Chapter 22: Underground Labyrinth

[Mei's PoV]

With the sweater in my possession and the information that I had received from Kevin, I began my journey into the vast expanse of the Sea of Quanta.

With each step I took, the environment began to change drastically, from the clear skies to the cloudy ones, from the vast deserts to the vast tundras.

The scenery around me kept shifting and changing as I progressed deeper and deeper inside the Sea of Quanta, until I finally reached a world filled with snow and blizzards...

After I stepped into the environment of this world, I could feel that it was exactly what Kevin had described the bubble universe Y/n was supposed to be— a vast and expansive plane that seemed to be filled with snowstorms and blizzards, with no end in sight.

"This is supposed to be where Y/n is being held... in this cold and unforgiving world..." I mumbled to myself.

The cold temperature surrounded on all sides, as the snowstorms and blizzards seemed never ending in this bubble universe.

I guess not a lot of people would be living in a place like this... and I can't even detect a single individual over here...

I continued to tread carefully through the harsh climate of the bubble universe. It would seem like a bleak and barren wasteland where nobody would even be able to survive living in these conditions unless they had some form of protection against the freezing cold.

I was even more grateful now that I had the sweater protecting me during this perilous expedition.

Y/n... Where are you..?

As I searched for her exact location, I could only feel the cold temperatures that pierced me to my bones. It was as if the snowstorms and blizzards just went on endlessly in no particular direction— to further discourage and hamper any attempts to discover Y/n's exact location.

My efforts were unsuccessful however. I hadn't detected even the faintest signal of her presence anywhere in this freezing environment.

Maybe I should...

"...."

Since our bonds were stronger than ever, I decided to close my eyes amidst the snow and try reaching out towards her spiritually in hopes of being able to sense her presence.

As I focused my thoughts and directed them towards Y/n, my inner voice echoed throughout the snowstorms and blizzards, trying to reach out to Y/n at her core.

...?

When I opened my eyes, I saw a glimpse of Y/n's shadow forming in the storm as it stood there silently.

I could hardly believe it at first, but what I was witnessing right in front of me was a glimpse of Y/n herself standing in the blizzards. I immediately tried reaching out to her to see if she could communicate to me, but I received no apparent response.

"Can you atleast show me the way towards her..?"

"...."

The shadow just stayed silent for a moment before nodding her head and walked forward.

"Alright then, I'll follow you..."

I followed the shadow who was walking slowly towards whatever direction it seemed to be leading me to.

I had a feeling that this might just lead me to where Y/n had been held captive all this time by Otto, but I was also cautious in keeping my guard up in case any surprises might come in my way in this icy plane.
