[Y/n's PoV]

There's something weighing from the back of my mind. I thought that I can be best for her. But I was wrong. I'll never be good enough for everyone even if I always tried.

...
....

I slowly woke back up, my eyes were blinded by bright light for a moment before adjusting to the environment around me. I found that I am currently in the infirmary at Schicksal, but I couldn't remember anything that happened as to who brings me here- aside from that intense pain I had just moments ago.

My vision was blurry, and I could feel a dull ache in my chest. My mind was hazy from my recent loss of consciousness, making it hard to even think straight at all.

"Captain!"

...?

I heard a familiar voice calling out to me. It didn't feel like that voice was speaking from far away, and the tone sounded very worried, hence I looked up and saw some Valkyries and the principal.

They were gathered beside my bed and all looked concerned as they saw me woke up.

"Theresa... What happened..?"

Hearing my voice made Theresa let out a small sigh of relief. However, that didn't change the concerned look on her face as she walked over to me.

"Captain, are you feeling okay? You passed out for a while in the forest, so we rushed you back here to make sure you were fine."

"Did you find me alone in there..?"

Upon hearing my question, everyone's facial expressions stiffened up slightly. I could tell that they were all a bit puzzled, before Theresa nodded her head in response.

"Yes... did something happen? Do you remember anything?"

"I couldn't... recall much... sorry..." I replied.

Of course that was a lie for I remember everything that had happened earlier. I just couldn't bring myself to say it towards them. I mean, their own Captain was held captive and was manipulated by a Herrscher? I would be even disgusted with myself.

"No need to be sorry, Captain. We're just happy to see that you're alright. Though, it's strange that you don't remember what happened..."

I hummed, "I remember I decided to take a breather outside after Mei told me that she and Bronya will be leaving Schicksal. After that, I guessed I got consumed by my own thoughts and got lost in the forest though I don't know what happened after."

"Hmm, really? Well, it's good to hear that you aren't too hurt then... still, that is a bit strange, isn't it? Do you think you maybe collapsed from exhaustion or something like that?"

Theresa was a bit skeptical about my explanation, as it was likely that she wasn't aware of my true encounter with the Herrscher core.

"Sorry, I don't know..."

Theresa nodded understandingly as her expression was now back to being gentle and reassuring.

"Well, it's alright. The most important thing is that you're here and safe, right? We can discuss the details later. For now though, we should just let you rest."

"Mhm, thank you."

Theresa smiled before looking towards the other Valkyries in the room.

"I will leave all of you to continue looking after the Captain. Feel free to check up on her again if something happens."

The principal spoke before she began to move towards the exit. The remaining Valkyries were now free to do as they pleased, though most of the others still seemed concerned for me.

"Hey, it's fine. Nothing bad has happened, so all of you don't need to worry."

The other Valkyries only gave short nods in response as they heard my own reassurance, but they didn't seem completely convinced. They all looked like they wanted to ask more questions, but none of them wanted to push me too much while I was still recovering.

After a few more hours, the other Valkyries eventually decide to leave the room and let me rest as per Theresa's orders. Now I have the room to myself again for the time being.

It was quiet; too quiet for my liking. I still wanted someone's presence to be here, but it just felt so lonely and empty now that I was all alone here.

"Mei... I wish you were here..."

The quiet presence of the room suddenly was replaced by an eerie silence as I spoke. All I could hear was the steady beeping from the monitors hooked up to me, and the only thing that came to my mind was the feeling of Mei's presence- the only person who could help me at a time like this.
