LOUISA'S POV
We stood outside, watching the fire consume Sir Steven's office. Sir Ryan was still inside.
The fire department had been called, but they hadn't arrived yet.
Suddenly, Sir Ryan emerged from nowhere, sprinting toward the fire. The security men caught him just in time, holding him back.
"Oh my God!" The MD rushed out.
"Ryan, what are you doing? Do you want your father to burn this hospital down? Why are you running into the fire?" the MD shouted.
"Are you all stupid? Someone is in there!" Ryan yelled, shoving the security men aside and charging into the flames. He kicked the door open and disappeared into the fire.
The MD frantically called the fire department again.
"Where the hell are you guys?" he shouted into the phone.
"We're on our way. We're a bit busy," came the response.
"Busy? Busy? The Dervantes' only child is inside that fire! If anything happens to Ryan—well, do I even need to say it—"
"OMG, we're on it, sir! We'll be there in a few seconds. What are you doing? Move it!" someone yelled on the other end, and the line disconnected.
So, they weren't even busy after all.
RYAN'S POV
Clara. Oh no, Clara. I can't believe she's really here. I suspected, but...
I rushed to her unconscious form lying on the floor and lifted the fallen couch off her.
I carried her into my arms and knelt down. Fear gripped me.
"Clara, Clara, wake up," I whispered desperately. She wasn't breathing.
God, please.
My eyes caught the health records. I couldn't believe she risked her life for me.
Just then, my phone vibrated with a text message:
"Sir, I finally found her identity. That fake Nuella is a nurse at AGHC. Her name is Clara David."
I scoffed softly. Both surprised and not surprised.
So, this is it. That's why you felt so familiar. Why I couldn't hate you, even when I wanted to.
You found me—even when I was too scared to search, I was afraid of the kind of peace that came with meeting you.
"Clara, I haven't even thanked you for saving Anna, for saving me. I... I haven't even treated you right. So..."
I swallowed hard, tears falling freely now.
"Don't do this. I'll be your friend. I'll talk to you. I'll spend more time with you. I'll respond to all your texts from now on—I promise. Please. You said you're my angel. So where are you going without me?"
Her chest suddenly rose. She started breathing, though shallowly.
I pulled her closer into my arms.
I need to get her out of here. Better to get hurt trying to leave than to stay here and burn.
I reached the burning door and kicked it down. The fire surged.
"Sir Ryan, hang in there! Don't move! The fire department is on their way—"
"Sir Ryan, step back from the fire—"
Before I knew it, the fire vanished, extinguished almost miraculously.
