18 . Maybe

The walk back to the cabin was silent, Changbin had so much going on in his head and yet he felt calm, it was different and strange but a difference that was welcomed and wanted to ease his racing thoughts. He walked ahead of Hyunjin looking back at him everyonce and a while to make sure that he was following him, he can still see the silent tears on the boy's face and he hated it and wished he can wipe them away. He did apologize and he really meant it but the boy was still silently crying, was it because of Changbin words or maybe it's because of everything else. Cause deep down Changbin felt Hyunjin acceptance of his apology.

"Chan will probably make me sleep outside cause I made you cry."

Changbin tried to sound light and joking but he knew that Chan will do that.

Hyunjin said nothing and continued walking behind him looking everywhere except Changbin's back.

"And Felix too. He will hate me for it... they really care so much about you."

"I do too... but I don't have anything to give back to them."

Changbin stopped and turned to Hyunjin

"You have... you can by being true to them just like how they are with you."

"What can I do to make you believe that I really don't remember anything."

Changbin silently turned around and started walking again..

He knows now that something wasn't normal about all this, what he saw for a fleeting moment and the way he felt at that moment wasn't something he can ignore anymore. Something was different inside him now, better different he can tell. But still... his mind was faintly fighting at the back of his thoughts... he should ignore it... for now he should.

"I believe you... but I have to look out for my friends too."

Again Hyunjin didn't reply and continued walking silently.

"That means I have to look out for you too."

Changbin turned and took steps back to where Hyunjin was standing looking at him.

"So come on... walk with me, not behind me or ahead of me... but beside me... will you do that?"

Hyunjin smiled faintly and nodded.

They continued walking silently again but this time they were side by side and Hyunjin's tears has finally stopped. It made Changbin feel warm inside.

Felix was standing outside the cabin nervously looking for his friends to return, he had made up his mind to take Hyunjin back to his apartment, he had to lie saying that he wanted to check for something that he found with the boy when he found him at the alley. Chan for sure doesn't believe him and doesn't understand why now at night and why take Hyunjin with him. Why not leave him here with them and he go by himself.

"You know that he loves being out here."

Felix nodded not caring to turn and face Chan knowing that the older will definitely know that he's lying.

"I'll go with you and return back quickly."

"And leave Hyunjin here with Changbin and Han? Do you think he will be comfortable with that?"

Chan thought a little then sighed.

"Fine... Changbin will go with you and I'll stay with him here. I'm sure he will like that."

Felix just shook his head.

How can he tell them that he wants Hyunjin back at the apartment. How can he tell them that here isn't safe and there's some dark guy hunting Hyunjin and the only safe place is back at his tiny apartment cause Minho -the creepy guy who Chan hates- has secured the place with a protective spell, he needs Hyunjin to be safe there now more than ever.
