"Traumatic, indeed."

🕊️

Aurora was the cutest thing ever. She was funny, calm, and loved to sing Disney songs around the house. She was a little princess, dressed in the Aurora dress I had made especially for her.

"My lady, would you grant me this dance?" I said in a classy playful voice. The girl smiled, holding her dress with one hand and placing the other on the palm of my hand. "Of course," She said in a French accent. Ha, I have been teaching her a thing or two.

I fixed her crown and we started spinning around in the living room, dancing as the Beauty and the Beast danced in the background.

She loved to play a damsel in distress while I would be the prince coming to rescue her, then we would dance around in her private party. She also offered tea, which tasted like the wind if you get me, and sometimes she would shove down my throat cookies after cookies.

But she was an awesome company.

I was already used to sleeping with her. I wouldn't make any sound when she went to sleep and she would respect my space. I just had a hard time sleeping with that stuffed frog she had. That was really hard for me. These days I have been waking up in the middle of the night with the sound of the peacocks, screaming and whining inside my head.

How do I know it's inside my head? Once I asked Julia if she was hearing some animal screaming and she told me to bless myself because that wasn't normal.

I didn't know when that would end, Hera was really having fun with that.

But she went too low today.

I had just slept, her sacred animals had finally shut the fuck up giving me a little bit of time to rest. But then I felt something creeping up on me, a soft touch on my arm and then a light weight on my chest, but still enough to bother me. I opened my eyes, blinking hard twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things. My theory just got confirmed when I saw Pudim, the green stuffed frog Aurora had, raising its small arm in the direction of my face.

I widened my eyes, not even having time to scream in terror before punching him away. Pudim flew and hit the door, making a low and muffled 'thump'. I sat up on the bed, my breath dysregulated as I saw the frog standing up and walking towards me. It was happening just like when I was a kid, it was attacking me.

Standing up and grabbing the glasses on the nightstand, heartstopper grew in my hands and Pudim moved fiercely in my direction. He grabbed a Barbie doll on the floor and ripped off her arm, hitting my leg with it.

You must be asking yourself, 'But Maria, it's a stuffed animal, just kick it away.' Guys, this shit happened to me when I was just a little girl, the trauma never left me. I can fight any monster, but Pudim?

"No. No, no, no!" I whispered, my ears ringing as I slashed my sword at its body. "Not again!"

I was fighting Pudim in the middle of the room. It was scary, its black eyes staring at me lifeless with that embroidered smile on its face but its body moving like it wanted to kill me.

Turns out I killed it first. I fell on my knees. The animal was missing an arm, missing a leg, its head had rolled to the other corner of the room, its belly was cut with stuffing all around it. For a kid that was devastating. For me, it was reassuring.

"M-ma?" I hear Aurora's voice. My whole body shook in fear, tears forming on my eyes as I looked up at her scared face. "What happened to Pudim? What did you do to Pudim!"

"I-I'm so sorry, Aurora. I'm really, really sorry. I'm sorry, please, please forgive me. I'm so sorry." I sobbed, begging her.

"My Pudim! You destroyed him!"
