Hope POV:

Stefan came back a week ago, spending a fortnight in New Orleans. He explained that while his feelings for Elena had changed he hadn't learned anything from his past. He did seem more lively though.

Elena had been trying to get close with him, wanting to ask about him disappearing. It was during lunch that she decided to approach us, he had taken to sitting with Bonnie, Caroline and me. The peppy blonde was both hard to shake and hard to hate. She was a genuine joy to have around. Bonnie was sarcastic and the dry humor was a hit.

"Can I sit with you guys?" Elena asked. "Of course, silly!" Caroline responded for the group, Bonnie definitely caught Stefan and my slightly disdainful looks but said nothing. We continued eating, Caroline brought up the Comet Festival for tonight.

"Will you be going Stefan?" Elena asked, trying to find a way to get him to ask to go together. "Yeah, Hope had asked me earlier, wanting me to show her around a little more." He responded. "You've been here for months." Caroline said matter-of-factly. Stefan placed a hand on the table, his other playing with the back of his neck.

"Sometimes Caroline people say things and use it to insinuate other things. I asked him because before he left he gave me his number. We have been texting frequently, we are family friends. We apparently shared family gatherings together, and we swapped stories of the same events." I covered. "Oh, sorry." Caroline blushed.

"No problem, Blondie. Sometimes it's better to observe and listen than asking questions." I explained. She nodded, pondering what I said. "I thought you were going with me, but no big deal I guess right?" Bonnie told Elena, getting up and leaving. Elena got up, leaving her food and chasing after Bonnie.

"Caroline would you like to join us, and if so could you extend an invitation to Bonnie?" I asked. Caroline lit up like a sunbeam. "Yes! I'll find a good time to tell her when she's a bit calmer and maybe away from Elena." She said before running off to do God knows what.

"Thanks for covering for me. I guess we actually have to go to the Festival now." Stefan said. "Yes but this gives us time to observe Damon and see how things go. I also have plans of finding Katherine, I know she betrayed you and your brother but she owes a blood debt to my family." I responded. "Katherine won't be found if she doesn't want to be, she is very cunning." He warned.

"She isn't capable of blood magic like I am." I responded. He looked at me surprised and then relaxed remembering all the knowledge I had shared. "How have you been doing lately? Still feeding on animals?" I asked. "No I stole the blood supply of a neighboring towns hospital. I have one blood bag before school and one before bed. I have human food during the day." He told me. "Good, I'm glad you are feeling better." I responded.

5 hours later

The girls had found Stefan and me in the town square, watching everyone lighting each other's candle sticks. "We have to prove to Damon that Katherine isn't in the Tomb, it causes too many problems. I can show Damon on a map where Katherine is but you need to get him in a room with me." I told Stefan. "I can do that. Come by the Boarding House tonight, Zach will let you in and I'll keep Damon home." He responded.

3 hours later

I had arrived at the Boarding House, having warned Freya of my plans. After knocking and waiting a few moments, Zach answered the door and welcomed me in. "Why have we been waiting on this shortie? What could she possibly do?" He asked trying to piss me off. I put my hand out palm down, flipping it over abruptly had him screaming on the ground with broken knees and ankles.

"Does that cover it? I'm here to show you something to stop some very bad events."  I told him, moving to the couch and spreading a map of the United States. He got up, and moved to the couch watching me. "What's the plan here? I'm getting into that Tomb." He responded. "I'm showing you where Katherine Pierce is, showing you that she's not in the Tomb." I answered pouring Elena's blood on the map.

"Whose blood is that?" Stefan asked. "Elena's. She is Katherine's Doppelgänger, so I can use her blood to track her." I explained. I put my hand over the map, the blood made a line from the center to Florida. This is going to hurt his feelings.

"Ahh she's with a young man, Mason Lockwood. Do not hurt him, he's a good person just manipulated by Katherine, you know the feeling. Shes forcing him to turn into a werewolf, so that she can trade him to Niklaus Mikaelson in exchange for her life. She has a very extravagant plan, she will be coming here. Expect trouble." I told them, getting up and leaving.

I had gotten Stefan's number at the Festival, Damon is still going to pull some shit. I had warned Stefan to be on the lookout for Anna, to let me know when he sees her. Logan fell had been poking around, Damon killing people hasn't helped. We had hoped that leaving Elena alone would keep her safer, monitoring her without involving her.

2 weeks later

I had befriended Jeremy Gilbert, the sad stoner boy desperately needed a friend and I needed a way into his house. I knew that he had artistic talents, he had done murals for the school later on. I helped get him off the booze, back into his schooling and artwork. At night I would magically sedate Elena and take 2 liters of blood before, healing her with magic. I didn't want to risk turning her before Dad sacrifices her.

I couldn't risk someone trying to interfere with Dad becoming a Hybrid. I put several charms on Elena preventing her death, I'll remove them before the sacrifice. I had taken about three gallons worth of blood so far, I can use magic to replace it but it's better to be real.

I had been watching Tyler and how his dad interacts with him. His mom was kind, fake but cared about her son. When Tyler didn't do well in football I could hear how his father would scream at him and throw things. Freya and I had caught the Mayor publicly ridiculing Tyler, his mom not stepping in.

"Mrs. Lockwood, are you going to step in and protect your kid from your abusive husband or am I going to have to." Freya asked, they Mayor turned his wrath to her. I could see the Sheriff watching. I stepped in front of Freya as he made his way to her. "Who do you think you are interfering with a parent punishing his child. It is my right to see to his punishment as I see fit!" He ranted.

"You better back up, I have a history of violence and I'd love to add to it." I told him, letting power radiate off me. I could feel him backing down, his untriggered wolf hiding away. "Are you threatening me? I could have you arrested for that." He turned to me.

"I could tell the Sheriff about the fist shaped bruises all over Tyler's abdomen and ribs, the hand shaped choke marks on his neck. What would the people think of that Mr. Mayor?" I said taking steps forward. Sheriff Forbes heard what I had said, "Mr. Lockwood, Mrs. Lockwood I am going to have to look into these accusations. Tyler please come with me." She said guiding him away from his parents.

"This isn't over, I'm going to bury you screaming." The mayor said, "Sheriff he just threatened to bury me alive." I told her. She radioed for dispatch to take him away, keeping him in place at taser point in the meantime.

Mrs. Lockwood was also found to have bruises littering her body. Freya apologized for her aggressive attitude and we offered help to keep them on their feet. Minimizing the story, Carol would be stepping in as Mayor until her husband's court case.

6 months later

I had told Jeremy of the Supernatural, not allowing his sister-cousin to have such a hold on his life. As of now he knows more than she does. Bonnie had confronted Stefan and I, at first she was terrified to learn that vampires and werewolves existed. I showed her that there is a deep power in the Bennett bloodline.
