A New Chance

Tomb Vampires

Hope POV:

Damon had been free from his compulsion for about a week, still trying to come up with a plan on how to get Katherine out of the Tomb. Sheila had shown me the spells used to counteract the Tomb spell, she also gave me a pint of blood to use to open the door. This way they won't have to actually be there.

Stefan had found Anna with Jeremy at the grill, I sped over to greet our new friends. "Jeremy, it's good to see you. Who's your cute friend?" I asked to get her off guard. Jeremy smacked my shoulder gently, I shook my head subtly. He left it alone knowing to ask later. "It's nice to meet you, I'm Hope." I said offering my hand. "I'm Anna, I met Jeremy in the library. Been stalking him ever since." She joked back.

"Oh I bet you have, he's a lady killer alright." I said gently smacking Jeremy on the chest before turning back to Anna. "We know things and we want to help. Jeremy may not know exactly who you are but I do." I told her, dropping the bullshit.

"What do you know?" She asked trying to intimidate me, veins flashing under her eyes. I grabbed her hand, pinning it to the table while I flashed my eyes. "I know everything. I'm going to help you get your mom and Harper out but that's all the vampires that come out of the Tomb is that understood?" I told her, I could feel her trying to pull her arm free. "Yes I understand." She told me.

"Good now leave Jeremy and my friends alone unless you genuinely like them. If you use them in a ploy, I'll kill your mother and Harper in front of you." I said. "I like Jeremy, Ben is just a set of extra hands in helping me free my mother." She explained. "Either you deal with him or I will but he gives off rapist vibes. So burn him or bury him." I said before leaving.

3 days later

I had found Damon, stalking the younger Bennett. "Listen Damon, I'm going to have to report you for harassment if you keep this up." I joked with him. "Ha ha all I'm trying to do is get to Katherine and everyone is in my way." He told me. "Well I showed you that she wasn't in the Tomb, fuck it let's open it. But when you see that she isn't in there, you can't lose your shit. We will get a few of them out and kill the rest of the vampires." I compelled the reckless vampire.

"This is a trick. Just trying to mess with me, lead me to believe that you will open the Tomb." He said, "Well Anna will be there, getting her mom and sire brother Harper. You can go in and see that Katherine isn't there, I'll let you out after we kill everyone." I explained. "Let me out?" He asked. "Yes, let you out. There is a powerful spell on keeping vampires in the Tomb." I continued explained. He nodded, I went to get Anna.

"Is Ben dead?" I asked as we made our way into the ruins. "Yes, buried and done with." She answered. "It was a mistake to turn him, you should have come with someone more experienced." I told her as she and Damon pushed the door to the side. "You guys can go in, nobody spills fresh blood in there. They will find a way to drink it. Get who you need, Damon help Anna when you find out the truth." I instructed as I pulled out the countering spell.

After about fifteen minutes, Anna brought forth her mother while Damon carried Harper. Once everyone was back through the entrance, I went in with gasoline and a lighter. When I was sure that everyone had been doused, I started up the lighter and threw it on the ground. We could all hear the groaning of the desiccated vampires.

"Anna I want you to take your mother and Harper and leave. The vampire council is still active and they are hunting." I warned her. "I'll take it under advisement. It'll really be up to mother." She responded. "At your own risk." I told her as I left.

6 weeks later

Damon had spent about two weeks completely wasted from blood and alcohol, grieving over the lie that Katherine led him to believe. I had told him that she would be coming here, he wanted revenge. There had been rogue vampires in the area, skilled enough to evade me, they must be old.

Bonnie told me that she had been with Elena when a masked vampire broke into her home. I had compelled Jenna to change put the deed to the house in Jeremy's name. I had also compelled Jenna and Elena not to invite anyone inside. These bitches are dumber than I thought.

Caroline told us that Mr. Tanner had been murdered, I asked Damon but he was at home when it happened. Nobody was sad that he died, Dr. Saltzman would be coming soon. There had been a string of murders in the woods. Stefan, Damon and I went to check it out.

It was dark by the time we got out there, I could hear an additional heartbeat. Logan Fell is in the woods. "Get down." I told the brothers. My eyes shown a brilliant golden hue, I could see him the blood pumping through his veins. I fed him some blood and snapped his neck. I dragged him back to the brothers.

"We are going to use him to get rid of 'one' of the vampires. It'll throw suspicion off of Damon. It'll also get you further into the Council." I told them. Damon took the dead Fell back the Boarding House. I had called Caroline warning her of the plan in place, she was safe knowing that her necklace would protect her.

It was about three days later when Logan was seen at the school, talking to staff and students. He had been eyeing Stefan not knowing who it was that had turned him. I walked past him, knowing that he would be sired to me. "Offer Caroline a ride home, try to take her and see what happens." I whispered. He didn't even know that the instructions came from someone else, he just did as told.

Caroline got in the car, knowing she would have a headache by the end of the night. She had just gotten down the road when I heard Sheriff Forbes asking if anyone had seen Caroline. She immediately called Damon, who had been tailing Logan. I had given him a stake to use, knowing that Logan had outlived his usefulness.

Caroline had called inviting me over after her 'kidnapping' event. When I got over to her house, she had been in quite a bit of pain still. Bonnie had arrived soon after. "This would be a good time to show you how magic and chemistry combine." I said as I pulled out a balm and the ingredients to make it with instructions.

"This will help for simple cuts and bruises. Anything larger than a three inch cut or if it's deep and different magic will be required." I explained as I rubbed the balm into her cut scalp and over the bruise. It immediately absorbed into the skin and disappeared, five minutes later Caroline was feeling better.

"There are still vampires on the loose. Be on your guard ladies, I have no idea who else is in town." I told them as I was sure that Caroline was fine. As I was walking out her mom stopped me. "Hope, I just want to thank you for coming over and making sure Caroline was alright." She said taking my hand. "It's no problem, you know what I forgot my chemistry book in her room, I'll be right back." I told her heading back to Caroline.

"Caroline, I'm going to keep your mom home for two days. If you want her to be 'in the know' we will have to wait out the vervain that is in her system; we will also have to possibly compel her to be agreeable. She is very stuck in her opinions on the supernatural. If she knew about you Bonnie she would try to find a way to neutralize your power." I told her. Caroline looked to Bonnie and back to me.

"What aren't you telling us about this?" Bonnie asked. "In another time, Caroline was forced to turn her mom couldn't cope and Damon compelled the memory from her. She eventually found out and learned to love you as you were. But there was a lot of pain and avoidance for a long time." I answered. Caroline looked down, hearing the truth. "Don't hurt her ok?" She asked.

"Don't worry, she will just sleep off the next two days. An extra long nap if you will." I told her, I pulled out my chemistry book on the way out. "Oh you found it." Liz said. "Yep, buried under Caroline's new clothes." I responded. I waited for her to look away before muttering, "Ad Sonum." I caught her before she fell. I placed her in her bed and went home for the night.
