The Diva went looking for the Phantom. She found him. "Tell me did you watch?" she asked excited. "Tell me that you saw! Did you hear the crowd? The way they cheered. I hope you're proud. Did you like the new routine? Was it passable, I mean? I can change a thing or two if you want. What should I do? I promise I'll progress."
"Yes, of course, whatever you feel is best" answered the Phantom. "Did my costume look okay? Too revealing would you say? People seemed to like the view." said Carlotta. "Carlotta, please leave" ordered Madame Lesch. "I could show a bit more skin" continued the Diva. "Carlotta enough!" yelled Madame Lesch. "That would surely bring them in" ignored Carlotta.
'Can't you see the master's at work? Can't you see that his mine's somewhere else? Can't you see that obviously he's thinking of things more important than you?" responded Madame Lesch. The Phantom turned around and faced Madame Lesch. "Careful. Madame. You're forgetting yourself."
"Don't you see he forgot what this even is? Opening day, big deal, what's the fuss? Your success means nothing, I guess compared to the things that the master must do" the madame told Carlotta off. "That's quite enough" ordered the Phantom.
"Jasmine! Jasmine" repeated Madame Lesch. "Jasmine" repeated Carlotta. "Carlotta, you need to leave now" she told her. "In Paris, when the mob surrounded you who was there?" asked the Madame. "You and your daughter Rachel" responded Colin. "That's right! Where was she, when the lawmen hounded you" asked the Madame. "She was gone. Long gone from me and you and your daughter stayed with me through it" responded Colin. "Who concealed you safe away? Smuggled you up to Calais? Found a freighter out of France" continued Madame Lesch.
"I don't see the problem though. This is ancient history" responded being annoyed by the Phantom. "And once here when the sideshow hired you who stood by? Rachel and I while they kept you on display like a freak. Who kept working night and day? Who gave you their very lives?" asked Madame Lesch.
"Go on" responded Colin. "And who helped you buy that sideshow? And finance your schemes?" asked the Madame. "You did" responded Colin. "Who wouldn't quit until your act was a hit and your hit could become your dream?" continue asking the Madame. "You did and I am truly appreciated to all of this. I made your daughter an empress and gave you your francs you deserved" responded Colin. "Yes! Jasmine didn't pile the politicians and lured investors and the press" responded Madame Lesch.
Colin nodded. "And who stayed with you and helped you and achieved you?" asked Madame Lesch. "You did" responded Colin. "Jasmine was the one who betrayed you, shunned you and despised you!" added Madame Lesch. "She chose Raoul, chose his beauty and youth! It's long past time you faced up to-!"
"Enough!" yelled the Phantom.
