Location; Chicago IL

The two friends exit out of the cinema and lock arms, walking down the damp pavement of Chicago with the sounds of jazz music playing in the distance, bringing life to the city that never seemed to get any sleep.

Everywhere you looked people were gathered, dressed in their best attire living carefree as the night life consumed them all. Some spiflicated from one too many drinks, stumbling within the streets while others danced the night away in a nearby speakeasy.

Nara and Gretchen on the other hand were out on this lovely Friday night catching a movie before heading down a few blocks to a nearby diner since Nara was in need of a slice of red velvet cake. "Does your father know you're out this late?" Nara looks over her shoulder at Gretchen who was fixing the gold cloche on her dark, pinned up tresses.

"He doesn't have to know everything now, does he?" Nara places her free hand to her lips and tries to hide her smile only for it appear along her face followed by an airy giggle.

"The last time we had a night out on the town he almost lost his head!" Nara nods since it was the truth. The last time she left without notifying her father he nearly sent his men on a rampage of the city in search of her but she could care less. She was young, of age and wanted to experience life first hand.

It didn't matter that he father was a man of business and had a reputation to live by. She was her own person and made that known every chance she got.

The two friends stop and look at the illuminating sign of the most popular diner on their side of town, often occupied by classmates and young individuals passing through while traveling. "Oh I can't wait to get my slice of cake!" Nara beams with excitement, pulling Gretchen along. The two hurry and find a booth and remove their fur coats.

"Oh look. Allen Jenkins' son!" Gretchen points. Nara reaches over and hits her hand, making her place it on the cold surface of the table as her honey colored eyes shift in his direction. She stares at him, watching him make conversation with the group of men crowding around him while he holds a lit cigarette between his lips.

She quickly looks away when his brown eyes meet hers. Growing nervous, she grabs the menu on the table and opens it, pretending to look for something to eat while Gretchen does the same and grabs her menu. "He's coming this way!" She whispers, eyes peeking over it.

"Let's get out-" Nara's words are cut short when he slips into her side of the booth. "Hello darling, you look rather ravishing tonight." The arrogance in his voice causes Nara's honey eyes to roll to the back of her head. She looks at him then across the table at her friend who sends her a sympathetic smile.
