Niklaus POV:
Greta and Maddox had said that there was a Coven in town, possibly large, definitely more powerful than just the two of them. They couldn't identify exactly where the power source was coming from, without magic being practiced it can't be traced.
I both love and despise this town. The terrain may have changed, but I still know the lands like the back of my hand. I grow weary of being in this boring human body, teaching history could not be more boring. Stefan has been watching me more recently, so has the Doppelgänger and her friends.
It is shocking to not find the Salvatore's drooling over Elena. Knowing the history with Katerina and them. Having had my own history with two Doppelgängers. People are often drawn to them, but it seems that she is pining for Stefan.
It is both a joy and a pain to see Stefan. He was my brother in all but blood. I often preferred him to some of them. I will be taking him with me in the end of this. I have yet to meet any resistance, but I also haven't made much progress. I still don't have the moonstone, my witches assured me that it's in the city.
There was a girl in the class with them, she never raised her hand. I could see pain in her eyes when she looked at me. Either she knows something or the person this body belongs to did something foul. I will have to find out what her deal is.
When the bell rang everyone got up, she wiped her eyes and got up last. I quickly looked at the seating chart, "Hope, you seem upset. Is something the matter?" I asked. I don't know why I care about this girl. She chuckled, breathing in before responding.
"No, I just miss my dad. He was the greatest man I ever knew. He sacrificed himself to save me, all I can wish for is that he knew how much he was loved." She said looking around the room as tears fell from her eyes. She quickly left not giving me time to respond.
Hope POV:
I didn't expect him to catch me off guard like that, gentle, caring. I wiped my eyes in the hall, leaving for the rest of the day. Damon or Dad will probably meet me at the Grill anyway. Knowing that Dad is within my grasp is surreal. Having him back in my life will fill such a deep void that I've carried around for years.
It was Liz who found me at the Grill, day drinking. I can't get drunk, but I can get pretty close. "You know it would be easier for me to ignore if you were doing this in your own home." She said joking, sitting next to me. I pulled another glass from behind the bar, placing it in front of her.
"Liz, what do you think of staying with Caroline?" I asked, pouring her a drink. "Well I live with her so that's a good start." She responded. I snorted, pouring myself a drink. "No I mean, staying with her as a vampire." I whispered the last part. She took in a deep breath, downing her drink.
"Do I have to kill people?" She asked. This is such an improvement on her view of vampires that that is what she asks. "No, I can make you a flask or a water bottle whichever one you can keep on you at all times. Most prefer the flask since it's small, but since you are a cop you'll have to sneak it." I told her.
"Well what's the point in either of the containers, how do they fill with blood?" She asked, pouring herself a drink. "That's where my magic comes in, I've charmed them to stay filled with blood. Nobody gets hurt, nobody dies." I responded showing her my flask, pouring its contents into three cups. I then had to quickly drink them and flush them out with the seltzer before the barkeep came back.
"If I don't have to kill anyone, I would love to stay with Caroline." She told me, excitement in her tone. "Let's go back to your place. This is not something to do in public." I told her taking a fresh bottle with me. We got to her house, I told her to close the blinds and remove the necklace I gave her.
I put a daylight ring on the counter, like Caroline's it'll look how Liz wants it to look. It also helped with cravings and only she can take it off. I had her sitting in the living room while I went to the kitchen. I cut my hand and bled into a cup, wanting to make this as easy as possible on Liz. Once she drank the blood and put the cup down, I had her lay down.
I didn't want it to be violent for her, Caroline had shared her experience with her about it. I did it the way Freya did for me. I placed my hands on her shoulders and focused on slowing her heart beat to a stop. Quicker than falling asleep.
Caroline had arrived home while Liz was in transition. She wasn't happy that I hadn't talked to her about it; but she knew that she would be staying with her mom forever now. Liz woke up with a gasp, without saying anything Caroline grabbed the flask I had laid out for Liz. Caroline smiled, seeing the veins beneath Liz's eyes.
Liz let out a cry of pain at her mouth. "It's just the fangs." Caroline told her, giving her the new ring. Once Liz put on her daylight ring, the veins went away, the fangs receded. "Oh that's much better. I was ravenous, I could have continued drinking for hours probably." She told us. She hadn't put on her necklace yet, "You must have control, always." I compelled her, absolutely not risking a ripper cop.
I then immediately put her necklace on. "Why did you compel her?" Caroline asked confused. "I think she might be a ripper. It's a vampire with no control of their feeding, they get lost in the hunger and blood. I was stopping it, in its tracks." I answered. She looked concerned for her mom. "She will be fine, she has control, she has her ring, and she has you." I continued to reassure her.
I returned to the Grill, finding Alaric people watching. "You caught me off my game today. It's nice to meet you Niklaus Mikaelson." I said, grabbing two glasses and a bottle. "I think you have me confused. Forget that I was here." He said trying to compel me and getting up and leaving.
I grabbed his arm, "Listen, I'm a fan. I'm also incapable of being compelled. I know that your witches have been trying to find where the power is coming from. You are looking at it, I have some things you need as a sign of good faith." I told him, pushing him back in his chair.
He looked at me for a moment not saying anything. "I don't do, good faith. I shall take what I need and that will be all." He responded getting angry. "Yeah well I have a certain stone that your whole transformation kind of depends on. I also have information, and people for you to meet. I'll need to know if I can trust you." I told him, flashing the moonstone before pocketing it again.
Pinning his hands to the bar with magic. "I will be there when you do the transformation. I'll need to be to ensure things go your way. Do you want to be a lone wolf, or head of a pack who respects you?" I asked. "I want to be head of a pack." He responded leaving the respect out.
"You see, if you don't respect your pack, they won't respect you. Fear turns to hate faster than turning out a light. So let me ask you again. Do you want to be head of a pack that respects you?" I asked. He paused, looking down. "I want to be respected. How do I know you won't interfere?" He returned.
I put the moonstone between his hands. "This is only the beginning. So what do you say, show of good faith or what?" I asked one last time. He took the stone in one hand. "We have a deal, Hope." He said offering his other hand. I smiled shaking his hand. "It's good to see you again." I told him before dashing out.
