Chapter 19: Wrong Move

[Y/n's PoV]

My sudden silence was enough confirmation for Otto that he indeed was right about the core residing inside me.

He knew that the Herrscher of Dominance could only be revived when a suitable individual acts as its vessel. Otto then let a few more moments pass as he saw that I'm still staying silent regarding his previous statement.

"You have the answer now, don't you, Y/n? But just to make it clear..."

"...I want you to say it yourself."

I only hummed in affirmation before crossing my legs.

"Since when have you noticed it?"

He couldn't help but let out another smile though as he realized that I was no longer denying my status as a potential candidate for the Herrscher. Perhaps he was expecting a denial, or maybe a little hesitation to admit the truth, but he definitely wasn't expecting I was to simply admit it as if it were a fact.

"When did I first realize your status? Or when did I decide to keep an eye on you? Which one do you want to know more?"

Keep an eye on...? So he already knew back then yet waited patiently for the chance to have a private conversation with me about the core in mind.

I sighed.

"The Herrscher is currently not posing any threat."

He simply smiled at my reply, though this time his look was slightly more satisfied than it was before as he realized how I still didn't seem to see the gravity of the situation.

I am confident that Domi would remain harmless for now, but Otto knew this was not something that I should be treating carelessly. He was tempted to speak to me about this, but decided to change up the topic instead.

"What concerns me even more at the moment is not the Herrscher, but rather the one who is supposed to deal with the threat of the Herrscher..."

"You."

"...."

"I understand that you may have a bit sentimental for the Herrscher in your heart. It's not as if your faith in her actions are completely unjustified either. But your actions as its potential vessel is a huge liability to Schicksal. I want you to answer me one thing honestly... Do you trust yourself to be the one to restrain the Herrscher if she were to cause havoc in the future?"

"Well, I–"

Someone called me and it seems to be from Mei at the moment which was enough to disrupt the flow of my conversation with Otto.

"One moment." I say to him.

I then picked up the call.

"Mei, I'm currently in a meeting with someone. I'll call you back later alright?"

"Ah, alright. I didn't know that you were in the middle of something important today. Just feel free to call me when you have the time, okay? I'll be waiting for your arrival later tonight."

"Of course, you have my word." I replied to her as I hung up the call.

I had no choice but to now switch my attention back to Otto once again.

"Now, where are we?"

"The matter towards the Herrscher of Dominance."

"Ah, right... Well, all that I wish to say is that the Herrscher who once possessed thousands of individuals is now changing for the better." I replied.
