"Alone again..."

Once Mei was out of my sight, I once again found myself feeling that same feeling of loneliness creeping back in and the feeling that I've missed in her presence. However, despite the kisses we shared, I still felt like there was so much more that the two of us didn't say to each other yet.

I then sighed as I looked back at the monitor.

If Mei was involved in this disturbance then I wonder if there was really a honkai beast lurking in that room.

Despite already being at least halfway through their assigned sections, the Valkyrie squad assigned to Room 412 hadn't reported in or made any updates about their location for quite some time... which was quite unusual, considering how active they had been with the updates before. This could be an indication that they might have discovered something important, but the uncertainty was still lingering.

Oh..?

"An occurrence..?"

I double checked again and it seems that my suspicions were spot on. The whole squad of Valkyries assigned to the fourth floor hadn't made any reports or update their current location in a long while... and their location had started to be indicated as 'not responding' on the monitor.

I quickly turned on my earpiece beside my ear.

"Bianca, how's the situation there?"

I tried reaching out to Durandal, but as I had suspected there was no response of any sort coming from her. Even my call back to HQ was met only by static noise. It almost seemed like all signals in the nearby area were being jammed by an outside force.

I only clicked my tongue before rushing out towards the area myself.

[Mei's PoV]

I was now outside of the room after saying my goodbyes to Y/n. Soon, I began walking down the dimly-lit hallway with purpose. My face has returned once more to the expressionless and stoic mask of the 'Herrscher of Thunder' without any hint of emotion in my eyes as I kept my gaze forward at the end of the hallway.

"Bronya, I hope I didn't take too long."

"...."

"...Bronya?"

No response...

It was a bit strange that Bronya of all people didn't reply, considering that she had always been the most eager to update me before whenever she reached certain milestones. My expression didn't change, although my curiosity was now slightly growing. I paused for a bit at this thought before I started walking once more.

"Where could she- ah... don't tell me she followed the Captain squad into that room? It's likely unusual for her to leave her current position, unless... she saw Seele being one of the Valkyries deployed by Y/n."

Before I could try to think about where Bronya might be, I finally made it to the end of the hallway I was walking through.

Then, I sighed.

I guess I'll have to go back and meet some old friends in order to see Bronya.

My pace slowed down slightly as I turned to face the opposite direction of where I was originally headed though I immediately stopped in my tracks when I seemed to sense something faint in the distance and tilted my head slightly in confusion.

"Another Herrscher..? In this facility?"

I looked around my surroundings for some time before I took a few steps back to the side and scanned the surrounding area in all directions.

I sense a faint hint of something that was very close by, yet it wasn't the same energy that I was used to feeling from Bronya.

The energy I was feeling was much more sinister and malicious, but something about it seemed... almost... familiar?

"How come I didn't notice its presence before..."

The more I kept feeling for this presence, the more distinct it felt. It was almost like a lingering sense of dread and despair that seemed to be lurking nearby but at the same time, there was also just that slight sense of familiarity as well as though I had met someone that had a similar, yet completely different form of this energy before.

However, despite its aura, it doesn't seem to be hostile nor taking actions whatsoever... as if... it was currently restricted by something, or rather... someone.

I then took a few more steps towards the direction I was sensing the energy was coming from and was still trying to figure out why I felt a sense of familiarity to this aura.

It doesn't make any sense. It was almost as though I knew this person or thing inside and out, but when I looked deeper inside my senses, I also sensed a faint hint of something else that I couldn't quite place...

So lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice that I was back at the monitor to where Y/n was at, making it quite confused for me.

"She's... no longer here? The presence I am detecting is still close by... but it's quite strange as to why I still can't recognize this energy at all. It's almost as if..."

When I looked at the monitor, I saw that the squad deployed by the Captain was indicating that their position was unknown as well.

Could this be... the reason why Y/n is not here anymore? To check on her squad?

Once I had come to this conclusion, I had quickly dashed forwards with immense speed, leaving behind a faint trail of wind in my wake. I was now speeding back to Bronya might have gone... not just her, but all of the squads that had experienced a sudden radio silence all around the facility.

If Y/n was heading there too, that means she could be walking into a trap as well.

I have to find her and warn her of what I am sensing in that room.

I quickly ran through the hallways- trying my best to find any signs of trail. Eventually, I finally heard the familiar hum of a Valkyrie's energy inside one of the rooms I walked past and that's when I finally stopped and tried to pinpoint and locate their exact location.

Room 412...

I looked at its engraved numbers on a large metal door before entering inside.
