🕊️

The first week passed by quickly. My father would talk to me like nothing happened while I tried my best to answer him. My relationship with his wife was the worst, we would only give each other greetings in the morning and at night, nothing else.

At least I got to be friends with Lucas. When he wasn't working he would try to fit me in on things at home, but sometimes I would just not be in the mood. Especially because I still kept hearing those animals's screeching.

I didn't go out that much, still hesitating to find a monster outside. But then I decided to at least give a try to the condominium cafeteria... they wouldn't attack me inside the condominium right?

Wrong. The moment I sat down to eat a good snack, a strange animal appeared in front of me. It came walking slowly like it was just passing by. The boys who were playing soccer on the camp even stopped to say 'Look, it's Marla's dog!' or 'Hey, buddy!'

I didn't know who Marla was, but I knew that there was something clearly wrong with her dog. The creature was as big as a bullock, having a head like a stag, or a little bigger, two stately horns with large branches, cloven feet, hair long like a bear.

Standing up slowly I decided it was best if I left before it saw me, but before I could reach the elevator the animal turned and snorted, its skin changing colors until he was invisible, camouflaging itself on the plants near the soccer camp.

What the actually fuck.

I've never seen this before, could someone explain what this was doing here?

I had come to terms in my mind that the elevator wouldn't get here faster than the monster so my only chance was run.

Run for my life.

The empty corner of the condominium's play area came to an end, leaving me with nowhere to go. I turned around, searching for the creature while still trying to process what was that.

I saw a movement near the concrete wall and quickly pulled out the bracelet from my arm. The glow of heartstopper shone and reflected with the sun. How can I fight something that I can't see?

For a moment I thought of how we fought Medusa on our first encounter. We all had our eyes closed, screaming random things and swinging our swords out in luck while Grover fled around on Luke's shoes with a stick on hands. In the end Percy managed to cut her head off.

But it wouldn't be the same with a chameleon-ox.

The monster moved again, I'm gonna guess its head, hit the plants making it move. I gripped tight on heartstopper and stepped back, getting away from it.

The sound of its cloven feet turned higher and stronger on the ground, as if it was running. In desperation I created a small mist ball and threw on it, pink glitter falling on the floor.

"Seriously, am I that bad?" I felt chills on my body and the urge to throw myself on the ground was strong. As I did, the sound of its horns hitting the wall was what made me hold my breath, two big cracks circled the wall just where I was standing.

Taking advantage of that, I threw another ball-mist, this time the monster's body glowed with pink glitter. At least now I knew where he was.

I stood up and ran again, infiltrating myself in between the slides. I saw it coming in my direction, passing through the swings and breaking it when its horn got stuck on the swing chains.

When it got near I swung my sword, the tip hitting its fur and blood rushing down. The monster let out a sound that I don't know how to explain, but it sounded like a stressed cry.
