I finally arrived, but Sir Ryan had already signed the papers.

I looked at him, pain evident in my eyes.

There was no point telling him about the missing health records and making him worry unnecessarily. All I had to do was find them for him. And I would—I would find every single one.

He took a call, his voice calm yet determined.

"Schedule surgery for tomorrow at 11. That woman with the kid won't survive the week," he said, then ended the call abruptly.

Oh no, that's too soon.

He turned to leave, and I quickly called out.

"Sir," I said.

He turned, his piercing gaze landing on me.

"Well... I have a meeting with a friend. Sir, can I meet you at home later?" I asked, forcing a smile.

He furrowed his brows. "Which friend?"

"Well—"

"Do you have a date?" he asked, his tone sharper than usual.

I laughed nervously and nodded. "I made a friend today," I replied.

"I don't understand. You're going on a date with someone you just met—today? Make it make sense," he said, his voice tinged with irritation.

"Actually, today is—"

"Whatever," he interrupted, like he'd suddenly realized he was asking too many questions.

I wanted to tell him it was her birthday, but he walked away before I could finish. I bowed slightly and watched him leave.

Why does he seem angry

                     KYLIE'S POV

Why is it so difficult to meet Anna? Is it because I'm just a maid?

My name is Kylie, and I am the head maid in the Grande mansion. I'm the only one who assists Anna's mother whenever she feels like cooking for her husband and daughter.

They were such a happy family before Tonia came along.

I still suspect Tonia of having something to do with Miss Isabella's disappearance, and I won't stop suspecting her. I don't believe Miss Isabella just left. It's not even possible.

But this is what Anna believes.

No one wants to tell her the truth. She doesn't know the whole story. She doesn't know what her mother went through.

I wish I could meet Anna. I would tell her to start searching for her mother because if she keeps waiting, her mum might never come back. She needs to know about her mum's health condition.

                   TONIA'S POV

I walked in, and there she sat, facing a plate of food on the floor. I smiled. I enjoyed watching her suffer.

The house was dark and unkempt as always.

She looked even uglier now, having lost more weight.

"Anna, my Anna," she said, moving closer to me. Crazy woman—she doesn't even know her own child anymore. This drug is really working.

"Yes, I am Anna. I'll keep coming to visit you, so always stay inside. Do not go anywhere, ever," I said with a smile.

"My Anna. My pretty daughter," she said, repeating the words over and over.

Yes, Isabella. This is where you belong. You were such a strong woman once, but Anna being in a coma broke you completely.

Now, it's my turn to shine. I will take everything from you. And once you sign those documents, I'll kill you.

I threw the bread I brought onto the floor, and watching her eat like an animal filled me with joy. From grace to grass.

Grande was foolish enough to make Isabella the second signatory to everything he owned. That means she can sign even Anna's property over to me, making me the sole heir.

And now, that same Isabella is under my feet.

I already held a shareholders' meeting yesterday. I told them Anna is a living dead and asked them to combine their shares with mine so I could rule AGHC.

My assistant called.

"Tell me, how many shareholders complied?" I asked.

"Quite a number, ma'am. They'll be ready to meet soon," he said.

I hung up the call with a smile.

                   DANIELA'S POV

After hiding for so long, my mum finally convinced me to visit Anna. She said Anna couldn't possibly suspect me.

I walked into her room, and she looked at me quietly. Anna, I just hope you don't know—for your own good. I can't risk you spilling the truth to Dad or Ryan.

If it turns out you do know, I'll have to find another way to silence you.

"Anna," I said.

"It's Ella! I missed you so much. How come you never visited me?" she asked, her voice warm and innocent.

Good. She doesn't know.

"Sorry, sis. I've been so busy. But I'm here now, aren't I?" I said with a soft smile.

"I'm glad you came," she replied.
