Chapter 21: Lost In Time

[Mei's PoV]

Eleven months have passed since the day Y/n disappeared and the search for her had turned up with no clues or leads.

As months turned into weeks and weeks turned into days, nobody had found the slightest trace of Y/n anywhere, which was quite troubling for us who were slowly losing hope of seeing her alive again.

There were several times when I had questioned whether Y/n was truly gone forever, but each time, I'd quickly dismiss those thoughts as I told myself that I'll find a way to get Y/n back one way or another...

The search had become a daunting task for all of those involved. Every day, the search would always continue with no signs of her being found, as her disappearance had become one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in this world.

Despite the passage of time, the group of Valkyries who were involved in the search would never give up on trying to find her also, even as their hopes of seeing Y/n alive again began to grow dimmer with each passing month.

One of the most unexpected events that occurred during the eleven months that had gone by was the reveal of the former Schicksal Overseer Otto Apocalypse's plan to the entire world as he began his ascension to godhood.

While the Valkyries had been working tirelessly on trying to find Y/n, Kiana and Durandal and the other Valkyries took up arms against Otto's plan in ascension.

Once we pointed and realized that Otto was using Y/n as the source to power up his own ascension to godhood, the situation became even more dire than ever before. Not only did we have the danger of losing Y/n who was held captive by Otto, but we also had to contend with the powerful Herrscher of Dominance who was also held captive within the Y/n's body.

It was a race against time as we tried to halt Otto's plans before he could become too powerful, while also needing to rescue Y/n in one piece during the process.

But there was another problem we are facing— Otto never revealed where he was keeping Y/n throughout these eleven months.

The group of Valkyries who were trying to rescue her from his grasp were still in the dark about her current whereabouts, even as they desperately tried to find a trace of her for any leads.

Even with all their effort and hard work, Otto's intentions for using Y/n as his source remained entirely unknown, and the Captain's actual location was yet to be discovered.

Of course, I was definitely not going to give up easily— not when it comes to her.

I tried everything I could think of—  scouring Schicksal's vast archives, combing through all of the possible places and locations that could lead me to where Y/n is being held, and even analyzing every piece of evidence we had from the past.

Yet nothing I had tried had yielded any results yet, but I refuse to back down and will continue to search for her until I find her.

No matter how long it may take, I will not give up on finding her...

"Kiana, how are things on your end?" I asked Kiana over the phone.

Her voice over the phone sounded somewhat cheerful, despite the seriousness of their current situation. In fact, Kiana sounded quite eager to give me the information I asked for.

"We still haven't been able to find the Captain, and with everything that's going on with Otto's godhood plan and all that, we've had our hands full, though we won't lose hope just yet."

"Mhm, then perhaps this new information would serve as our new hope. Kevin helped me track down Y/— I mean the Captain after her disappearance and now, although it was just a theory of his, he told me that the Captain was somewhat held captive inside a bubble universe from the Sea of Quanta." I explained.

"The Sea of Quanta... Isn't that an interdimensional field where countless possibilities exist in its vast world?" Kiana inquired.

"...Yes, and since all of you are busy there fighting against Otto, I need you to keep him busy while I try to track her inside the Sea of Quanta and bring her home to us."

"Wait— hold on... Mei-senpai, you're actually gonna go search for the Captain in the Sea of Quanta on your own?" She asked.

Perhaps she imagined all the possible dangers that I might encounter while I'll go and search for Y/n within the depths of the Sea of Quanta.

"Don't worry, I promise you that I will return safely. All we need to do is to not let Otto figure that I'll be going there. So I need you to put a stop to his dynasty once and for all. Is that okay with you, Kiana?"

She remained silent for a few seconds and seems to be gathering her own thoughts before finally giving her answer

"Of course, Mei-senpai. We'll prevent Otto from godhood so that he won't gain the power he so desires, while you rescue the Captain from the Sea of Quanta." Her voice wasn't as cheerful as it was before anymore, but this was necessary. We couldn't afford such a slip up.

"Alright then, that settles it. Good luck dealing with him." I said.

"We will. May the odds be in our favor for your mission of reaching the Sea of Quanta as well. We'll see each other soon, Mei-senpai." She replied.

After hanging up, I took a deep breath before I asked for further details from Kevin before setting off.

He would then give me more details about Y/n's location inside the Sea of Quanta, as well as the possible dangers I might encounter within the depths of the inter dimensional field.

It was still going to be quite the risk and I would have to be very careful while I navigate the vast expanse of the sea to search for her. It wasn't gonna be easy, but I would have to try my best to reach her.

"So, Y/n's presence could be felt inside a bubble universe full of snow and blizzards...? Interesting..." I mumbled to myself as I heard the information being told to me by Kevin.

It seemed this is the bubble universe where she was being held captive, and it was located within a very cold and harsh environment. I would have to make doubly sure that I kept my guard up in those freezing conditions during my journey to the bubble universe.

I had already gotten all prepared and ready for my expedition as I began to search my room for a certain sweater that could help keep me warm against the frigid temperatures inside the snow bubble universe... and after some time of rummaging through the room, I finally found it hidden inside my closet.

"...."

I pulled out the sweater and my eyes were immediately met with memories of Y/n and the mission we did together in that snowy field.

This sweater Y/n had once given me was a reminder of that mission as well as a sign of the profound trust and bonds that we share together.

This was a piece of clothing that I cherished deeply, and one that I would never forget as I would always wear this sweater every time I was in need of warmth.

To feel her being by my side.

I just took a deep breath as I looked at the sweater with a bittersweet expression on my face. The memories we had during that mission in the snowy field had become quite memorable for me, and being able to wear this sweater again as I delved into the bubble universe was a way for me to remember those memories even more vividly.

I tried to shove away these thoughts for now since I had no time to linger on this matter for long though, as I was on my way to the Sea of Quanta to search for her, my lover.
