The next morning Mme. Giry sighed as she awoke, noticing her daughter Meg, who was usually up earlier then her, was still sound asleep. Apparently Meg did not want to wake up today. Though Meg was not noticeably having any nightmares, she knew Meg must have been having bad dreams. After going through an ordeal like that who wouldn't? She sighed once more, going to her dressing quarters to change from her nightgown to her outfit for the day. Mme. Giry was going to have a talk with DuMonde then Erik to figure out this situation.
After finishing her appearance and making herself presentable, she quickly exited the room, making sure to lock it once doing so. Before she could take a step, DuMonde was right by her, seemingly surprised to see Mme. Giry outside the door she was about to knock on.
"Mme. Giry, how convenient" DuMonde stated, dropping her hand back down to her side as she smiled at her, "I was just about to come see you and your daughter. I am awfully sorry that happened to poor little Meg last night; I do hope she is all right."
"But of course Mme. DuMonde, she is just a little shaky is all. I actually was coming to talk to you about the situation." She responded, eyeing the woman up.
"Of course, shall we talk in my office where we shall have some privacy?" DuMonde inquired.
Mme. Giry nodded in response and followed the shorter woman to her office. It was directly behind the space where Mr. Duval was typically standing and pretty close to Erik's quarters. This was pretty convenient so long as Erik was in his room once they were done talking. It was a little room, big enough for a desk and few chairs with a little window that let just the faintest amount of light in. The wooden desk was too big for the room but since she was a smaller woman, she balanced everything out. DuMonde made her way over to the chair behind the desk as Mme. Giry made her way to sitting in a chair in front of it.
"So since you wish to speak to me first, please do so." DuMonde started, smiling at her.
She nodded once more, "Mme. DuMonde, I know you do not control the thoughts or actions of others apart form those in your hire-"
"Correct," DuMonde interrupted.
"But it still is bothersome to know that these events could have simply been avoided had you had staff watching the hotel at night. They were in the middle of the hallway and she was screaming, but not one person came to her aid. Not one!"
DuMonde nodded in response, her smile slowly turning into a frown as her hands rested together under her chin, "Mme. Giry, I am deeply sorry and understand your concerns, but the inn does not have enough funds to have a watch guard on hand for the night hours and Mr. Duval is over working himself as is, the poor old man. I couldn't ask him to do more then he does."
"Speaking of which, "Giry interrupted, "That man deserves a raise! Not only was he able to comfort Meg and scare the boy off, but he was awake and probably doing the rounds anyway."
DuMonde nodded once more, "Yes it is truly a miracle Mr. Duval was awake when this event took place. But truly Mme. Giry, was Jean and Meg not courting? Perhaps this whole argument got out of hand?"
Giry scoffed at the statement and shook her head, "My daughter was not courting this, this boy, in any matter other then friendship. If Jean took her kindness as an invitation for her virtue then he is sadly mistaken."
"As it seems that he does realize this now. Mme. Giry I am going to be frank with you, there has never been an incident here before and there most likely will not be one once you and Meg are gone." She replied, leaning back in the chair.
Mme. Giry shifted and tried to contain her anger, "What is it that you are suggesting?"
DuMonde smiled, "If you simply do not like how my inn is to be run, then leave."
