Chapter 16: Schicksal's Oversear

[Y/n's PoV]

After my health had reached a full recovery, I was now capable of leaving the infirmary's bed and could walk freely around the facility with minimal struggle.

I returned to Schicksal's main base and took some time to stroll around the garden, enjoying the beautiful scenery I saw there since I had some time to spare.

It was quite peaceful here, and it was definitely a nice and calm atmosphere to be in. I didn't really have a specific reason to be doing this, but I figured that I should spend some time to enjoy this by being alone since she's not here.

The lovely flowers and lush greenery of the garden while I listened to the sweet sounds of the crickets chirping.

Except...

An unexplained sensation of someone watching me filled my mind suddenly as I raised an eyebrow in response. The feeling of the presence of a stranger being present came out of nowhere, but it was also strong enough to make me pause and look around.

It was hard to tell who was watching, but the sensation was still quite obvious. As I tried to look around, I felt a tap against my shoulder hence I turned around and saw...

"Otto..?"

Sure enough, when I saw that my feelings were correct since the one who was watching me was one of the most influential members of Schicksal: Otto Apocalypse.

The man was standing in front of me with his arms crossed as he waited for my reaction though he also had a pretty neutral expression on his face.

"Ah, you're finally recovering quite well, I see. But... I also noticed that you've been acting a bit strange ever since your awakening. Is everything alright?"

I nodded, "I'm fine. Why would you say that all of a sudden..?"

Otto was silent for a few moments as his lips slightly curled into a very small smile. It was clear from his reaction that he knew I was hiding something from him.

"The simple reason is that you've been acting in a way that I've never seen from you before, Y/n. Before, whenever we had to deal with some more troublesome issues, you would always be quite serious and diligent with your actions. But ever since the time you awakened from your slumber..."

His eyes narrowed slightly as he sighed quietly. He then decided to continue with his own observations while looking at me with a hint of unease.

"...Well, you've been acting in a more... detached manner, to say. But, I understand that you prefer to keep it for yourself. No matter what, I'm simply letting you know that you could trust me with your issues, as I will never back down from making solutions."

I just waved my hand dismissively.

"Of course. Perhaps the last mission just took a lot of energy from my body, that's all."

Otto just tilted his head just a bit as he studied me for a few seconds before responding back. Clearly, he didn't exactly believe what I said at all, seeing how vague and short my reply was in comparison to my normal replies. The man then raised a brow.

"Hmm... And what about the time before the last mission? I recall that you were also not feeling well back then, but you dismissed the concern and joined the mission to that facility."

"I could quite say that you also met... a certain someone to your importance that you dismissively let her off the hook along with the files she took from the facility to take it back to the World Serpent yes?"
