🕊️

"I'm telling you, Annie. He's a pain in the ass." I stopped writing and faced Annabeth on the Iris-message.

It's Friday afternoon and I'm doing my homework already since tomorrow I'll be going to camp. Chiron wants to start the training as soon as possible, Luke could strike at any moment and I need to be prepared.

Annabeth called me so we could talk and do homework together, she told me how it's going with her family and asked about the news here. So I told how I hate Percy.

"He's not that bad, Blondie." She smiled, drawing something that I'll guess it's one of the monuments she wants to build one day.

"You're only saying that because you are in San Francisco and living the life by talking to Gabriel."

Gabriel, if you remember I've been teasing Annabeth since last year because one of the kids from the Dionysius cabin developed a crush on her.

He's been trying to catch her attention for a while now and she finally gave in after being flustered when she saw how worried he was. They have been writing letters to each other and that's so cute. I get all giggly seeing Annabeth blushing. I'm sure that by the summer they'll be dating.

"I really miss you, when are you coming back?"  I pouted.

"Maria, it's been less than a month since I left. Right after the last day of school I'll come back, okay?"

I nodded, looking down at the math problem. "Taking advantage of you being there doing nothing,"

"I am doing something."

"Come on, just tell me the answer to this one!"

She rolled her eyes, listening attentively to me trying to read the question.

"It's forty two."

"How'd you know that?"

"It's actually easy, you just have to—"

"Yeah, no thanks, I trust you." I smiled at her, looking down again to finish the paper.

"Did he get kicked out of the team?" She asked after a while.

"I don't know, didn't ask." I mumbled.

"What'd you mean?"

"He didn't explain to me what happened, Annie. And honestly? I don't give a flying fuck. As he said, he doesn't owe me anything, and I don't wanna know anymore."

She sighed, tying her hair in a ponytail. "Why can't you two just get along, hm?"

"It's not my fault if he is annoying, and you know that. Since the first day at camp."

First day at camp, I remember like it was yesterday.

Percy Jackson arrived at camp at night, causing a whole fuss because of the horn he carried with him.

I was the one who took care of the boy while he stayed in the nursery room. Annabeth would come by often to see if he was awake, claiming that he could be the one taking us on a quest.

I wasn't sure. I wanted to go on a quest by myself, not depending on someone else to just choose me, because they wouldn't. Why would they choose an Aphrodite's kid to a quest if all they want to do is stay pretty?

Annabeth was the one who showed him around camp once he woke up. I had promised to play with my little siblings that morning since we had free time. When they got to my cabin, I was waiting for them in the front steps. My siblings had done my makeup, put on those presses on fake diamond earrings, and a pink crown since we were playing Princess.
