I woke staring at my ceiling. The white tiles looked back at me. A body flopped next to me startling me. I turned to my brother who was already fully dressed for the day. Brown hair combed back.
"It is time to get up, Sky. Today is the day."
I let out a groan.
"Can we just put the test off for another day."
Peter laughed at me. He stood up and yanked the blankets off. Goose bumps erupted along my arms.
"Breakfast is on the table, oh and Christina is here."
I smiled at my friends name. I got to my feet. Letting them hit the white tile. I pushed Peter out of my room.
"Rude!"
I laughed at his shout. I turned to my wardrobe. I hated our color choice. White, white or white. Always white. Everything was white. From the walls, to the floors. Even my bed was white. A color of purity. I grabbed a white blouse and black pants. We were aloud to wear black as that was another pure color but white was our primary color and was expected to be warn. I tuked the blouse in my pants looking myself in the mirror as I slid my feet into my white slides. My hair was noted and in loose waves. Unlike my brothers perfect dark brown hair and deep brown eyes my heair was mud brown waves with no clue on what it wanted to do on the day to day. I took my brush through the locks as they feel to my mid back. I took my white clip pinning half of it up, half of it down. My teal eyes peered back at me. Just like my fathers. A piercing teal. An emotion hid behind them but I wasn't even sure what it was. I let out a deep breath I was holding and closed my wardrob door. I walked out, down the hall to the white kitchen. The kitchen was attached to the living room and had a perfect view of the main door. White tile lined the floors just like in my room. The dining room table was the only thing separating the two rooms. My brother and best friend sat eating waffles while my mom stood at the stove making more. She smiled over at me.
"About time you got up. I thought you were going to sleep through testing."
I smiled at my mother.
"How could I when my twin brother is here to jump me awake."
She laughed and moved two more waffles onto a plate before holding them out with a glass of white milk. I smiled at her taking the two items.
"Thank you."
She met my smile with her own.
"There are some strawberries in the fridge for you."
My smile grew. I love strawberries. Everyone knew I did. I loved the pure goodness in them. No artificial flavors. No extra sugar added or needed. I set my plate and glass on the table across from my brother, next to Tia before going to the fridge. I pulled out the bowl of fruit before going back to the table. I took a seat with a smile on my face.
"OOooo can I have one?"
I smiled at Tia before putting a few on her plate.
"What about me?"
I glared at Peter.
"After how you woke me up. No way."
He smiled at me before taking one from the bowl anyways.
"Hey!"
He shrugged at me as he put it in his mouth taking a bite out of the berry. I turned my attention back to my food and started eating.
"You know, Sky, for how outgoing you are in the morning you seem pretty quite this morning."
I took another bite of my waffle.
"I couldn't sleep."
Peter rose a brow. Exchanging a look with Tia.
"You love sleep though."
I shrugged pushing around the left over syrup on my plate.
"I am nervous. I can't believe you two arn't."
Peter rolled his eyes, leaning back exasperated.
"Sky, we went over this yesterday. There is no need to be nervous. We all know you are going to Amity."
I glared at Peter.
"No I am not. You know that. I know that."
Tia rolled her eyes.
"Sky, you and Peter are two peas in a pod. You will probably end up wherever he ends up."
Peter gave my friend a tired expression.
"Tia you know it isn't nice to lie to her. We are opposite. She is the good kid, I am the rebel."
"That may be tru but she keeps you in line and can give you a run for your money when it comes to fighting."
"That is enough!"
We all turned to my mother who was at the sink cleaning dishes.
"The test is not something to discuss and you three will be late if you continue bickering. Now clean up, and get going."
"Yes Mom."
We all responded even though my mom was not Tia's mom but she was like her mom with how much she is over here. I took a few berries, eating them quickly before giving the bowl to my mother along with my plate and glass. I was the first out the apartment door going down the white stairs to the main lobby.
"Sky! Wait!"
I turned to my brother.
"Why should I?"
He caught up with me anyways.
"Where is Tia?"
Peter rolled his eyes.
"She had to run back to her apartment first. Didn't bring her shoes with her."
I laughed lightly.
"Of course she did. You do know you two will end up in the same faction."
Peter put his arm around me as we made it down the white stairs.
"So will we. Tia, is right, we are two peas in a pod, sides you are a fighter. Dad even said."
I gulped remembering the fighting lessons with our father. After some of the incidents we had, my father taught my brother and I to fight so we could defend ourselves. Our lessons went up until last year, when he passed away due to unknown causes. I mean our family knows but we are not suppose to speak about it. The way he went was "shameful" so we were told not to bring it up and none of the others did either. For all others know, he died due to an illness that he has been fighting with for years. Peter squeezed my shoulders bringing me out of my thoughts.
"It is going to be just alright, Sky. You will see. Like I said, you are one of the few people that really doesn't need to worry about these tests."
I smiled up at my brother knowing he was right.
