries which even though she didn't know them at all and just met them, she felt like she needed to as they were vulnerable as they slept
'umm...what to do? what to do?' emily thought as she paces back and forth in the sigh
she then decides just to have a nap while listening out for anything like the music so she lies down in the sigh and she closes her eyes while keeping her ears perked up as she listens, an hour later and emily ended up falling asleep with her legs tucked in and her right paw under her head while the other was dangling off a little, the mercenaries were still asleep but the snoring had stopped as they were having a connected dream, in the dream, the mercenaries were in a place called upward and all of them were confused as they look around spawn
"hey guys, i thought we were in coal town, how did we get in upward?" scout asks as he turns around the the others
"i don't know but-" engineer says thinking but then he was cut off by soldier
"let's go and attacks those blu sons of b*tches!" soldier says happily and he runs off laughing happily
the other look at each other confused while engineer pinches the bridge it his nose
'that's my boyfriend, everyone...he's cute' engineer says and he watches as the others go off to catch up with soldier
engineer sets up a teleporter and then goes with the others to the front line, the others get to the blu spawn door and when they get there, they see that soldier wasn't moving as he looked shocked
"uhh, soldier, are you okay?" scout asks as he pokes soldier in the face not seeing what soldier was seeing
scout and the others look where soldier was looking and were shocked as they finally see why soldier was shocked, in front of them was lots of blood, cut off limbs, organs and broken weapons all over the place which made everyone uncomfortable
"wh-...what in the bloody hell happened here?!" sniper says speaking up completely shocked and his voiced cracked a little due to his fear
the other didn't answer as they didn't know but then suddenly they perk up a little as they heard something, the sound they heard was music and scout lights up hearing it
"i heard this music before! it sounded like it was coming from a record player but i couldn't find or see one around before i-...fell asleep..." scout explains full of worry but then he stops himself when he realises what he said "guys..." he adds and the others also realise what was going on
"this is a dream and we need to get out of it before-" medic says seriously as he looks at the others but then he was cut off by pyro
'look!' pyro says pointing sounding scared as he points to the blu spawn door
there standing at the blu spawn door was a marionette that looked like heavy but the face was distorted so it looked almost nothing like heavy other then the clothes that were painted on to it, everyone starts stepping back slowly while keeping their eyes (or eye in demoman's case) on the marionette, the marionette then starts to creep closer and this caused everyone to bolt with scout running ahead as he was the fastest, they all run back to the spawn room hoping that the marionette monster wouldn't fund them in there
"oh god! we are going to die to a freakin' wooden puppet monster!" scout says frightened as he was crouched in the corner
"this is definitely not on the things i was expecting to encounter in this job" demoman says and he takes a drink of his scrumpy bottle
"right boys, i know what we have to do, as scout said earlier, we are in a dream so all we have to do is try and wake ourselves up" engineer explains and everyone looks at him worried
"how do we do that, man?!" scout says scared and engineer thinks but he had no idea then glances over to medic
"uhh...just think of waking up and you should, wake up? i think" medic says unsure himself if they will wake up
suddenly there was some knocking in the metal door while the music came back and the group look at the door with wide eye fear, the door then suddenly blows off and the marionette was standing there in a A-pose, the group huddle together scared with soldier and engineer hugging each other while medic was hiding and hugging sniper from behind, the group were getting ready to be killed by this monster when suddenly something smack the marionette in the face making it fly back falling off the platform on to the ground below, the mercenaries look up to see what it was as they heard the smack and they see a cat that is red and white with wings coming out of her back
"hurry, wake up before it comes back again!" the cat yells out but her mouth didn't move and the mercs look at each other confused before doing what the cat says
they try to wake up and they seem to not be waking up, suddenly they see scout and pyro disappear as they had now woken up back at coaltown and they pant frighten thinking they weren't going to get out of that dream, soon the others start waking up with heavy first, then spy, then soldier and when he wakes up, he almost forgot engineer was on top of him but then grabbed him making him not fall off, engineer then woke up as he gasps while sitting up then he remembered where he was, sniper and medic woke up at the same time and the pair almost fell off the dentist chair but caught themselves and lastly demo woke up as he was trying to get out of his drunk sleep which he finally did leaving emily with the marionette
"who are you?" emily says looking aggressive as she was snarling and growling while staring at the marionette
the marionette didn't say anything as it stood there and emily keeps growling and snarling, she then wakes up when she felt kicking around her stomach and she pants in shock then calms down seeing she was back in the coal town, she then realises that her baby helped her wake up and she was glad she was out of the dream as she cresses her baby bump a little while smirking, she looks around after being fully awake then she sees the mercenaries gathering around as they were slowly recovering from the dream
"what the hell was that dream about?" scout asks confused after everyone was in the circle
"i don't know but i think that marionette looking creature is the reason we had it in the first place" spy replies and he looked scared even if he was trying to hide it
"i bet that marionette has something to do with merasmus!" demo says looking annoyed as he slams his fist into his hand
"i agree with demo, he is the only one who fully knows how to use magic so he must of sent that marionette to spook us!" soldier says angry and he looked annoyed
"that is a good theory, soldier-hun but there is one big problem with that" engineer says as he calmly looks at soldier looking worried
"what's that?" soldier asks confused as he looks at engineer with a heat tilt like a puppy
"it's that halloween was 5 months ago and it's valentine's day next week, merasmus only come out to pull halloween pranks on us in october and the first week of november so it's unlikely to be merasmus" engineer explains and the other look worried at each other as engineer was right
"so, if merasmus wasn't the cause for that marionette monsta, then why is it haunting us?" scout says then asks as he looks around paranoid
"i don't know but i don't like it and we should either get out of this place or figure out what that thing is and why it's haunting us on a none halloween month" spy explains and the others hum as they think on what to do
"...um hey, lads, off topic for a sec but, what was that red and white cat that saved us?" sniper says speaking up after being quiet as he was thinking
"i don't know, never seen it before but it was very fascinating" medic says next to sniper and he shakes his head a little knowing medic would like it
'i'm fascinating! wow!' emily thought happily with big eyes feeling loved as she still stands above the sigh looking down at the mercs
"was it part of the dream?" scout asks and emily looks at herself then made a confused face
'sure hope i wasn't, i wouldn't know my dads if i was a dream person' emily thought still looking confused as she looks at scout
'it's not something that i would think up if that's what you're thinking' pyro says as he felt everyone was looking at him which half of them was
"if pyro didn't think of it...then it must of been real" soldier says thinking about it and the others look at him looking shocked as he could be right
"of course i'm real, i can see myself" emily accidently says loudly then she covers her mouth forgetting she uses telepathy to talk
she looks down expecting the others to now look up at her but they didn't so emily sighs in relief realising they didn't hear her, she then looked confused on why she was relieved as this meant she felt like a ghost and that made this feel weird to her
"i don't want to be a ghost" she says accidently loudly again and she looks at her paws "good, i'm not a ghost" she says seeing she wasn't a ghost "den why can't dey hear me, i know i make my voice only hearable to certain peeps but that was really loud" she says thinking out loud as she puts her paw on her mouth
"hey, do you hear someone talkin'?" sniper asks the others and they shake their heads confused
"no, what are you hearing?" medic says confused then asks curiously
"a voice, it sounds like a girl's voice but they aren't any woman here...unless you count pyro but i don't know" sniper explains as he looks at medic and emily gets confused
"hmm...*gasp*" emily says then gets an idea on wanting to see if sniper could hear her
she then starts singing and the song she sang was the tinkerbell song, fly to your heart song she remembers as she had been singing it lately to check if sniper could hear her, she does get a little carried away but she kept checking to see if sniper could hear her and after a few line, he could as he was looking around confused but then it was getting to the others too as they started looking around till soon all of them could hear her
"you're right, sniper, i am hearing a girl's voice and i think she's singing" scout says as he looks around confused as well as everyone else
emily then stopped singing as the song ended and it wasn't till a few seconds after singing when her baby starts kicking her then pyro spots her as he points up to the her
'look! up there!' pyro says pointing to emily
the others look up and when emily sees they were looking at her while trying to ignore the baby kicking, she gave a wave and tried to smile but the baby's kicks make her drop it quick as she was trying to hide the pain
"hewwo! took you all-...long enough to spot me! i-...was here da whole time-...after you all woke up" emily says pausing mid sentence to not react to the baby kicking her
"who are you?" heavy asks speaking up after not speaking in a long while
"i'm emily! i was abducted from me bed 39 years in da future of 2008 for some reason and i tink it was dat marionette ting dat did it" emily explains as she hovers down to the others where she ended up flying in the middle of the circle
"39 years into the future?! how the hell did you get here?" scout asks and emily was about to answer but was cut off by soldier
"who is the president of the US?!" soldier says really wanting to know but he accidently shouted it
"um...i tink it's a guy named george bush but i don't really know as i heard my dad mention it and i don't really pay attention to dat kinda stuff" emily says looking a bit worried as soldier was kinda intimidating her
soldier then stands back and his face looked a mix of confused and shock as he didn't know what to think, he hadn't really heard of this 'george bush' person before but after thinking about it, he believed that this george bush person was actually a bush named george so he got annoyed, engineer then grabs his hand snapping him out if his thought and he looks at engineer holding his hand then at engineer who smirks at him before looking back at emily
"anyway, emily, can you tell us how you got here?" engineer says and emily smiles at him before looking serious yet worried
"well as i said earlier, i was asleep in me bed and den suddenly, i got woken up by dis green portal appearing above me, i was sucking into it before i could react to try and get away from it and den i was dropped off in that building over dere with the strange looking store dat says upgrade on da top" emily explains with paw movement and she points to the right building at the back
"green portal, huh, merasmus did make a green portal appear in the sky during halloween but again, merasmus doesn't appear until october" medic says as he was thinking and engineer nods agreeing with him
"this is really freakin' strange and confusing, man, first we were sent here to stop some robots that never came, then we all have a weird dream with this strange lookin' marionette that looks like heavy but with a distorted face and now this cat appears telling us she came from the future for some reason, this is all very weird" scout complains and the other hum agreeing with him
emily looks around at everyone seeing that they all looked a mix of confused, worried and a little stressed, she then did wonder why she was sent here, was it to stop that marionette as it felt like that was the obvious answer or was for a different reason that she hadn't figured out yet
"hey lass?" demoman says making emily look over at him "you are a great singer" he adds and emily smiles at him
"thank you, demo, it does help i'm a actress with actor parents, after all" emily says happily and demo smiles and nods at her
"wait! you're an actress?!" scout says surprised and emily smiles and nods at scout
emily then tells scout her acting history and as she does, sniper was looking at her as he was confused by her, he knows he's never seen a animal like her before and he was confused by her, he then focuses on her stomach area and he then lights up seeing a bump appear on the right side of her stomach and then disappears again
"hey uh, emily" sniper says and emily turns to him after she done talking to scout "are you by any chance-?!" he asks but then he was cut off by the music of the marionette
"it's back! we need to get out of here!" spy says recognising the music and the other agree with spy as they start running
emily follows and when she looks behind her, she sees the marionette slowly hovering behind her a few feet away which makes her freak out a little, the mercenaries and emily then get into a big truck that was disguised as a bread van and as engineer was driving with soldier in the passages seat, he speeds off like he was in a actin movie leaving the marionette in the dust, the bread van soon was in the road and it was out of coal town and hopefully far away from the marionette monster, in the back and everyone who were sitting in chairs looking they were taken from a bus were relieved to get away from the marionette
"whew, that was a close one" scout says relieved to be safe as he wipes the invisible sweat off his forehead
"yeah, that was close one, hopefully we are away from marionette monster now" heavy says also relieved and the other nod agreeing with him
"so, as we are in tar for bit, why don't you all tell me about yourselves" emily says as she sits by the door and the others nod happily
the mercenaries all introduced themselves to emily with scout obviously going first, pyro who emily could surprisenly understand but she thinks it's because she can also understand sweep from sooty, then heavy introduced himself followed by demoman, sniper went next, then medic, then engineer followed by soldier and last was spy who wanted tinkering his brief which made emily confused but she was also thinking on the fact that her theory was right in that soldier and engineer were dating as well as sniper and medic, she knows from them that engineer and soldier have been dating for over 2 and a half years while sniper and medic have been dating for 3 years
"so, what is it like in the future, is there flying cars and cool gadgets!" scout asks emily who shakes her head making scout look disappointed
"dere is some tings different, like example computers are more popular and dere is dis thing called da internet where on it, it has dese websites called social media where you can hang out and talk to friendly strangers! the ones i can remember is...there a video website called youtube where you can upload stuff onto it like music with lyrics, cute pets, review and other stuff, another one is facebook where you can find and befriend your school friends, another one is called twitter where it the same concept as facebook but different idea and...umm, that's all i can think off for the social media websites" emily explains with everyone listening to her "another thing day has become popular is video games as now you can play then at home as before, you had to go to a arcade to play them" she adds and scout lights up hearing the news
"that's sound so cool! i want to stay at home and play games all day!" scout says excited and emily giggles at his excitement
"umm, so, changing subject quick and you said to scout that you were an actress, how?" spy says wanting to change the subject which scout didn't like by it stayed quiet as he was curious
"i just am, i started acting in 2004 at the hooman age of 6 to 7 for a icelandic kids show called 'lazytown' which just finished recently and now i'm halfway on doing my 3rd year recording a british sci-if show called 'doctor who' as a companion, i also remembered that it started in 1963 so around dis time...it would be da 2nd doctor on da TV" emily explains and everyone nods with some humming as they nod
"...so you born in 1997?" heavy says and emily nods seriously
"yeah, i was a teen pregnancy child to my dads who were 17 and 15 when i was born so-" emily says starting to explain but was cut off by medic
"dads? you have 2 dads?" medic says and emily smiles with her tongue sticking out as she nods happily
"yep and i'm coping surprising really well without a mum in my life, it tink it helps dat dad is very motherly like a mum" emily says happily then goes to think out loud
emily then looks up not hearing the others and sees they all looked like deers in headlights as they stared at her making her confused and a little uncomfortable
"umm...are you alright? is dat marionette back?" emily says as she look around worried then she realises what was going on "oh! i-don't worry, i was born a hooman girl, i just mostly in dis cat but i can turn into a hooman, look" she explains then she pulls out a ring from her backpack
she puts it on and then she transforms into a tween girl about 10, she shows herself off and then she turns back into her original form again
"see!" emily says happily after she turns back to her original form again
the others nod now feeling relieved that theit original thought was pushed aside thinking that emily's dad gave birth to a cat
"so, what were you all doing outside at nighttime at that abandoned town? i know from a book i read dat you were dere to stop some robots made by a guy called gray mann but, don't you usually do it in da day time?" emily says as she points to where they came from as the truck kept moving
"we were sent there by our bosses' right hand assistant to stop the robots, mate, but they never came so we fell asleep" sniper explains and emily looked confused
"hmm...very strange" emily says as she thought as she looked confused
emily and the mercs keeps talking about each other and she was starting to warm up to the 8 men and the masked guy, pyro who was happily joining in when he got the chance, she got to know about scout being from boston, america, having 8 other brothers, having no father figure and he was a big sports fan, she got to know about pyro's love of fire and how it looked magical to him, she got to somehow know about demoman with him being scottish and how his mother wants to him to be a workaholic even though he's a alcoholic already, she got to know heavy being from the russian mountain, being really smart and having a mum and 3 sisters, she got to know both engineer and soldier with engineer being from a place called bee hive in texas, is the third generation to be in mann co with both his grandad and dad also being part of the company, is very texan and is like a mum figure to the other mercenaries, with soldier and he loves war and loves being part of a war, sadly isnt very smart but he very honest and have a cute goofy smile, soldier has also taken up to being the father figure the team as engineer was the mother, she gets to know both medic and sniper with medic being from germany and he was a licensed doctor but he had it revoked when he did some things, he is the healer of the team and he's a little insane but everyone was use to it, sniper is from australia and he had both a mum and dad from there in the middle of nowhere, he use to be a ranger for animal but then he decided to be a mercenary instead, he also knows a lot about animals as well as australia, lastly there was spy and all emily knew about him that he liked smoking, he's from france and he had been a mercenary for longer then the others.
emily then told them about the rest of herself until they reach the base and everyone gets out looking around as they do so
"i hope that marionette didn't follow us here, that thing was really creepy" scout says to the others as he looks around scared
"don't worry, it shouldn't have as there is no way for it to travel all the way from coal town to here, it's a few hour drive" sniper says comforting scout the best way he could "now come on, we need to go to the meeting room to talk about what happened" he adds as he hurries scout to follow
scout rolls his eyes and he follows the others into the base, emily follows them too and she follows them to the meeting room which was a room with a big table in the middle with 9 seats around it, spy goes in the main chair which was a big computer chair that also had a whiteboard behind him, it then went engineer, soldier, medic, sniper, scout, pyro, demoman and then heavy before going to spy again, everyone was at their seats and emily was sitting on the table between medic and sniper
"right then gentlemen...and cat, we seem to have a supernatural problem on our hands and we need to figure out why it's here!" spy says and he looked very serious
"and we need to figure out why i'm here too!" emily adds trying to look serious but she giggles a little thinking on how funny she sounds when she's serious
"you're probably here to help us figure out how to stop that marionette thing" scout says shrugging and emily nods agreeing with him
"the question is that, if merasmus didn't make it, then who did?" engineer says and the other went into thinking about it
"umm...you keep mentioning dis masmus but i don't know who he is" emily says as she puts her paw up like she was in class looking confused
"merasmus is my ex-roommate who is also a magician slash wizard, i kinda got into his bad books when we were living together so now on every halloween, he gives us a visit to either make us make his theme park a burial ground or help him get money that he borrowed from the mafia" soldier explains both happily yet seriously and emily hums as she thinks
"...he sounds like he's gone on da wrong path somewhere with his magic, he could do much with his magic if you say he's a magical wizard" emily explains as she thought and the others hum agreeing with her
"anyway, let's get back on topic of the meeting, we need to figure out what this marionette thing is that looks like heavy but with a distorted face" scout says seriously and the others look at him surprised as he is never the serious one
"we also need to figure out what its weakness is so we can stop it" emily says calmly as she was thinking with her paw on her mouth "i wonder if dere a book about it somewhere" she adds as she knows books are good at explaining things
"...oh! there should be a book on magic in the library, i can take you there so we can look though the book!" medic says remembering and sniper holds up his hand
"i'll take her to get the book, i know where it is anyway" sniper says as he gets up from his seat looking bored
"thanks sniper" medic says smiling at him and he smirks back gaining a little blush on his face
"come on. emily" sniper says and emily follows him after nodding happily
she follows sniper out the room while everyone else watches them leave and they then talk amongst themselves about other topics, as sniper and emily walked down the hallway, emily looks sound seeing rooms around while sniper looked bored but wanting to ask emily something, they soon make it to the library and emily was amazed on how many books there were as they was a lot but she could imagine the TARDIS library being bigger then this, she was then about to fly off when she was lightly grabbed by the tail by sniper
"wat?" emily asks confused as she turns it sniper after she felt her tail being held onto
"emily, tell me seriously...are you pregnant?" sniper says in a calm tone and emily looked confused
"...what if i am, what are you going to do about it?" emily says as she looked annoyed tucking her paws into herself which was her way of crossing her arms
"i don't want any trouble, i just want to know" sniper says looking calm and emily huff sighs as she looked guilty for getting annoyed at sniper when he was just asking
"...yes, i am and you can tell the other if you want, i don't care if dey know as long dey don't treat me like a fragile and valuable vase, i can take care of meself even if i am due this time next week on valentine's day, also it's my cat form dat's pregnant and not my human form, got it?" emily explains calmly yet seriously and sniper nods a little understanding "good, anyway, let's go and find dat book" she adds and sniper smiles at her before he head ahead of emily
emily follows him and they end up in one of the many isles with the word 'magic' written between the isles on a sigh, sniper looks though the books until he finds the book he was looking for and the book was called 'mythical beings, magical creatures and creepy monsters', sniper and emily go over to a table with some chairs and sniper puts the book down in front of emily which she smiles
"dis is a big book, it's probably going to take me forever to find what that marionette thing is" emily says seeing how thick the book was which was pretty thick
"don't worry, we got time so take your time" sniper says shrugging and emily smiles at him
she then opens the book and she starts looking though the book mainly at the pictures, sniper was opposite her having his head on his fish as he leans on the table and he was looking at the book as emily was looking though it, after many page turns emily soon found the page she was looking for and she lights up when she finds it
"found it!" emily says as she paps the page with her paw happily "it says here dat da marionette ting is called 'the overminder' which is a strange being dat has been around since da 1600, it's very cystic and can take the shape of anyone it wants to but keeps it marionette look, when it close, it starts to play very creepy music and slowly float slides towards you until you are dead, it also effects your dreams giving you nightmares so it can announce its presents when you are asleep, it is uneffected by most weapons like guns but the only way to defeat the overminder is with-...umm" emily sats reading out the page but stops looking confused
"what is it?" sniper saus perking up wondering why emily had stopped reading
"da word is slightly smudged so i can't really make it out, i tink da first 4 ledders are r, o, c and k but the other ones are smudged out" emily explains as she points to the smudged word
"hmm, rock, so, is it rocks or something else?" sniper says thinking then asks and emily shrugs in reply
"i dunno, as i said, it has more ledders but it gets too smudged to read so we have to guess with the only bit i can make out is rock" emily says looking worried as she points to the word while looking at sniper who was emotionless
"hello! did you find anything!" soldier says walking into view of emily and sniper and emily smiles at him while sniper rolls his eyes
"yes, me and snipes find out dis marionette ting is called 'da overminder' and dere is a way to defeat it but it's hard to make out as the word is smudged, can you make it out, soldier-boy?" emily explains and she shows soldier the word in the book
soldier looks at the word carefully while emily and sniper looks at him and then soldier pulls back up looking confused
"no, as you said, it's too smudged" soldier says as he looks at emily
"yeah, the only word i could make out is rock but dere is more to da word that i can't make out" emily says sadly feeling a bit frustrated she can't read the word
"what does the rest of it say?" sniper asks seeing there was more writing on the page as soldier sits down at the chair in the middle of sniper and emily on the right side
"umm...it says here dat the discovery was found after some exploerer used it on the overminder having nothing else to use on it, da overminder den went down and da explorers got out of its home as quickly as possible to tell the tale, it was den thought the overminder was gone until people were suddenly dying and others claim the overminder was back again but dere no sign of it when people went to investigate its home so people theorised that it was now a roamer so every night, everyone must have a-...rock ting with dem so dey can destroy da overminder on sight" emily says reading the page and she looked up at sniper and soldier when she was done
"so whatever this rock thing is, we need it to defeat the overminder and then everything can go back to normal again!" soldier says happily and emily nods happily with a hum
sniper looks at soldier and he was having this feeling that the answer to the issue was staring him in the face but he wasn't sure why, he then looks over at emily and she was trying to look at the rest of the page but she was dropping off to sleep
"hey emily, why don't you have a little sleep for a while as me and soldier are going to go back to the others to tell them what we found" sniper says worried and emily tries to stare him down as she knew why he was saying this but she was too tired to fight
"alright but i'll be here if you need anythin', otay?" emily says calmly and sniper nods smirking
emily smiles at her sleepily and then she curls up to go to sleep, soldier smiles and he carefully puts his hand on emily's head to pet it, she purrs happily by the affection and keeps purring while soldier pets her, sniper them had to drag soldier away to let emily sleep and the pair head back to the meeting room with sniper holding the book with one of his bullets being a bookmark, when they got to the meeting room, the others looked at the pair as they sat down and sniper explains to the others what he and emily have found as he read from the book
"so, we are dealing with something supernatural? great and it's not even halloween" spy says getting annoyed by the supernatural being involved when it was february
"it also says in the book about how to defeat it but it smudged out with only the work 'rock' being the only word readable in one of the 2 times the word is mentioned" sniper says and he looks around to see everyone thinking
"rock? as in rocks that we throw at it" scouts says as he was thinking
"ot it could be talking about rockers" demoman says in his drunken state and everyone looks at him confused
'oh! maybe it's taking about rockstars!' pyro mumbles and everyone looks at him even more confused
"pyro, how are we goin' to get a rockstar all the way out here to stop this overminder?" scout asks pyro looking annoyed and pyro tried to think but couldn't come up with anything as he shrugs
as the other argued on what the word could be, soldier sat there thinking that the word felt so obvious to him but he didn't know why or what it was, he was then snapped out of his thoughts as he felt someone on his shoulder and he glances to see engineer leaning on him looked bored, engineer looks up at him with his sweet smile and soldier smiles back at him as he grabs engineer's hand into his hand, the argument was then cut off by spy
"hey! i want to ask something!" spy shouts annoyed and everyone looks at him shocked
"...well...what is it?" scout asks waiting impatiently looking at spy annoyed
"sniper, where is emily?" spy asks and sniper smirks as he uses his thumb to point at the door
"i left her in the library to sleep, she was tired out and i also have something to tell you all about her as she told me i can tell you" sniper says emotionless but still smirking and the others look at each other with curiosity
"what's that?" engineer asks as he stayed laying his head on soldier's shoulder
"well...she's pregnant" sniper says calmly yet emotionless and everyone stares at him like they were all deer in headlights
"what?!" they all shout at once and sniper nods while smirking
"yeah, she's pregnant and she told me to not to treat her in her words 'like a fragile and valuable vase', she also told me that it's more her cat form then her human form that is pregnant and she's due next week on valentine's day" sniper explains and the others looked stunned while staring at sniper
"hmm, i understand where she's coming from with the vase thing, she doesn't want to be pushed aside or left out all because she's pregnant, comparing it to like you've broken your leg and you see everyone you know all outside playing together while you are stuck inside watching them, you want to be with them but you can't due to them being concerned about you falling again or getting more hurt if you are if you did join them so their best option is to keep you away even if it's not what you want to do" medic explains and everyone nods understanding
"so, when she comes back after she wakes up, don't be like a royal guard to the princess to her...or in soldier's case, the security guard to the president to her, she won't like it" sniper says and others nod understanding
the others keep talking about the overminder until they couldn't think of anything else to talk about it so they changed the subject, meanwhile, emily was still fast asleep on the chair in the library now in her back exposing her baby belly with her arms tucked in and her legs also tucked in and as she was asleep, she had a dream, in the dream, she looks around seeing she was floating in space with the stars glowing around her and she wondered how she got here, suddenly she starts hearing it, the music of the overminder as her ears went up then drooped down as she got scared, she looks around while still looking scared and then she sees it, the overminder who was floating in front of her looking intimidating
"listen, overminder, i know what you are and what you do but why are you in my dream?!" emily says as she gets annoyed and she points to the overminder
it doesn't say anything and emily huffs annoyed as she looks angry
"also, why are you trying to get to dese peeps?! dey've done nothin' to ya and you are just bein' a creepy pasta" she adds still annoyed and she stares down the overminder "so, will you go away and please send me back home?!" she adds still staring down the overminder
"...i...i-d-did...no-not br-bring...you...h-here!" the overminder finally says sounding like multiple people's voice from a radio and it came as a surprise to emily
"oh, so you can talk! but wait, you didn't? den how did i get 'ere?!" emily says amused then confused after processing what the overminder said 'is dere another reason i'm 'ere and da overminder was just a unlucky coincidence' she thought as she gets worried yet confused
"...y-you...we-were br-brought her-here...by-by th-that wi-wizard...w-with the-the skull-ull...hat" the overminder says and emily looked confused
"...wait...you mean masmus, dat wizard dat is soldier-boy's ex roommate?" emily says figuring it out and the overminder does a him as a reply but it was more of a growl "but, dat doesn't make sense as he apparently doesn't appear until around halloween according to da others" she adds looking extremely confused with a head tilt
the overminder then started to approach emily making her start walking backward, she could tell the overminder was starting to get impatient with the waiting so she felt scared as she backs up, suddenly, she felt her baby kicking her a lot which causes her to wake up as the kicks were getting painful, she wakes up startled and then she looks around the room to see she was still in the library, she still felt her baby kicking so she rubs her baby bump to calm the baby down which it does and then she flies out of the library to go find the others but she didn't know that the overminder was in the library and it was now following her, when she gets into the meeting room, everyone looks at her as she tries to land in the table but she ends up sliding on it soon lightly bumping into spy on the other end of the table
"e!" emily says looking worried and the other look at her also getting worried
"what is it?!" scout asks looking more scared then the others
"da overminder, it was in me dreams and it told me dat it wasn't da reason i came 'ere, it was masmus!" emily says sounding stressed and the other gasp in shock
"that wizard maggot!" soldier says shaking his fist annoyed
"wait, the overminder talked to you?" spy says and emily nods as she turn to him
"reah! it sounded like a broken radio but it talked to me in me dreams" emily says worried and spy looked confused
"guys! look!" scout says as he sounded scared and he points to the door emily came from
the others look and there floating at the door was the overminder, the mercenaries freak out as they back up and emily snarls and growls at it even thought she was scared
"take this you wooden puppet!" scout says and he throws a empty can of bonk at the overminder
the can bounces off the overminder and then it ends up hitting soldier's rocket launcher he left in the table, the rocket inside the launcher goes off after the can hits the launcher and the rocket hits the overminder which didn't look like it reacted to it but emily could see it was damaged badly by the explosion of the rocket
'rockets...dat's it! rockets! dat da word dat was smudged out!' emily thought lighting up as she had the idea and she runs over to the rocket launcher "soldier-boy!" she calls out to soldier as she remembers who the rocket launcher belongs too
both engineer and soldier look over at emily and emily holds up the launcher by holding it in the middle
"you need dis! it's weak to rocket explosions!" emily shouts out to soldier and she tosses the rocket launcher to soldier who catches it with one hand
soldier looked surprised then he gains a smug as he loads up his launcher, engineer also set up his sentry to level 3 and then tosses the wrangler to emily
"point it at the overminder and hit the trigger on the handle to fire the rockets, i'll keep refilling the ammo" engineer explains as the dot appears on the overminder "everyone else, step away!" he adds and the others nod as they go to the other side of the room
soldier then starts firing rockets and emily fires the rockets from the wrangler while engineer keeps banging on the sentry to keep the sentry's ammo at full as well as its health, the overminder was critically effected by the rockets and it was one of soldier's crockets that finished off the overminder as it cries in pain and then it disappears, when it was gone, the others cheered happily seeing it was gone and they praise emily for figuring it out, emily backs off being overwhelmed but then she smiles happily seeing how happy the others were, she then looks over at soldier and engineer who looked tired out
"good job, soldier-boy" engineer says smiling at soldier as he puts his right gloves hand on soldier's shoulder
soldier smiles at engineer and the pair have a hug to mainly recover from what happened but there was some love in the hug too, a while later and the mercenaries and emily were still in the meeting room and they were back in their usual seats
"so, we now know masmus is da one who brought me 'ere but i still know why" emily says after everyone was sat down
"we can go ask him if you want, i know where he lives" soldier says happily and emily looks at him confused
"why do you know where he lives? aren't ex-roommates suppose to leave each other alone after dey aren't roommates anymore?" emily says confused as she thought about it and soldier just smiles at her with his goofy grin
"yeah but i'm nosy" soldier says simply and emily giggles at his reply
"oh, soldier-boy, you-*giggles*" emily says still giggling and she couldn't really explain to him why it was funny
"anyway, we need to go see the wizard and see if he can get emily back to her time" spy says and emily nods when she calms down
"reah, even though i'm havin' fun with you lot, i do miss me dads and i have to go back to do some more recording for doctor who or me friend will miss me" emily explains happily and then she felt guilty as she remembers tom, sebastian and david
"we also need to figure out why those robots aren't appearing where miss.pauling sent us to go, i wonder if that has something to do with merasmus too?" engineer says and the others went to think
"i'm still confused on why merasmus is doing all this stuff when it's been almost 4 months since last halloween and 8 months till this year's halloween" sniper adds and the others nod agreeing with him feeling more confused
"whom dis?" emily says confused breaking everyone's thought as she points to a stained white dove next to her
"archimedes! what are you doing out of bed? its not breakfast time yet" medic says looking at the dove now named archimedes like a annoyed parent
"...he says dat he wanted to check why you haven't gone bedtime yet" emily says looking at medic and archimedes nods confirming that's what he said
"oh! sorry archimedes, we're busy doing something but we will come to bed soon" medic says as he grooms archimedes with his thumb and index fingers
"...he says otay, he go and tell da others" emily says translating archimedes and the dove flies off going back to medic's infermary "so anyway, how do we get to masmus?" she asks getting back on track
"wait, you can talk to animals?" scout says surprised and emily nods while shrugging
"well, duh! of course i can! if you were a talkin' animal, you'll be able to understand other animals too" emily says and the other hum agreeing with her
"well, anyway, since soldier knows where merasmus lives, me and soldier will take emily to him" engineer says getting back on track and the other nod agreeing
"uh, me and sniper will go too, i want to see how merasmus does what he does" medic says looking excited and sniper rolls his eyes but looked amused
"then it's settled, engineer, soldier, medic and sniper will take emily to merasmus while me, scout, pyro, heavy and demoman will stay here to wait for you all to get back" spy says seriously and the others nod happily
the meeting then ended and scout, pyro, spy, heavy and demoman stayed in the meeting room while sniper, medic, soldier, engineer and emily went to the truck, when they get to the truck, they all get in and sniper was driving with medic in the passages seat and emily, soldier and engineer in the back seat, the group them set off and soldier gave directions to sniper as he drove to merasmus' place, after some driving, the group finally made it to the location on where merasmus was and when they got there, emily noticed something
"hey, have you guys notice dat it's still dark when it's coming up to 7am" emily says as she looks up at the sky
"...yeah, that's really odd" sniper says as he also looks at the sky with medic next to him
"i wonder if merasmus has something to do with this too" engineer says looking at the sky then at soldier who was walking to the door
the others joined soldier at the door and soldier knocks on the door, he crosses his arms after knocking on the door and the others looked confused on while they waited
"is he usually this late or-" emily says as she glances over at soldier wondering where merasmus was but then she gets cut off as the doors open
suddenly a hand comes out the doors after they open and it grabs emily before the others could react, the doors then close and the mercenaries gasp seeing the hand took emily
"dat hand took emily!" sniper says worried and the others get worried too
"we need to save her from merasmus before he turns into something terrible!" soldier says seriously but he was low key worried
"...the door won't budge!" engineer says as both him and medic try to get the door open but they couldn't as it was heavy
"hmm...i know!" medic says as he backs up and looks around then he gets an idea "soldier, you use your rocket jumper and i'll use my quick fix, i need you to jump to that open window up there" he explains to soldier then he points up to a wide open window at the top of the house
"okay, doc!" soldier says and he goes off to the truck
he grabs his rocket jumper while medic gets his quick fix and they were ready to jump after soldier grabs engineer and holds him like how engineer holds onto his tool box while sniper was riding piggyback on medic, meanwhile inside and emily was struggling to get out of a wooden mechanical hand while merasmus was walking around the room
"let me go!" emily says annoyed as she struggles to get out
"no, i need you for my experiment!" merasmus says as he starts pouring mixtures into a couldren
"what experiment is that?" emily asks as she gets an idea seeing the metal part of the wooden hand
"a dimension jumping spell, you see, you aren't just from a different time but a different dimension as well and of i can master this dimensional jump, i can save myself from when the world ends in a few years time" merasmus explains while emily used her electricity to get herself out the hand which worked as she was now standing ontop of the hand
"dat sounds great and all but it's also a little selfish, i mean, all by yourself, what about other peeps" emily says as she stands above the wooden hand
"if you are talking about those mercenaries, you can forget about it, they are nothing but trouble especially that soldier" merasmus says annoyed and emily looked confused
"why? didn't they help you in da past with issues with da mafia? and i know soldier-boy isn't da smartest guy in da world due to him having lead poisoning but he has a heart of gold with even engie loving him as much as he does" emily explains as she quietly flies off the hand onto some boxes remembering what the book said about the mercenaries
"...you...are the first proper smart person i've ever met in a long time and you are also very pacifist, you somehow see the good in people even if they've done bad things" merasmus says as he was thinking about it and emily nods happily
"reah, i mean i do know dat dose mercenaries have killed a lot of peeps in da past but dey also have personalities and love lives so dey aren't strictly killing machines, dey have emotions, personalities and differences to make dem who dey are, i know you have something too as you looked to be a great wizard and know a lot about making spells, so, why do you hate soldier-boy so much, what did he do to you to make you kick him out?" emily explains as she sits on the box while having her paw on her baby belly as the baby was kicking again
"well...he stole my things without my permission and we always argued about anything so i just had enough and kicked him out, he then turned my home into a raccoon sanctuary so now i live here in this abandoned home" merasmus explains and emily hums while nodding "...hey wait, what am i doing?! i need to get back to this!" he says snapping out of his thought and went back to his spell
"what do you need from me, anyway?" emily asks as she looks at herself then at merasmus
"i need your fur or feathers" merasmus says as he pours another thing into the couldren
"well, sorry to disappoint you but neither my fur or feathers cannot come off, i don't moult like a usual cat, bird or hooman but i can give you dis!" emily says sadly but then she holds up a red feather "it's a feather from my bag i keep on dere for decoration but it should have da same tings on what you want" she adds happily and merasmus finally looks over at her
"how did you get out?!" merasmus says as he goes over to her and takes the feather off her
"i have me way" emily says with a smug smile and merasmus wanted to be mad but he was more impressed
"merasmus!" the voice of soldier says and the doors suddenly flies open to reveal soldier, engineer, medic and sniper "give back emily or ill-..." he says annoyed and then he sees emily sitting on the boxes
"hi, i got myself out, anyway, go back to your ting and can you please give me something so i can get back home, me dads and me friend are going to miss me if dey figure out dat i'm gone" emily says happily then she looks over at merasmus
"oh yes...umm...here! this should do the trick" merasmus says as he looks on his shelves and then he gives emily a stick "this wand should cause a portal to appear and it should take you back home" he adds happily and emily smiles at him
"tank you" emily says taking the wand off merasmus and then looks at the others "well, shall we head back to da base, da others are wondering where we are" she says to the mercenaries and the other nod and smile
"hey guy! i'm a bomb book!" a book with a bomb in its mouth says happily and emily looks at the book confused
"umm...dat book talked" emily says pointing to the book while looking at merasmus
"bombinomicon! go away!" merasmus says shooing the bomb book now named the bombinomicon away
the bombinomicon does go away and the mercs with emily leave the home going back to the van, when the mercenaries and emily get back to the base, they see the other mercenaries talking to a lady in a purple dress
"oh, miss.pauling, we weren't expecting you here" engineer says happily seeing the young girl in purple now named miss.pauling
"i came after spy told me what happened...and he told me about her as well, he said she came from the future" miss.pauling says and emily nod but looked unsure
"actually, i have come from da future from another dimension according to masmus" emily says and the mercenaries and miss.pauling look at her shocked "he told me dat he was trying to make a spell so dat he could jump dimensions but he didn't tell me why" she adds hiding the fact she did know why but she didn't want to cause the mercenaries to have a panic attack that they world was going to end soon due to a event
"well, that's merasmus for you, anyway, what is it that you want, miss.pauling?" soldier says happily and he with everyone else look at miss.pauling
"well, i came to talk to emily actually before she went back home, so, can you come with me for a moment, emily?" miss.pauling says and emily looked at miss.pauling confused with her right paw on her mouth
"umm, otay?" emily says confused and she follows miss.pauling
the pair end up leaving the base after emily says her goodbyes to everyone and she heads off with miss.pauling to what looks to be a secret lair, emily was quiet as she looked around being behind miss.pauling and the pair ended up in a little room with just a computer chair, some computers and a lady sitting on the chair
"umm, administrator, i brought the flying cat" miss.pauling says nervously and the lady in the chair swirls around on her chair
the lady was wearing purple like miss.pauling and she had black hair with a white spiky blob on the front, she looked to be in her 50s and she was smoking like a chimney
"so...you are the cat that i've been seeing with my mercenaries on my cameras...you look very...unquie" the administrator says looking at emily studying her and emily looked scared as she notice miss.paulimg leaves the room
"umm...tanks?" emily says nervously with a worried smile
"i also heard you are from from the future in a alternate dimension which could be useful for me" the adminatrator says looking smug and emily looked confused but still worried "you see, we are running out on a valuable resource and this...is one of the few that is left that i can have, it's called austrailium and i want you to look after it for me" she explains and she holds out a very bright gold bar
"umm...otay but why?" emily says calmly yet confused as she takes the bar from the adminatrator and hugs it close to her
"you probably heard from that wizard that this world is going to end in a few years and i need to scares out the austrailium so gray mann doesn't get it, if you take one back to your dimension, i know where to go when the time comes" the adminatrator explains and emily nods thinking about it
"i get it but, how are you going to get to me? you probably need to ask masmus for the dimension jumping spell he's making and he won't just give it to you as he doesn't really know you, he knows soldier-boy so you could probably ask him to get it but masmus doesn't really want to talk to him anymore" emily explains as she think about it
"i'll figure it out when the time come, now you better get going, i have other things to attention to...it was nice meeting you" the adminatrator says and says again when emily was about to leave
"it was uh, nice meet you too, lady, bye!" emily says nervously and she uses her wand to go back home, when she gets back she sees that it was still nighttime and it looked like she wasn't gone long, she then looks at the bar of austrailium that the adminatrator gave her and it looked similar to a gold bar but it was brighter, had a little picture of a kangaroo boxing a man and it felt lighter, emily then smiles a little as the bar reminded her of the mercenaries and she puts it in her backpack before she goes to sleep as her baby was kicking her that it was sleepy time.
