🕊️

Hey! It's you again! Welcome back to the disgrace my life is!

I was waiting with Annabeth for Percy to finish his new school meeting. Our last day of school was in the beginning of May and Annabeth came days after. I had already spent time alone with her, but now she wanted to regroup with the rest of us.

We arranged to meet Percy by his school entrance so we could go to the theaters and watch a movie. I was really excited for it so I decided not to complain about how long that was taking. By the end of the school days, Percy told us his step-father had gotten a spot for him at the school he works at, and now he was meeting the school for the first time.

Annabeth and I were seated by the side of the road, throwing rocks in the middle of it trying to reach the other side and talking about random things when she turned to me and raised her hand.

"Do you hear that?" The blonde girl asked.

"Hear what?" I furrowed my eyebrows, trying to pay attention to any sounds. I turned my head around, looking at the school when I saw.

Far away coming in our direction was Percy Jackson, running while pulling a girl with ginger hair. "Come on, Rachel!" He screamed.

Smoke came out of the window behind them, mixing with the clouds in the sky. The smell of fire was rising and getting stronger, making me think how it will impregnate on me.

"Fuck, Percy!" Annabeth said, standing up and turning to their direction. I threw my head back, looking at the sky and asking myself if this boy has a thing to be in dangerous situations.

Percy stopped in front of us, him and the girl being out of breath. "We—" he put his hands on his knees. "We need to get out of here, there was a—I don't know what she was, but she tried to kill me!" He pointed back to the school, his eyes wide.

"What? No, you need to explain to me what the fuck just happened, Perseus!?" Rachel exclaimed.

I raised an eyebrow, my gaze going up and down analyzing the girl in front of me. She wore a Harvard shirt with jeans designed with flowers, her freckles appearing more when she removed strands of hair that fell in her face. "Rachel?"

I remember her, the girl that helped us at the dam.

"It's you again!" She pointed at me. "What are the two of you doing here? And why does a monster want to kill Perseus?! Again!" She added in the end.

Percy rolled his eyes, taking the pen cap from his pants pocket and placing it on the tip of the sword, which shrank back to its original shape, a pen. "Don't call me Perseus."

"She saved you twice, Perseus, you don't deserve to ask her anything." I cited the obvious, receiving a smile from the girl.

"She's right." Rachel raised her hand, making me smile back and high five her.

"Ugh, you're so annoying, Princess." He said.

"I learned to be annoying with you."

"Okay, we don't have time for this. Hi, I'm Annabeth. And you are?" She crossed her arms, tapping her foot repeatedly on the cement sidewalk.

The police sirens were starting to get louder, getting closer to our area. The screams from inside the school were drowned out by the fire alarm.

"Percy already said, I'm Rachel."

"She's a mortal, but she can see through the Mist. She helped me and Maria at the dam when we were on our quest to find you." Percy looked back and people were starting to come out of the school. "Come with us, Rachel, or you'll get in trouble because of me."

"It's fine, I'll lie to them and ease things for you. Now go, before that monster comes back." She said, "But call me and explain why I'm always at the edge of dying every time I meet you." Rachel got a marker pen out of her back pocket and pulled Percy's arm, writing down her number.

The boy blushed, his neck and ears getting red. "Yeah, uh— Uhum— Sure, I'll— yeah, cool"

I held back a laugh seeing him all flustered. It was cute, I have to admit. Percy is really awkward with girls that he doesn't know well. For example, he acts pretty normal with Annabeth and me, but with Rachel...

I don't know why, but I felt uncomfortable deep down seeing him this way with her.

"Alright. Thank you, Rachel, for keeping this Seaweed Brain safe again." Annabeth pulled his ear, "We'll get going now, goodbye and good luck." They both started to walk along the side of the road, Percy complaining that it was hurting and that that wasn't necessary.

Our gaze followed the two friends walking down the road, I turned back at Rachel and smiled softly. "I like your jeans by the way."

"What? Thank you! You look pretty in your outfit too." She pointed at me. I was wearing a jeans short skirt with a jeans belt, and a green shirt with Milano written in gold letters, tied in the back so it would be tight on my body. My belly button showing, with a start piercing on it. On my feet I had my black converse, with random drawings on it.

My smile grew, "There's the girl!" We heard someone yelling in the back. "Good luck," I waved and ran towards the other two demigods.

She's beautiful and polite... what a girl.

Oh, I almost forgot, have I told you guys I got a piercing? So, one of the things I decided to do when I turned sixteen was a piercing and with my Aunt's permission I did it. After a little bit of ambrosia it healed fast and now I can change whenever I want.

Now that's a good side of being a demigod.

"And as always, Perseus screwed up our afternoon," I said, breaking the silence in the cab Annabeth got us.

"It wasn't my fault, Princess," He looked at me, pushing my legs with his right knee. "I didn't ask to be attacked."

"You never do, right." Annabeth mumbled.

"I don't understand, since January not even one monster attacked me, why now?" He asked, confused.

"I don't know, they decided to attack me instead and get you during summer." I said, starting to get annoyed by his spread legs. "Ugh, close your legs," I forced my knees on his, trying to get more space. "Annie, why is he in the middle?"

Annabeth shrugged, "You took too long talking to Rachel, and I like to sit by the window, you know that." I crossed my arms and looked outside the window, the big buildings of Manhattan passed quickly with the radio playing 'That's What I Like' by Bruno Mars.

After some more minutes of silence, I mumbled to myself. "I got all ready to see Tristan McLean on the screens just to Perseus to ruin it."

"Have you ever been told that you are more pretty when you're quiet?" Percy asked, crossing his arms but still looking at the view in front of him as the driver drove out of the city.

"So you already think I'm pretty?" I smiled ironically at him, analyzing his side profile.

"I never said I didn't think so."

Okay... remember the butterflies? I think I ate a bunch of them.

"Gods, stop flirting with each other." Annabeth leaned forward to look at both of us.

"I wasn't flirting with him." "I wasn't flirting with her." We said at the same time, both making a disgusting face. Percy shook his head while frowning and I looked shocked like that was the most absurd thing Annabeth has ever said, because it was.

I mean, it's confusing okay.

I looked away from them. Resting my head at the door, I stayed quiet for the rest of the ride, listening to Percy telling what really happened at the school. For a moment I thought it wasn't a good idea to be talking about that in a cab, but hey, we live in New York, this driver probably has heard worse things than that.
