The Diva and the managers

1880-Opera House-Paris

La Calotta is rehearsing for "Hannibal". She has a very old fashion opera voice and as the music starts playing after she started singing everyone on stage started singing. The dancers came in singing onto the stage. 

A young man with long hair showed up in a stage couch. Got off and started walking to the opera house. A man singer went on stage and started singing. 

They were interrupted. 

"We are in the middle of rehearses" says the composer. "Ladies and Gentlemen please if I can have your attention" said one of the managers, MM. Debienne. "As you know in some weeks there have been rumors of my inevitable retirement. I can now tell you that these are all true and it's my pleasure to introduce the new managers that will own the opera house, Monsieur Andre and Monsieur Firmin." Everybody clapped and the new managers waved. "And we are happy to introduce our new Vicomte de Chagny". The young man with long hair walked up and everyone clapped. A young woman who is a background dancer noticed the young man. "It's Raul" she exclaimed to her best friend, a young woman also a background dancer with blond hair standing next to her, Rachel. 

"Before my father died, at the house by the sea, I guess you can say we were childhood sweethearts. He called me little Lotty" she told her friend. "Jasmine he's so handsome," said Rachel. "My parents and I want to support all the arts. Especially the world renown opera house," said Raul. Corlatta walked up to him and gave him her hand and curtsy. Everyone clapped. "She's been our soprano for 5 seasons" said the now retired MM. Debienne. "I'm sorry, I believe I am keeping you from your rehearsal. I will be here this evening to share your great triumph. My apologize Mansour," said Raul. 

Coratta tells her people over and over again "He loves me." 

"He wouldn't recognize me," said Jasmine. "He didn't see you" responded Rachel.
