I sit in the classroom, hunched over ina white chair looking down at the tabled on my desk. I read the 1st question before starting to write fiercely as the answer was one I studied over and over again.
"Skylar, can you come with me for a moment."
I look up shocked to hear a voice break through the silent room. The reacher stood at the door looking at me expectantly. I nod my head, getting up to follow her out of the room and around the corner to the private room. This was were a lot of kids go when they have a hard time focusing to limit the distractions they may face. She opened the door where my friend Kyle was sat hunched over his tablet, stress taking over his body. He was running his hands through his hair repeatedly and his leg was jumping as he ready the question in front of him. He was clearly frustrated by the questions. I looked at out teacher waiting to find out why I was here. It was test day and I wasn't one of the students that needed an isolated location.
"Kyle is struggling with the questions for Science, I was hopin gyou could help him for a bit?"
I smiled at Kyle looks up at me mouthing please.
"Of course."
She nodded allowing me to take the seat across from one of my best friends. A clear smile was on our faces as she closed the door. I grabbed his tables looking over the first question. I smiled before redirecting my attention to my friend, sliding the tablet back towards him.
"This question is on motion. Do you remember the saying we were taught? An objecting in motion says in..."
"...motion, an object at rest, stays at rest."
I smile nodding at the boy while he scribbled down the saying. He restudied the question before writing more to go with the question. He sighed through his nose before looking up at me.
"How are you so good at this?"
I shrug unsure why I find stuff like this easy. I remember being younger struggling with most subjects but once things started to click, it just became easy.
"I just find it easy."
He narrowed his eyes at me.
"You sure you are not Divergent. I read about them. Also, people are saying that illuminating Divergents would be for the greater good of society."
I laugh a bit shaking my head.
"Yes I am sure I am not Divergent. I got to Erudite for treatment remember? They test me to make sure I am not a threat. So even though my personality may change a bit, i am not Divergent."
He furrowed his brows.
"How can you be sure. If you are changing, and shifting, hos is that not Divergence?"
I sigh pinching the bridge of my nose really not liking to talk about the treatments I had to go through.
"To be Divergent, I would have to hold two personality types at the same time, meaning my tests would come back inconclusive which has yet to happen. I get results meaning I am not Divergent. Can we get back to the questions?"
The boy nodded sliding the tablet towards me. I nodded as I read through the information.
"This one is on Conves and Concave lenses. Draw them out on the tables like we did in the diagrams in class. Then compare them, to answer the questions about how they bend light."
I slid the tablet over to the boy. He drew the lenses, humming in understanding before writing his thoughts for the question. He looked up at me.
