[Y/n's PoV]

The first thing I could feel once it seemed like I might be coming around was the soft bedsheets surrounding me.

My eyes were still having trouble opening, though I could see just a bright light shining above whenever I tried to peek at the ceiling. It was quiet at the moment, and after a while I did manage to fully wake up and open my eyes completely.

I could see myself already hooked up to some monitors which were checking my vitals and condition once again, as well as a team of medical personnel who seemed to be keeping a watchful eye over me to make sure everything was all right.

"How long was I unconscious..?"

"Quite some time... You've already been under for almost two days now, Captain..."

Two days...

Despite the two days I just slept through, it couldn't feel any lingering fatigue as the monitors and equipment I was hooked up to were designed to prevent this very issue from occurring.

"...I see... How's everyone doing after the mission? Did they manage to escape the labyrinth safely?"

"They are safe, Captain."

The medical personnel then sighed quietly in relief.

"Is... Mei with them?"

"...."

There was a slight pause when I asked that question, and it took a few moments before the medical personnel finally responded.

"No... she is not. Only Bronya returned to St. Freya along with the other Valkyries after Ms. Durandal escorted you here."

"I see... that's enough information. I'm just glad the rest of the squad is safe." I sighed as I looked over the white ceiling once more.

..?

The door opens slowly and I could see someone else walking toward me. There was a slight familiar scent along with a familiar presence as my senses slowly began recognizing the identity of the person who was approaching.

The medical personnel left the room to give us privacy. I could feel Bronya standing right beside me as she looked over my condition for a moment before she began to give a small smile.

"I'm glad you returned to us, Bronya. It's just quite disappointing to know that Mei isn't with you and decided to stand firm by joining the World Serpent."

Bronya sighed quietly before she spoke quietly.

"Mei have her reasons for why she decided to join World Serpent for now, and I know she still cares about all of us very much despite her decision... Mei just couldn't stand to feel powerless and wanted to make a change rather than remaining stuck like before, and that's pretty much the reason why she made the decision to join World Serpent. Still, it would have been great if she stayed with us, though..."

"Captain..!" Another voice echoed inside the room.

We instantly turned our heads towards the person who was speaking with a soft voice. Bronya immediately recognized the voice as it was Kiana's, who had come running towards us with a concerned expression on her face. Bronya then turned her attention towards me before nodding slightly.

"I'll leave now, Captain. Oh, and Durandal was the one who carried you back here and told me to say to you that you should not forced yourself and just let your body recover."

I nodded as me and Kiana are left in the infirmary as Kiana immediately took my hand. She looked like she had been worried sick all this time.

"Captain... are you doing okay?" Kiana asked in a soothing voice as she squeezed my hand lightly to show her concern.

"I was... so... terribly worried about you when Bronya told me you were unconscious for two days. I couldn't stop thinking about it, and yet... seeing you awake right now, I don't know what to say besides how thankful I am right now, Captain..."

I just gave her a faint smile.

"Kiana, I'm glad to see you back on your mission. Yes, I'm fine so there's not much to worry about now."

Her entire worried expression disappeared as soon as she heard the confirmation that I was doing okay right now. She nodded slightly with a soft smile plastered on her face.

"Good... I'm so glad to see you're doing well, Captain. I was- I guess I did worry a bit too much, since Mei-senpai told me over the phone that your injury is that bad and then there's that Herrscher thing..."

"Ah, so Mei already told you everything that had happened at the facility?"

Kiana looked up and gave me a slight nod as she confirmed my question.

"Yes... she did, at least the basics. She told me you had gotten injured while you were still fighting and that the Herrscher you had awakened before she managed to stop it."

Kiana's expression turned a bit more somber when she brought up the fact that I had awakened another Herrscher core when clearly defeated the Herrscher of Dominance a few months back, but it was also clear that she was concerned over the injury I had gotten as well.

"Right, I had no choice but to accept Domi's proposal a few days back in order to not cause chaos at least for now."

She looked rather distraught over the way I had to accept the Herrscher of Domination's offer due to the urgency, but she quickly shook it off and chose to focus more on the current situation.

"I-I'm glad that you're at least okay right now, Captain..."

She then sighed quietly.

"But I just... what am I supposed to say regarding the entire situation with the Herrscher core, Captain...? This all still worries me a lot- you know what happened to the previous one where the Herrscher possessed one thousand individuals to be their puppets..."

I just smiled slightly before patting her head to comfort her.

"Don't worry, Kiana. As long as I'm here and could maintain my heart pure from their influence, Domi couldn't let out that easily."

She couldn't help but smile back in response to my gesture. The two of us managed to share a comforting gesture with one another, until Kiana then spoke once more.

"I trust you, Captain... I really do... but why do I feel so uneasy about this entire situation? How are you so... laid back about this knowing that you're currently being held as a vessel of the Herrscher of Dominance, Captain?"

I just heave a sigh and shook my head before flicking her forehead.

"Oww..."

"I'm the Captain, of course I'll try to stay calm whatever adversity we may face. Even if Domi does manage to cause mayhem once more to the world, I'm sure you'll be there to stop her."

Kiana pondered for a moment before nodding slightly.

"I guess I should have expected a response like that... You're always so strict and firm in your mindset, even if it sometimes worries me. But I guess in this case, it isn't a bad thing, as I can tell you really are trying to keep calm about everything right now..."

Kiana laughed softly after her remark.

"Well, enough about me. I wanna know how your mission went. Did everything go smoothly?" I asked.

Her mood instantly became a lot more cheerful as she started to talk about the mission she had just recently completed. She gave me a quick update about her mission, talking about how everything really did go very smoothly for the most part.

Although, she did mention that she got separated from the rest of the squad at one point, which was quite worrisome for Kiana as I could hear the panic in her voice when she was trying to keep in touch with them. However, she also assured me that everything eventually worked out and it ended well after all.
