[Y/n's PoV]

From her appearance alone emerging from the shadows, I could tell that this was indeed Mei, but her whole mannerisms right now were definitely not how I normally saw her.

Her appearance was her full Herrscher model and she seemed to be hiding something behind her gaze while keeping her face hidden behind the purple shades she wore and the mask-like Herrscher personality that she bore right now.

"Captain..." She addresses.

"If I may ask, you aren't the one who caused a little bit of trouble here, are you?"

When I asked her this question, she remained silent for a brief moment, but only smiled slightly in response before finally giving me an answer.

"I might... be the one that has caused a little bit of trouble, but not that fully."

I sighed, "You haven't left Schicksal for about a week yet you're already making quite a trouble for us, this isn't quite like you, Mei."

She looked away for a moment before turning back at me.

"I have my own reasons for all these sudden... 'changes' that have happened since I left Schicksal."

When she spoke, she seemed... to have this new aura of smugness and confidence to her demeanor; something that she normally never had even when she was still part of Schicksal.

"Leaving Schicksal to join the World Serpent..." I muttered.

"...I know this is not what you want, but this is what I must do... I had many... many other reasons why I ended up here instead of other paths I could take." She tried explaining.

I just nodded slightly.

"Yes, I'm aware. Nevertheless, I must admit that your actions... still left me somewhat hurt but I trust your judgement."

"I understand how you may feel about the actions that I've taken, but let me make one thing clear..." She paused for a few moments as she seemed to be considering her words before she continued.

"My actions... are not out of malice, revenge, or spite. They are not made with any ill will towards those who once were my friends and family... I simply have a mission to fulfill... nothing more. It may be hard to accept, but that's the truth."

I sighed again, "Hearing you say that makes me think if you even miss me a bit too."

Despite what her demeanor was portraying on the outside, I could tell that she was struggling to hold back her emotions as well. She was clearly not expecting that I would still mention something like this to her and even care to this extent about her.

For a minute of silence, she spoke.

"I would be lying if I said that wasn't the case... but it's not as though it's going to matter in the grand scheme of things. I can't afford to think about such trivial matters right now, and neither should you-"

"But that doesn't mean we should just ignore what we have?" I interrupted her.

"I may be following Schicksal's orders like a machine like you said before, but I still respect your decision as a human being for leaving your friends and families behind."

"Even if you may still respect my decision, it doesn't change the fact that there are much more important things we need to focus on right now. This isn't about me or you anymore, Captain... this is about doing whatever it takes to ensure the future of this world." She retorted back.

Despite how blunt her words were, there was a hint of sadness in her voice... almost as if she was still trying to suppress her true feelings.

"I know that," I snapped. "But can't I just be selfish for once to tell you that I wish to have you close by? To tell you honestly that you're occupying my thoughts since the moment you left? To have the feeling of regret when I said nothing in return during our last meeting when all I want in that moment is to tell you how much I love you and to never let you go?"

"...."

I could clearly sense that she was a little taken aback by my actions and words as her face began to flush a deep shade of red.

"Captain, I..."

She took a few moments to clear her throat before she speak again.

"And here I thought you would hate me for abandoning you..."

I just sighed in frustration.

"It's hopeless, I'm already aware that you got everything you needed here. Just go before Durandal noticed something amidst is going on here."

However, Mei just stood there silently for a moment, before finally letting out a deep sigh.

"I'll go... but before that... could I at least have one selfish act before I do?"

"Hmm?"

Before I could comprehend what she was thinking, Mei was already in front of me in a flash as her lips were already pressed against mine.

The kiss was brief, yet very warm and delicate. She then broke away moments later and slowly pulled away.

"I hope that was good enough to answer your question, Captain."

Before she could go and disappear from my sight again, I pulled her back onto my arms and kissed her again.

This time, her lips remained pressed against mine much longer. It almost felt like eternity could pass while the two of us remained locked in a deep embrace. I could sense Mei's face beginning to heat up in embarrassment again and could feel a bright shade of pink taking over her cheeks now but to my surprise, she doesn't seem to mind.

She opened her mouth slightly to meet my tongue with hers. I was lost in the heat of the moment as I wrapped my arms around Mei's waist in order to hold her more in a tight embrace.

It was quite some time later when I finally realized that neither of us have broken away. I couldn't help but feel as though she still enjoyed this kind of moment between the two of us despite everything else that has happened since she left.

When I eventually broke away from the kiss, I could see the string of saliva that connected us together for a brief moment before it eventually separated and dropped down. Mei herself seemed quite surprised that the kiss lasted as long as it did as she quickly cleared her throat to try and gain some composure.

"That... was enough. Now it's time for me to go... for real this time."

I nodded slowly.

"Alright then, I won't stop you."

She gave me one last look before a brief smile appeared across her face. She then took a few more steps back before finally turning around to walk away, leaving me all alone to my own thoughts once more.
