Chapter 23: Domination

[Mei's PoV]

I looked upon the scene before me in complete bewilderment. I could hardly grasp my thoughts together as I tried to comprehend what I had just seen.

There she was, Y/n, unconscious and suspended in a circular mechanism at the center, while surrounded by varying test tubes which were all placed around her body.

The other test tube that covered her mouth was just even more bizarre as it served as her oxygen source, which only made the scene even more incomprehensible as to what had happened to her.

Then, to make matters even worse, the strange fluids that continued to flow within the test tube kept flowing freely within and outside Y/n with no end in sight. It was as if she was being treated as an experiment subject herself as these strange fluids continued to flow within her body, and it was all the more sickeningly disturbing to behold.

With all emotions of both anger and distress welling up inside my heart, I could not bear to watch the sight of my lover being treated like this anymore either.

I quickly pulled out my sword and without any hesitation— smashed at the mechanism that was keeping her for so long without regard for anything else. The destruction of the mechanism itself released Y/n from the restraints of all the tubes and mechanisms she had been subjected to.

Her body then began to fall towards the ground. However, I was quick to act as I immediately caught her weak body and held her tightly in my arms in order to prevent Y/n from meeting with the harsh impact on the floor.

I could immediately feel the coldness of her body. Her heartbeat was also weak, which added to the seriousness of the situation. I was relieved that I had found her, but I was also terrified by the state in which I had found her.

It looked like Y/n had been through so much since the last time I saw her...

"Y/n... I'm sorry..."

I tried to apologize to her in a manner of words that came from my heart. It must have been painful for Y/n to have been isolated and kept like this for an extended period of time, and I felt bad for not being able to come and find her sooner.

"I'm sorry if I only found you now... I'm so sorry I..."

"Ghn..."

Huh..?

I heard a weak groan coming from her. She slowly regained her consciousness as her eyes slowly opened and met my own.

However, instead of the happy reunion that I would have expected to be able to share, I was caught completely off guard when her eyes fluttered open and were filled with nothing but cold hostility.

"Wait, you're not–"

Before I could even finish what I was saying, Y/n suddenly unleashed some kind of energy that causes me to suddenly be thrown over a wall with a thud.

The force of the attack was so powerful that I could barely manage to stay upright, as I crashed down to the ground in a painful manner.

I groaned as the pain was still fresh and very much present. It only made things even worse when I looked up and saw that Y/n was slowly standing up. Or rather...

"You're not the Captain. You're the Herrscher of Dominance."

"The Captain..? Hahaha... HAHAHAH! That weakling doesn't stand a chance. I now possess her body and when I'm out of this facility, I'll make sure to kill that bastard Otto for keeping me here for so long! After that... I'll make every humanity become my puppet and submit to me!"
