Blue, black, gray, red and white surround me. We're lucky to be in The city. The war was said to be terrible and we were what was left of it. Our founders built the wall to keep us safe. To keep what was out there from getting in and they divided us into five groups. Factions as we call them to keep the peace. Each faction had a purpose, a job to contribute to society. The smart one, the ones in blue. Those that value knowledge and logic were in Erudite. They know everything. Honestly I think there is little they don't know. Amity farm the land. Always wearing smiles, laughing wearing bright colors. Where a lot of people of my faction thought I would end up. That all changed a few years ago. They're all about kindness and harmony. I have never heard of fights breaking out in the farm lands. My faction, Candor, value honesty and order that is why we wear white. A color of purity. We tell the truth. Always the truth and only the truth even when others wish we wouldn't. That is why we are in charge of jurisdiction, sentencing and such. Then there's Dauntless. They're our protectors, our soldiers. Our police. This is where my brother is likey to end up. He was never good at telling the truth. Always getting in trouble even as we were kids. Everyone thought Dauntless was a little crazy, scaling building but I guess you have to be to do the protecting. Finally, Abnegation, those in grey. We all call them "stiffs." they live bland lifes, selfless lives, simple life. Always helping others. Even the factionless, but because they are the public servants they are trusted to run the government. We figure since they are there to do what is best for others they would be best to make the decisions for us all. Everyone has a palace in society. A place they belong. Myself I am still figuring it out.

"Sky, are you coming, or are you going to be stargazing all day?"

I turn my attention to Peter. He has his normal smirk on his face. His brown hair curled and falling lightly over his forehead. His brown eyes were wrinkled in the corners as his smirk changed to a smile. He approached my frozen figure in the middle of the swarming colors. He put his hands on my shoulders.

"You ok?"

I shrugged forcing a smile on my lips. My long mud brown hair was blowing in my face. I had a strand inbetween my fingers threading it between them to calm my nerves. Peter rolled his eyes.

"You will be fine. No need to be nervous."

I glared up at him.

"I am not nervous!"

He rose a brow at my out burts and looked down at my fiddling fingers. I dropped the strand letting it blow behind me.

"Ok. I am nervous."

He laughed throwing his arm around my shoulder forcing me to move forward.

"You will be fine. Today is only the information meeting. Find out a bit more about the factions, testing. There is nothing to worry about."

"Easy for you to say, you know where you belong. No one knows where I belong."

Peter scuffed.

"Yeah right, Amity. Miss giggles, always optimistic."

I shoved my brother away.

"You know that has changed! I haven't been tested since I was 14, I could have changed again."

A few weird looks were shot my way and Peter noticed just like I did. He turned to me, looking down at my shorter figure.

"Sky, you know we arn't aloud to talk about that. You know that more than anyone. Let's just go to the meeting. Take a deep breath. EVerything will be figured out tomorrow. There is no point in worrying about it now. You will find out. Sides you have the least amount to worry about as you already know you arn't...Divergent."

He lowered his voice when he said the name of someone that fits into multiple categories. Erudite thinks they exist but most think they are a myth. My brother grabbed my hand and started moving me forward again to the large circular building where information will be provided. The room was dark a large circle stage in the middle where Jeanine stood waiting for us all to file in. Peter looked back at me as we found our places with others wearing white waiting for the women to speak.

"One hundred years ago, after the war, our founders created a system they believed would prevent future conflict and created lasting peace. Tomorrow, aptitude testing based on your personality will assign you to one of the factions. While it is our belief that choosing the faction indicated by your test is the best way to ensure success within the faction system, it is your right at the choosing ceremony to choose any of the five factions, regardless of your test results. However, once the choice has been made, there will be no change permitted."

I looked at my brother who grabbed my hand giving it a comforting squeeze.

"After the choosing ceremony you will officially be part of our system. For the test to go correctly, make sure to eat a breakfast to prevent sickness and get plenty of sleep. Until then. Go, home, do not speak of the test then regather in the square where each sign for your faction ar carved into the outside of the building and line up accordingly. Someone will be inside to give you your test. Go in peace."

We all shuffled to our feet. I look at my brother who was just focused on getting out of the building. I reached linking our hands so I wouldn't loose him in the crowds as the other teens rushed out of the crowded space.
